Hit and Run: A young woman, driving a 2003 Toyota, was stopped in the northbound lane of the Post Road at 7:20 pm on March 11, waiting to make a left turn onto Kingston Road. A second car approached her car from behind, ran into her car and propelled her across two lanes of oncoming traffic into a tree and fence on the opposite side of the road. The second car left the scene without stopping. The driver of the first car noted the license plate number of the car that had rear-ended her and police determined the car was a 2014 BMW. They canvassed the area and found the BMW parked nearby on Quimby Road, heavily damaged on the front-end, leaking fluids. While they searched the area, the owner came out and said the car was his. He admitted to being involved in the accident and explained why he left the scene, saying, "I had to go to the hospital to see my mother. It was dinner time and I bring her home cooked Indian food so she can take her medicine." The driver was identified as Bal Krishan Kahtod, age 64, of Greenville Road in Scarsdale. He was arrested for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He was processed and released on $100 bail.
An Overlook Road woman called police at 8:45 pm on March 10 after her daughter and friends saw someone hit their Lexus which was parked on Brewster Road. The woman called the driver's parents who agreed to sett the matter privately.
Turkey trouble: A wild turkey was playing in the road all week, blocking traffic and bemusing drivers: On March 13 at 7:30 am police received a call about a wild turkey on Nelson Road. They found him roaming the grounds of the Scarsdale Woman's Club. At 11 am they got several more calls about a turkey, this time blocking traffic on the Post Road. Police called Wildlife Services of Greenburgh who advised that the turkey was not sick or injured and should be left alone. At 6:20 pm on March 14 a turkey was standing on Post Road near Wayside Lane, darting in and out of traffic and attempting to peck at car wheels as they passed. Police stopped traffic and chased the turkey off the road using air horns. At 1 pm on 3/15 a turkey was reported blocking traffic on the Post Road at Murray Hill Road. Police escorted it off the road. At 10 am on Monday, the turkey was back, this time blocking traffic at the intersection of Fenimore and Tompkins Road. Police again escorted the turkey to safety.
Burglary: Police responded to a burglar alarm on Myrtledale Road at 9:15 pm on March 15 and found that a rear sliding door had been pried open. The master bedroom including a dresser and a nightstand were tossed and a purse in the kitchen was emptied. The alarm siren was found broken on the floor.
Missing: A Richbell Road woman called to report the theft of a pair of valuable shoes from her home on March 10th. The brand was not specified.
A Crest Lane resident reported that his 15" Macbook Pro laptop was taken from his home on the afternoon of March 13. He was not aware of any tracking device on the computer.
A construction sign for Twin Oaks Construction was taken from the garage of a home on Ogden Road that is under construction sometime on March 15.
On 3/11 a Murray Hill Road man complained that a lock and chain used to secure a gate to his backyard had been broken. He locked the gate to prevent people from walking through his property. He had last seen the lock intact in January and believes his neighbor may have removed it so that he could get through the yard.
Arrests: Christopher Bovain, age 22 of Lexington Avenue in Manhattan was charged with identity theft, possession of forged checks and petit larceny on March 10. According to police Bovain forged a check from a Scarsdale resident's account for $4,200 which he deposited at an ATM at Bank of America in New York and then withdrew $300 against the deposit at the ATM in the lobby of the bank. He surrendered to police and was processed and arraigned before Judge Galloway who set bail at $5,000. Bovain was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Westchester County Jail until his March 12th court date.
Juan Crisostomo was stopped on the Post Road on the evening of March 15 for driving a car with a suspended registration due to an insurance lapse. The plates were removed from the car and it was towed to the man's home in White Plains. He was given a summons.
Pothole: Police marked a pothole on Chesterfield Road on the morning of 3/16 after a pedestrian caught his foot in the hole, fell and scraped his leg. Police photographed the injuries and placed safety cones around the pothole.
