Bronx River Parkway Closed for Bicycle Sunday (Sun. 21 May, 2017 10:00 am - 2:00 pm)

Where: Bronx River Parkway from Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers.

Problem Solving Program (Sun. 21 May, 2017 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

Cheryl Strauss Einhorn, an award-winning investigative journalist, will describe her method for problem solving at the Scarsdale Public Library on Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m. Registration is required at the library website, scarsdalelibrary.org.

The program "Problem Solved: A Powerful System for Making Complex Decisions with Confidence and Conviction" will describe how to use the Einhorn's AREA Method to make complex personal and professional decisions with confidence and conviction.

Einhorn covers business, economic, and financial news for publications including Barron's, Pro Publica, Foreign Policy, and the New York Times. She is the founder of CSE Consulting, a strategic consulting practice, where she applies her AREA Method―initially developed to promote better decision-making in her journalism work―toward the success of businesses and individuals. She is an adjunct professor at the Columbia University's graduate business and journalism schools.

Navigating Today's Markets With Liz Ann Sonders (Mon. 22 May, 2017 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Liz Ann Sonders is a leading voice in the financial services industry. She is a frequent guest on CNBC, Fox Business News, Bloomberg TV and many other television programs. Additionally, she is regularly quoted in publications including Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Business Week.

Ms. Sonders' talk is entitled "Navigating Today's Markets." She will share the latest market and economic analysis, current market trends, and discuss key issues on investors' minds. The program will be a moderated discussion and will include an opportunity for audience questions.

Library Child Programs: Petite Concerts (Tue. 23 May, 2017 10:30 am - 11:30 am)

Petite Concerts is expanding. Due to its popularity, two sessions of the music program led by Chi-Chi Bestmann will be held on Tuesday, May 23 at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. at the Scarsdale Public Library. Bestmann brings her viola and violin to entertain and introduce pre-school children to classical music.

Big Truck Days Coming to the Scarsdale Library On May 9 and 23 (Tue. 23 May, 2017 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

The annual Big Truck Days are coming to Scarsdale in May. One of the village's most popular programs for children, they will be held on Tuesday, May 9, and Tuesday, May 23, at 4 p.m. at the Scarsdale Public Library. Big Truck Days are for children ages 2 and up.
On May 9, children will be able to see and climb aboard trucks seen around town everyday including the large trucks from the village's Department of Highways. On May 23, they can explore the vehicles of the village's police and fire departments.
The popular events draw large crowds and parents are encouraged to share a ride with a friend as parking is limited. Parking is available on Brewster Road and attendees can walk through the Audrey Hochberg Pond Preserve.

Chess for Children (Tue. 23 May, 2017 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm)

Chess for Children with John Gallagher, the popular hour of instruction and play for those in the first grade and older, will have two sessions in coming weeks at the Scarsdale Public Library. Sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the May 16 and May 23.

Tickets will be given out starting at 6:00 p.m. to the first 30 children who arrive. No exceptions to the age limit.

Coloring for Adults (Wed. 24 May, 2017 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm)

The coloring for adults sessions at the Scarsdale Public Library continue in the coming weeks with sessions scheduled for Wednesday, May 24 at 12:30 p.m., Monday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m. Scarsdale residents can join their friends and neighbors for a relaxing interlude of coloring and music in an activity that has become a popular way to relieve stress.

The library will provide materials and sweets; attendees can bring their own supplies. Attendees at the May 24 session are invited to bring their lunch

Old Scarsdale Neighborhood Association Potluck (Thu. 25 May, 2017 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

The Old Scarsdale Neighborhood Association (OSNA) will be holding a Potluck Supper Thursday May 25th at 7pm at the home of Mayra and Brice Kirkendall-Rodríguez. All residents who live in OSNA are invited. You may RSVP by clicking here.

Scarsdale Chief of Police Andrew Matturro, will give a presentation about recent crime in Scarsdale and will provide important crime prevention tips. Mayor Dan Hochvert and Trustee Matthew Callaghan, who is the Board of Trustees liaison to OSNA, will also deliver a few remarks about recent important Village developments.

Scarsdale Village has five school districts comprised of 17 neighborhood associations. Neighborhood association officers notify neighbors of pertinent village information and neighborhood concerns. They also reach out on occasion on behalf of the Mayor or Village staff when they need our viewpoints on high profile important issues that shape our community. Neighborhood associations are an important way to build community and host fun family-oriented events. Old Scarsdale Neighborhood Association (OSNA) is in Fox Meadow school district and encompasses the homes within East Parkway, north side of Popham Road, west side of Post Road, and south side of Wayside Lane.

Any OSNA resident can volunteer to be an OSNA officer. Please contact OSNA if you are interested. The slate will be voted on during the May 25th event.

Limitless Club Benefit: Hidden Figures Screening (Fri. 26 May, 2017 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm)

Limitless will be presenting Hidden Figures as part of their movie night on Friday, May 26th from 6pm to 9pm. The event will be held in the Little Theater. Throughout the film, these women encounter challenges because of both their race and gender. The film embodies a message Limitless has dedicated itself to: overcoming gender limitations. This academic school year, Limitless has worked with unprivileged inner-city girls at a charter school in Washington Heights. We host a letter exchange between members of Scarsdale High School and the girls of the charter school in Washington Heights. As part of the previews, a few letters from these girls will be excerpted. The event is meant to raise awareness about what our club does and to empower the female students and parents within our community.

Admission is free and baked goods will be sold.

Library Child Programs: Parachute Playtime (Sat. 27 May, 2017 10:30 am - 11:30 am)

Parachute Playtime, the popular program that includes energetic, imaginative fun games with a parachute for grown-ups and children ages 2-4, returns on Saturday, May 27 at 10:30 a.m. Adult participation is essential for the program that includes games such as "popcorn" and "follow the grown –ups".
