Found $2,000? A Greenacres man lost his wallet when he went to the school on the evening of March 7. He reported that the wallet, valued at $40, contained $2,000 in cash as well as his drivers license and credit cards.
Anyone see Beyoncé? On Heathcote Road, the search for Jay-Z and Beyoncé continues. A 15 year-old boy who lives at 15 Heathcote Road found a man and a woman on his property looking for the celebrity couple on the afternoon of March 4. When he told them that Jay Z and Beyoncé did not live there, they left.
Missing Generator: On 3/10, an Oneida Road man reported that a temporary generator, valued at $600, had been taken from his yard on the previous afternoon. When the resident returned home at 4 pm on 3/9 he found the gate to his backyard open and the generator gone. A second generator of the same make and model was left in the yard.
On March 4 a Mt. Kisco man came to Scarsdale Police to request help getting his car back from his son who has been using it for the past three years while living in Scarsdale in with his grandfather. Police contacted the grandfather. The car was located in White Plains and arrangements were made to turn it over to the complainant.
Death: Seymour Ruderman, age 86 of Quentin Road was found unresponsive on the stairway in his home at 9:54 am on March 9th. Ruderman's son had come to the house to check on his father when no one had heard from him and he was not picking up the phone. Ruderman was pronounced dead by Paramedic Stephanie Foley.
Car Thieves Interuppted: An observant nanny on Greenacres Avenue caught a car thief in the process of entering her car. She looked out the window of the house around 9:30 pm on Saturday night and saw a man with a flashlight trying to open the door of her car which was parked in front of the house on Greenacres Avenue. She opened the window and heard a man say, "this one is locked." She yelled, "Hey" and saw the man and two others jump into a parked car and leave. She said two of the men were wearing black hoodies and they were driving a black sedan, possibly a Saturn. Police canvaased the area but were unable to find the car.
Identity Thefts: A Walworth Avenue man reported that someone had made a fraudulent purchase on a Best Buy credit card in his name. He received a bill for $2,841 for three Apple iPads and a year of tech support for one of the iPads, all purchased in Westbury, N.Y. The man had opened the Best Buy account a year ago but never activated it.
A Brown Road man reported that on 3/3/13 an imposter used his personal information to create an account on billmelater.com and to make a $2,936.66 purchase from Hewlett Packard. He did not suffer any financial loss.
Erratic Bus Driver: On the afternoon of March 7 a man from Carman Road called police to say that a school bus driver was driving erratically on Heathcote Road near Brookby Road. The man followed the school bus to get the license plate or bus number. Police stopped the bus and spoke to the driver who denied driving erratically and said that she was contacting her supervisor about being followed by a Subaru. She said she was alarmed when she realized she was being followed.
Summons: Police issued a summons to workers on Dickel Road on Saturday morning 3/9 at 8 am when they were using power equipment to build a house before 10 am, in violation of village code.
Parents: A divorced dad called police on March 9 at 4 pm when he was supposed to drop the children off at his wife's home on Brite Avenue.. Though he called and said he was coming and waited with them in the driveway, the mother saw them playing basketball in the driveway and drove off.
An upset father from Scarsdale Avenue came to police headquarters at 1 am on 3/10 to ask police for help with his daughter who was drunk and agitated. Police calmed her down and got her to agree to go home with her folks.
A two year-old boy was locked out of a home on Madison Road at 4 pm on 3/7. The fire department came and was able to get into the house
Unwanted Visitor: A Colonial Road woman called police on the evening of March 10 when an unwanted visitor from Connecticut showed up on her street. The Scarsdale woman asked police to tell the friend that she no longer wanted to have a relationship with her and to ask her to cease all contact. The CT woman agreed to leave the area.
Damage to a garage door on Circle Road was reported on 3/5. Sometime between 2/24 and 3/1 the garage door windows were shattered and the framing was damaged. It appeared that the damage may have occurred when the doors suddenly flew open and was jarred by an automatic opener.
Hit and Runs: On Tuesday 3/5, a 2013 Volvo parked in front of 104 Brewster Road was hit by a car backing out of a driveway at 101 Brewster Road. The driver left without reporting the accident.
A Dolma Road woman reported that she parked her car on Depot Place for a few minutes on Tuesday afternoon March 5. When she returned, an unknown driver had hit her 2011 Infiniti. No note was left.