Dog from Ohio? A Swarthmore Road man found a black and white Shih Tzu with Ohio tags in his yard at 5:30 pm on March 10. Police were unable to contact the owner so they called the New Rochelle Humane Society to pick up the dog.
A Hampton Road woman complained that a dog on Olmstead Road attacked her dog while she was walking it on a leash on the afternoon of 3/11. The owner of the dog that was accused of running out into the street said that the battery on the dog's electric collar was dead and she agreed to replace the batteries.
A child got locked out of a house on Jefferson Road at noon on 3/11. Police contacted the fire department to help.
Nowhere to go: Brian Covington of Far Rockaway turned up at Police Headquarters at 9 pm on 3/12 and said he had no way to get home and nowhere to spend the night. As police could not get a family member to pick him up they took him to the Oasis Shelter on Washington Avenue in New Rochelle for the night.
Help! A Dobbs Terrace woman called police at 2:32 am to help her husband get up off the floor.
Imaginary attack: A Lockwood Road man, who may be emotionally disturbed, complained that his neighbor's son beat him with a bat and punched him in the face at 5:50 pm on March 13. However in the course of telling police what happened, he changed his story, first saying it happened that day, then saying it happened a week ago. Police knocked on the neighbor's door and found that the son had not been home since early in the morning. The incident appeared to be unfounded.

Burglary on Saxon Woods Road and more from the Scarsdale Police

A Saxon Woods Road resident returned home at 6:40 pm on March 5 and saw two men leaving the back door of his house. When the suspects saw him they ran down Saxon Woods Road towards White Plains. Police called White Plains and Westchester County Police who brought K-9 units to track the scent of the suspects down Saxon Woods Road. The resident found his back door ajar and the door jamb broken. Inside the master bedroom closet was tossed and boxes and bags had been thrown around. A closet in a spare bedroom was also tossed. The house does have an alarm but it was not on at the time of the incident. At the time, the house was dark and there were no cars in the driveway. Records show a missed phone call to the house at 12:23 pm.
Car Flips in Hartsdale: A black sedan flipped on Hartsdale Avenue in Hartsdale around 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon March 7. Witnesses were not sure why the car flipped onto its side – as the weather was clear and there was no ice on the road. A Scarsdale resident said she was exiting the nail salon when she saw an older woman being taken out of the car and placed on a stretcher. The driver waved to the crowd that had assembled around the scene as she was driven off in an ambulance. Several fire trucks came to Hartsdale where they loaded the car onto blocks before righting it onto all four wheels.
Vandalism: The parking ticket machine at the parking garage at 7 Popham Road was damaged overnight on 3/7 – 3/8. The machine was broken into, the top and display screen were cracked and the ink cartridge was removed. Police reviewed film from two surveillance cameras in the area.
Scammed: A 77 year-old Brite Avenue man reported that he was the victim of an internet scam on 3/8. He told police that he received a suspicious message on his computer on 3/5. The sender claimed to be the F.B.I. and said that he had a number of computer violations. They offered to clear the locked status of the computer for $200. On March 6 the man received a phone call from a Windows Specialist named Gary who said he was aware of the virus on the computer and offered to help remove it. The Scarsdale man spent 2 hours on the phone with Gary who showed the man how to give him (Gary) remote access to his computer. Gary then asked for $210 for removing the virus, payable via PayPal. The Scarsdale man made the payment however he rescinded it shortly thereafter. Police told the man to have his banks watch out for unauthorized transactions.
At 6 pm on 3/6 a Barry Road man called to say that a man knocked on his door and said he was a representative from Power Remodeling and that he would be shutting off power to the house. After the homeowner asked questions, the man left the area.
Harassed: On March 4, an employee at DeCiccos in Scarsdale Village complained that two people at the market made inappropriate comments to her between March 1 and March 4.
Identity theft: On 3/7 a Johnson Road man reported that someone had changed his address and passwords on his Bank of America accounts including three checking accounts and a money market account. The bank locked his account before any funds could be stolen.
