mzweigThe Scarsdale Woman’s Club will be hosting Michael Zweig, emeritus professor of economics at SUNY Stony Brook and Public Intellectual, for a discussion of the American Dream in Scarsdale - Is it alive and well or a relic of the past? Will today’s kids be as successful as their parents? What role do women play in economic class?

Professor Zweig’s talk will be held at the Scarsdale Woman’s Club on Wednesday May 29th @ 10am (37 Drake Road, Scarsdale, NY). There will be a question and answer period at the end of his talk, which can include current events.

His most recent books include “The Working Class Majority: America’s Best Kept Secret” and “What’s Class Got To Do With It?”

Professor Zweig received his PhD in economics in 1967 from the University of Michigan. He lives with his wife in New York City and on the North Fork of Long Island. This talk is free and open to the public.

Westchester Reform Temple Early Childhood Center STEAM Extravaganza (Wed. 29 May, 2019 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm)

The Westchester Reform Temple Early Childhood Center’s Second Annual STEAM Extravaganza! will take place on Wednesday, May 29th from 4-5:30pm. Returning favorites, such as the Ramp It Up Inquiry Zone, Edible Rainbows, and Bridge Engineering Challenge will be included, along with several exciting new hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math investigations for children. “The excitement of our scientists at last year’s STEAM Extravaganza! was overwhelming. We are thrilled to offer this year’s special night for WRT/ECC families to come together again and celebrate the STEAM learning that takes place within our classrooms all year long,” said Sue Tolchin, WRT/ECC Director. The Science of the Three Little Pigs will challenge students to engineer structures that defy the Big Bad Wolf, while emerging chemists can explore the world of pH through color changes. Special guest RoboThink will provide opportunities for children to build, code, and play with robots.

Geared towards children ages 2 and up, the night is open to our ECC preschool families and a guest, as well as their imaginations!
