Why should those who care about their house and pay a lot of money fixing up the house have to be "penalized" by slapping more tax on them? The tax should NOT be based on the value of the house. It should only be based on how much land one occuppies and the amount of usage; ie, number of family members and school-age children, etc.

Is it right that some residents pay property taxes at a rate of 1.4% of the value of their homes, while others pay property taxes at a rate north of 2%? Two generations of property tax inequality are enough!