An Ardsley woman left her Amex card at Starbucks in Scarsdale after she used it to purchase coffee on March 7. On March 8 she received a fraud alert from Amex when $1,340 in purchases were made on her card at stores in the Westchester. The card was cancelled. Police plan to review Starbucks surveillance video.
Locked out: The caretaker of a baby on Lyme road called police at 1 pm on 3/7 when she inadvertently locked herself out of the house. The Fire Department arrived and let her in. The child was asleep the entire time. A Bradford Road woman called police when she was locked out of her house at 12:49 am on March 9. The Fire Department got in through an unlocked second floor window and let the woman into the house.
Drunk: A Lincoln Road woman called police at 3 am on March 4 after she learned that her husband was returning home from White Plains Hospital where he had been admitted on 3/3 for intoxication. Police greeted the man and warned him that no unlawful activity would be tolerated.
Lost bag: A man reported that he lost a green and black book bag at the Scarsdale Train Station on February 6. The bag contained work documents and an Expediter License issued by the NYC Department of Building.
Lost plate: A Boulder Brook Road man reported that the front license plate was missing from his 2011 BMW. He made the report on March 4.
Found wallet: Police found a wallet that belonged to a White Plains woman on East Parkway at 6 pm on 3/5. The woman had reported it lost.
Violation: Police stopped Shawn Hanley of East Northport, NY on Weaver Street at 4 pm on March 4 after their scanner revealed that he was driving with a suspended registration due to non-payment of parking violations. Hanley was issued a traffic summons and the car was towed.
Fire in Hartsdale and Potholes Wreak Havoc on Drivers

his just in from the Hartsdale Police and Paul Feiner: Fire in Hartsdale: On Thursday afternoon, 2/27, the Hartsdale Fire Department and Con Edison battled an underground fire in the area of 100 East Hartsdale Avenue. Several manhole covers were blown open during initial explosions and there was concern of additional explosions if the fire spread. Fortunately there were no reported injuries. Power outages were reported from 160 East Hartsdale Avenue to Central Avenue and at Scarsdale Golf Club. Con Edison promises to have the power restored by 9 pm. The Hartsdale train station is open and trains are operating but cars cannot use East Hartsdale Avenue from train station to Central Avenue. Pedestrians can walk to their buildings however there is no access to 100 East Hartsdale Ave. Motorists leaving train station will be asked to use the Pipeline or Fenimore Road.
Potholes: Potholes wreaked havoc for motorists this week – here's a report on the flats .... A Tuckahoe woman came to Scarsdale Police at 6:45 pm on 2/18 to complain that her Subaru hit a pothole on the Post Road south of Fenimore Road and damaged the front and rear passenger wheels. She left the car at the Scarsdale Library and made arrangements for it to be towed to a mechanic in Tuckahoe.
At 8:30 pm on 2/18 a Brite Avenue man complained that his Acura hit the pothole on Weaver Street and damaged the rim of the front passenger side tire.
At 6:30 pm on 2/19 a driver reported that his 2009 Nissan hit a pothole on Weaver Street between Hutchinson Avenue and Stratton Road and caused a flat. A tow service was called.
Triple Play: Police were advised that a pothole on Weaver Street between Haverford Road and Penn Boulevard needed to be repaired at 5 pm on 2/18. However, they must not have arrived quickly enough because at 7 pm on 2/21 three drivers hit several large potholes on Weaver Street near Penn Boulevard and all the cars were damaged. Two of the cars had two flats each on the passenger sides of their cars and the third had a flat front tire. Police called the NYS Department of Transportation to fix the potholes and referred all the drivers to the NYS DOT to settle any damage claims.
Snow banks extending 10 feet into narrow Village roadways also caused problems this week. Police received several calls about cars parked in the middle of the street blocking traffic:
At 1 pm on 2/19 they got a call about a Lexus parked on Church Lane blocking southbound traffic. At 2 pm they received a call about work vans blocking Taunton Road...and at 7:30 pm on 2/19 Bradford Road residents called police when cars were parked in the roadway impeding traffic.
