Habitat for Humanity Westchester works toward creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Through shelter, Habitat for Humanity empowers people to build a better future for themselves and their families.

In Westchester County since 1988, Habitat for Humanity brings together people from all walks of life to help with house building projects, in partnership with families in need. Through this collaboration, Habitat for Humanity has introduced people from more privileged backgrounds to the housing crisis that exits in or near their own communities. While joining together to eliminate local poverty and homelessness, and to make decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and public action, Habitat for Humanity volunteers have become active and vocal advocates for policies that support poverty elimination and affordable housing.
Habitat for Humanity houses are affordable for local low-income families because there is no profit built into the sale price and no interest charged on the mortgage. Habitat for Humanity acquires properties in various ways and works closely with local municipalities. In this way, the local municipality buys into the process of creating and maintaining affordable housing in its community.

Habitat for Humanity Westchester also supports healthy Green initiatives in construction and operates resale shops that keep donated furniture and housewares out of landfills, for families to use.
