Poised for Demolition

Whi106CarstensenDrivele residents continue to express concerns about over-development and flooding the Scarsdale Committee for Historic Preservation is receiving a steady flow of applications to tear down existing homes. In most cases these modest homes are replaced with larger models that expand the footprint, cause trees to go and exacerbate the Village's storm water issues.

On Tuesday May 21 at 8 PM, the Committee for Historic Preservation will consider the four following homes. If they are not found to have historic merit they will be torn down:

  • 50 Harvest Drive built in 1951

Very sad... [removed]void(0);

We are losing our heritage and exacerbating our problems all at the same time. I think the CHP should not meet until and when satisfactory preservation laws are passed.

They keep telling me they feel the same way and yet they just vote to demolish. What if no one showed up at the meeting ? Have they not heard of civil disobedience ? If they truly feel these homes should be preserved ... Our preservation laws are too lax !

Please note I started a blog just for this issue: http://www.save-scarsdale.org/ Please read the blog, sign the petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/366/111/992/preserve-and-conserve-scarsdale-our-village-in-a-park/ to preserve our beloved town. Soon there will be nothing left..

Just drive to Spruce Lane see if you like it...

Thank you Administrator for pointing this issue once again. Our Village Board will be covering this issue on May 28th at 6:00 p.m., please come to this meeting.