A driver hit a curb on Fox Meadow Road at 8 pm and 2/21 and blew out the front tire of her car. The driver's husband came down and put on the spare tire.
Sinkhole: A Brown Road woman called police on 2/24 about a sinkhole in her front lawn due to ongoing work by Con Edison. Con Ed said someone would come and take a look.
Snow: The Parks Department asked police to call the owners of Heathcote Property Apartments about dumping snow on Supply Field. Police contacted management in Eastchester and they said they had never received a complaint before but agreed to stop dumping snow there.
Suspicious Man: Police were called to Shaarei Tikvah on Fox Meadow Road on the morning of 2/20 about a suspicious man driving a 2010 Honda who was in the parking lot during drop off. Bus drivers said they saw the man park and go to the trunk of his car where he appeared to unbuckle his pants, take down the zipper of his pants and attempt to urinate. However, he did not urinate or expose himself to adults or children in the parking lot. Both said that he buckled up in less than a minute and left the area in 2-3 minutes. Police searched the area for a man matching his description but were unable to locate the suspect.
Vandalism at Christie Place Garage: A Pleasantville woman reported that her 2012 Mercedes Benz was damaged while it was parked in the Christie Place Garage on February 20. The sidewall of her tire was slashed and the drivers' side of the car was scratched from the fender to the rear quarter panel. It appeared that the scratch was made with a sharp object.
Animals:
Angry Dog: A Gatehouse Road man complained that he was outside with his children and his neighbor's dog made an aggressive approach at them. Police called the neighbor who said the dog had gotten out and said they would be sure to secure him in the future.
Lunchtime: Several people called police at 11:30 am on 2/23 about a hawk on Fox Meadow Road. Police found the hawk eating a rabbit and set up a perimeter to protect him. After the hawk was done it flew away.
Bear? A Walworth Avenue man called police on the afternoon of 2/23 when he thought he saw a bear running between houses on Claremont Road, Walworth Avenue and Berkeley Road. Police were not able to locate the bear.
Sick Skunk: A Post Road woman called about a sick skunk in her yard at 5 pm on 2/23. Police found a skunk with a broken leg that may have been hit by a car and injured. Police said it was not a hazard and left it alone.
Lost Car: A woman called police at 5:40 pm on 2/20 when she was unable to find her car near Moscato Restaurant. Police used the panic button on the keys and found the car parked on Garth Road.
Abandoned Bike: Police left a note for the owner of an abandoned Harley Davidson bicycle with no rear wheel that was locked at a rack on East Parkway on 2/21. If they don't get a response they will remove it.
Found: A Wildwood Road man found a license at the Heathcote Five Corners on 2/23 and turned it over to the police who located the owner.
A wallet was found on the afternoon of 2/23 and turned over to police who contacted the owner who lives on Weaver Street.
Arrests: Scarsdale Police stopped a Lake Peekskill man while he was driving on Mamaroneck Road at 10 am on 2/17 because they noticed he was using a portable electronic device in his hand. When they scanned his id they found there was a warrant for his arrest in Putnam Valley for building without a permit. Scarsdale Police notified Putnam Valley Police who sent an officer to take Douglas M. Mele into custody. He was also issued a summons for driving while using a portable electronic device.
Michael Gomez of Eastchester surrendered to Scarsdale police on 2/19 in response to a warrant due to two unanswered traffic violations. He was sent to Village Court where he was released on $400 bail. Police also found that there was another outstanding warrant for Gomez from the NYC PD Warrant section.
John Lavine of Bridgeport, CT also surrendered to Scarsdale Police on 2/21 in response to two unanswered traffic violations. He was arraigned before Judge Galloway and paid $300 in bail. He was given a court date of 2/26/14.

