Not Your Kids Book Club for Adults, the monthly session for adults interested in what young adults are reading, will discuss the acclaimed novel “The Passion of Dolssa” by Julie Berry on Thursday, August 2, at 1 p.m.

The program, organized by the Scarsdale Public Library, will be held at Shaarei Tikva, 46 Fox Meadow Road, while the main library on Olmsted Road is undergoing construction. Directions are available on the temple website: shaareitikvah.org. Attendee parking is limited to the front of the building.
Set in Medieval France, the novel tells the story of Dolssa, is an upper-crust city girl with a secret lover and an uncanny gift who is branded a heretic and is on the run from the friar who condemned her mother to death by fire. A peasant matchmaker and a tavern-keeper rescues a dying Dolssa and conceals her in the tavern. Aided by relatives and neighbors, the tavern-keeper nurses Dolssa back to health and hides her bringing down the wrath of the Church upon the small seaside village.

Not Your Kids Book Club for Adults is led by Scarsdale resident and children’s author Sheela Chari.
