Scarsdale Buried in 14 Inches of the White Stuff

14inchesThe weather forecast was right on target – 14" of snow fell in Scarsdale from the morning of February 8 into the following day. We woke to find our yard buried under more than a foot of the white stuff, making a beautiful winter tableau. Fortunately Winterstorm Nemo caused little wind, downed trees or trouble – just deep snow that's keeping everyone at home.

Here are a few updates:

  • The Scarsdale Library is closed today and will reopen on Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Their staff was not able to get to work today.
  • Though Scarsdale Synagogue cancelled Friday night services on February 8, Rabbi Jeffrey Brown used the phone to run an interactive service on a conference call. To participate in the 30-minute service, congregants dialed a conference call link, punched in a special access code and were able to hear Rabbi Brown and Cantor Chanin Becker say and sing the regular prayers, share words and ideas from the week's Torah portion, and even engage in a supplementary online chat with other participating synagogue members during the electronic gathering.
  • In Scarsdale, the Department of Public Works is busy plowing and will work through the weekend until all streets are cleared.