Identity Thieves Plague Scarsdale Residents

Strange doings: A teacher's aide from the Fox Meadow School reported that a man was taking photos of the children at the school with his cell phone on 2/25. She asked him what he was doing and he said, "they look cute playing in the snow." The aides approached him and he drove away. Police searched the area but they were unable to find him.
A Copper Beach Lane man told police he received a phone call from someone who demanded he go to the bank, withdraw $4,600 and mail it to settle an alleged tax debt. The caller said he would provide the address after the money was withdrawn. The Scarsdale man asked questions and the caller got angry and threatened to call the FBI to arrest him if he didn't get the cash and mail it immediately. The Scarsdale man called his accountant who said his taxes were in order. Police called the number and the person who answered said, "IRS Department." When police asked for more info the person hung up. Police advised the Scarsdale man to have this number blocked.
Suspicious man: A Popham Road woman returned home at 8:30 pm on 2-28 and found a car with CT plates in her driveway with a man standing outside. She asked the man what he was doing there and he said he was "picking something up off the floor." He waited a few more minutes and then got into his car and drove away.
No shirt: At 10 pm on 3-1 a Carstensen Road man called police when a teenage boy, wearing no shirt, knocked at the door and asked for help. Police found some boys in the street and they admitted knocking on the door as a joke.
Identity thefts: Jasmin Acosta, age 24 of West 171st Street in New York was arrested on February 24 for identity theft and grand larceny after she cashed a fraudulent check for $4,200 from the account of an Axtell Road man. She admitted that she knew the check was fraudulent and said she made several "withdrawals and purchases with the funds." According to Lt. Thomas Altizio of the Scarsdale Police, "The checks that were deposited were fraudulent, and did not come from the victim's actual stock of checks. The victims personal identifying information (name, address, bank account number) were all used on checks that were created and then deposited into other accounts. How the individuals obtained the personal identifying information of the victim is something we always investigate, but it is extremely difficult to ascertain. The source could be a security compromise from within the bank itself, or the information could have been obtained by someone who at one point was in possession of one of the victim's checks. We are working with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, Financial Crimes Division to try to determine the source of the fraud in all of our Identity Theft cases. In the meantime, if we can identify a person who possesses the personal identifying information of a Scarsdale resident, possess fraudulent checks or makes fraudulent transactions, we will make an arrest and then continue to investigate the source of the fraudulent documents. Identity Theft is a rapidly growing crime, and in just the first two months of this year, Detectives have already made 5 arrests for Identity Theft and Fraud." Acosta was booked and released and given a court appearance date of 2/26.
A Black Birch Lane man reported that a fraudulent company check was made out to him was cashed on February 2. The check was not printed by the company and the signature was fraudulent.
A Richelieu Road woman reported that someone opened a Best Buy credit card account in her maiden name without her permission and charged $3,393 in merchandise on the card. She was advised to call the credit bureaus.
Snowbanks continued to cause problems this week. A Tuckahoe woman, driving west on Heathcote Road at 5:30 pm on 2-26 in a Toyota jeep, collided with an ice bank, slid about 50 feet and then ran into a utility pole. No injuries were reported.
Parking: This driver wasn't going to let a snowbank prevent him from parking in Scarsdale. Undeterred by a massive pile of 
ice, the driver simply drove up the bank, tipping the car and leaving the backwheel off the ground. Nice!
Potholes: A portion of the road at Fox Meadow and Butler Roads sunk. Police placed cones around it. A large pothole was reported in front of 10 Heathcote Road on 2-25. Several potholes were reported on Ferncliff Road on February 25.
Missing: A Rock Creek Lane girl reported that her wallet was stolen from her backpack when she was at Scarsdale High School on February 27. The wallet contained her NYS driver's permit, a debit car and $40 cash.
Lunch delivery: Police got a call about a red bag left on Horseguard Lane at 8 am on 2-26. They looked inside and saw that it belonged to a girl who lived on the street and contained her lunch. Since no one was home at her house police took the bag to Fox Meadow School to give the girl her bag. However, there they found out the child attends Scarsdale Middle School and they brought her lunch bag to the main office at SMS to be given to the student.
Erratic driver: A policeman stopped the driver of a 2011 Honda at 6:30 pm on 2/24 after he saw that her headlights were not on. The 82 year-old driver said she was not aware that the lights were off and the policeman turned them on for her. As she started to leave, she turned the lights off, put her car in reverse and almost backed into the police cruiser. Police stopped her again and she admitted that she did not know whether the lights were on or off as she usually does not drive at night. Police followed her home to Hartsdale.
Animals: An Elm Road woman reported that a raccoon was in her garbage can on 2-26. Police found an opossum in the can and suggested that the woman leave the can on its side so that the animal could get out. They checked with the woman later in the day and the opossum was gone.
Police shot a sick raccoon on Cooper Road on the afternoon of 2-28. A dead skunk was removed from Popham Road on the morning of 3-2.
Sewage: An Old Lyme road woman reported that a sewer line backed up into her basement at noon on March 1. The Highway Department was called to address the issue.
Arrests: Police stopped a Bronx man on the afternoon of 2-27 after he drove through a stop sign on Walworth Avenue in his 2009 Mitsubishi. Police pulled the driver over and found that the registration for the car was suspended due to unpaid parking violations. The drive, Ralph Navarra was issued summons' for going through the stop sign and driving without a registration. The license plates were removed from the car and it was towed to the man's business in Hartsdale.
Ida Sword, age 47 of Elmsford was stopped by police on Weaver Street on March 2 when their scanner revealed that the car had a suspended registration for lack of insurance. The plates were removed from the car and it was towed to her home. She was given summons for driving without a license, registration or insurance.

Snow and Ice Cause Woes in Scarsdale

Multiple snowstorms and ice caused problems for residents, police and the highway department who sent out plows to clear the streets: Here are just some of the many incidents that occured this past week in Scarsdale:
Slipped: A Scarsdale woman slipped on the ice while leaving Freightway Garage at 8 am on February 10 –- and while she was down a car drove over her right foot. The driver of the car stopped to assist the pedestrian.
A 61-year-old woman from Ardsley Road slipped on the sidewalk at Spencer Place at 12:30 pm on 2/12 and hit her wrist on a cast iron utility pole. She went to White Plains Hospital where she learned her wrist was broken. She reported the incident to police on 2-14 and they investigated. Though they did not find snow or ice in the area they noticed that the bluestone was raised.
A Garth Road woman was walking on East Parkway on the afternoon of February 12 when her hand was hit by the passenger side mirror of a BMW driven by a Larch Lane woman.
Hit and run: A 2013 Cadillac parked in front of 56 Garth Road was hit by another vehicle and damaged on the afternoon of 2/14. No note was left on the car.
Accidents: A three-car accident occurred on Heathcote Road at 2:30 on February 14 after a car went around a fire truck. The driver of the car in the opposite lane attempted to stop allow the oncoming car to get around the fire truck, but skidded and hit the oncoming car head-on. She was then hit from behind by a third car. The driver of the third car complained of head pain but no medical treatment was given.
A snowplow hit a car that was parked on Church Lane near Rectory Lane at 6:40 pm on February 13.
A Hastings woman, driving a 2012 Mercedes, made a U-turn on Scarsdale Avenue on the afternoon of 2-14 and hit a 2005 Hyundai that was park and unoccupied on the street.
Two cars collided on the Post Road on the afternoon of 2-13 when a Post Road man attempted to turn into his driveway from the left lane. Both cars were traveling south on the Post Road when the car in the left lane turned into his driveway and hit a Greenacres Avenue man who was driving south on the Post Road in the right lane.
A Bronxville woman, driving on Chase Road in Scarsdale Village at 5:30 pm on 2-15, skidded and ran into a postal truck.
A Dobbs Ferry man was stopped at a light at the intersection of Walworth Avenue and Fenimore Road on Saturday 2-15 at 6 pm when he was rear-ended by a woman from Woodside driving a 2012 Honda. The woman said she skidded and was unable to stop.
Vandalism: A Forest Lane woman reported that her 2013 Mercedes was damaged while it was parked in the Christie Place garage on February 10. She parked it there on the morning of the 10th and when her son picked it up at 3:15 the windshield was cracked and there were multiple scratches on the car's hood.
No Parking: On the morning of February 10, a homeowner at 50 Ogden Road called when he found a 2001 Acura parked in his driveway without his permission. Police traced the car to a Forest Lane home where the car's owner said that his daughter had driven it to school. He agreed to move the car.
On the night of February 10, a woman driving a Mercedes southbound on the Post Road hit a pothole near the intersection of Sherbrooke Road and got a flat tire. Police set up flares around the potholes.
Police put red bags over parking meters in Scarsdale Village to clear the area for snow removal. However, some parked in the spaces, perhaps unaware of why the meters were bagged. On the morning of 2-11, police tried to contact the owners of the cars who were parked in these spaces on Depot Place to ask them to move their cars. They gave parking tickets to those who could not be reached to move their cars.
The Scarsdale Highway Department reported that many parked cars were impeding its ability to plow on February 13 and 14. They asked police to locate the owners of cars parked on Drake Road, on Ridgecrest, on Dobbs Terrace, Elm Road, Brown Road, Fox Meadow Road, Varian Lane, Gilmore Court, Circle Road and Walworth Avenue.
Just after midnight on 2/14, a Butler Road man called police for assistance when his car was plowed in by the snowplow and he could not exit his driveway.
Skateboarders: Police got a call about metal debris in the road on Madison Road at 5 pm on 2-12. They went to Madison and found that kids had set up a skateboard ramp in the road and asked them to move it.
Ice Skaters: At 1:30 pm on 2-13 police got a call about kids skating on library pond. Police asked them to leave due to dangerous conditions.
Irate Resident: Police received a call from Village Hall on the afternoon of February 10 about a woman who was being argumentative with Village staff about a parking ticket she received. Police mediated the situation and told the woman that she could fight the ticket in Village Court.
Confused: On the evening of February 16 a Cushman Road woman called police for assistance with her elderly father who has Alzheimers. The man was insisting that he was missing money, though his daughter said that he was not. Police spoke to the man and resolved the conflict.
Arrests: A Connecticut man was issued summons for operating an unregistered car with improper license plates on the evening of February 10. Police noticed a Nissan Altima with the license plate resting inside the windshield and scanned the plate, which belonged to a Dodge Intrepid. When the driver returned, police followed him and pulled him over and he claimed that he had purchased the car in Norwalk but lost the title so that he was unable to register it or insure it and was driving with a borrowed license plate. Police impounded the car and seized the license plate. They contacted the owner of the license plate who denied lending it out.
Police stopped the driver of a backhoe on the Post Road on the afternoon of 2/12 when they noticed it did not have commercial plates. The backhoe was unregistered and uninsured and the driver could not produce proof of ownership. The operator said he could not register or insure it because he did not have the title. The backhoe was parked at the Scarsdale Highway Department while police investigated. The driver's brother came to headquarters with the bill of sale and the previous owner's registration. However, police could not contact the previous owner so the backhoe was impounded.
Shantaia Young of Bridgeport, CT was stopped by police on Weaver Street at 9 pm on 2/16 when their scanner revealed that the car she was driving was not registered. The registration had been suspended due to a lapse in insurance. Young was issued a summons and the car was towed.
Fernando Vega of Mamaroneck was also stopped on Weaver Street at 7 pm on 2/16. He was also driving a car with a suspended registration as a result of a lapse in insurance. He was issued a summons and his car was towed to his home.