Thefts, Disagreements and a Dog Bite: From the Scarsdale Police

Thefts: An Elmsford woman reported that her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was shopping at DeCiccos on East Parkway in Scarsdale on Tuesday afternoon 2/25. She had her purse in her shopping cart and turned away to select an item from the produce aisle. When she turned back her wallet was gone. The woman had just come from work and was sure she had her wallet with her when she entered the store. Missing along with the wallet were a credit card, a checkbook and $5.00.
Also at DeCiccos, a purse was found in the store's trash compactor on 2/25. The purse had been left in a shopping cart by a Madison Road woman on 2/21 who later realized she had lost it and returned to the store to look for it.. When she returned, the contents of her purse were found in the parking lot but the bag and $40 were missing. On 2/25, the bag was found in the compactor. The store reviewed a surveillance video and saw a maintenance man pushing the cart with the pocketbook toward the recycling bin – but the video did not reveal what happened to the purse afterwards.
A Taunton Road woman reported that items had been stolen from two cars parked at her home, sometime between January 24 and January 26. Both an Acura and Mercedes were entered and a set of golf clubs, sunglasses an Apple iTouch and two iPhone chargers were stolen.
A Catherine Road woman reported that a 2.67 emerald cut diamond ring set in a platinum band, valued at $18,000 had been stolen from her home sometime between December 31, 2012 and February 10, 2013.
On Bell Road, a bumper guard and a license plate were removed from a car parked in a driveway overnight on 2/27-2/28.
Missing Flute: A ten year-old boy left his Jupiter flute, valued at $1,200 on a counter outside a Heathcote School classroom before the spring break on February 15, 2013. When he returned to school on February 25 the flute was missing. The flute was rented from Ardsley Music.
Missing Visitor: A Brewster Road woman called police at 6:38 pm on 2/26 when she was unable to locate her aunt who was visiting from Canada. The woman was supposed to pick up her niece at Scarsdale High School at 2 pm but had a car accident and ended up at Stamford Hospital.
Missing Car: At the Shell Station in Scarsdale, the manager reported that an Avis rental car had not been returned. The Volkswagon was rented on January 15 by Emuobome Amrailbure of the Bronx, and was supposed to be returned on 1/22. However, the man failed to return the car and could not be reached.
Guns Surrendered: A Secor Road woman turned three guns over to the police for safekeeping on February 28. The guns belonged to her husband who had recently passed away. She had valid permits for the firearms.
Ouch: A Lincoln Road man came to police to report that he was bitten by a neighbor's dog while he was walking to the bus stop on Crossway on the morning of March 1. He was approached by two dogs and restrained the first one but a small dog came from behind him and bit his leg. The dogs' owner came out of the house and restrained both dogs. Though the bite was not large he reported it to the police as he was concerned about contracting rabies. The dog's owner was able to provide documentation to show that the dog's vaccinations were up to date.
Arrest: Edgar Flores, age 24 of Yorktown presented himself to Scarsdale Police in response to an active warrant on the evening of March 1. He had failed to appear at Village court for driving without a license and the judge issued a warrant. He was processed, released on $100 bail and given a court date of 3/13/13.
Found: At 8 pm on 2/26 police found a small brown pug with no tags on Brewster Road. Police put the dog into the car and brought him to headquarters where they were able to find the dog's owner from the "lost dog book." They returned the dog to Roman Rivas of White Plains and gave the man a summons.
Abuse? A woman who would not identify herself went to police at 10:30 pm on 2/26 to ask for help. She had a cut on her hand but would not explain how she got it. She asked for help taking a picture of the cut with the camera on her phone and said she could not stay because she had to go to work. She said that "her family bothers her" and that her husband has a girlfriend. Police provided her with emergency phone numbers and urged her to come back another time.
Disputes: On Lee Road police helped a concerned mother who was having a fight with her daughter at 9:30 pm on 2/27. The daughter refused to attend a court ordered program but after speaking to police she agreed to go.
Also on Lee Road at 7:30 am on 2/28, police went to a home after a 13 year-old refused to go to school. Police were able to convince the girl to attend. On the morning of March 2nd, a Ferncliff Road boy dialed 911 because he did not want to attend his German class. Police spoke to the boy about dialing 911 in a non-emergency situation.
At 5:40 am on March 4, a 12 year-old from Sycamore Road called police to say that she heard breaking glass downstairs. When police arrived the girl's mother said that her daughter had watched a scary movie the previous night and was spooked.
Fire: At 5:20 pm on 3/1 police got a report of a fire set on Hyatt Field. A good Samaritan had put the fire out by the time police arrived and reported that he saw kids start the fire and chased them away.
CO2 leak: On the afternoon of 2/27 police and fire got a call about a CO2 leak at Scarsdale Art and Frame on Christie Place. The fire department called an ambulance but the store employees refused medical attention.
Police Report: Identity Thieves Target Scarsdale Residents

Identity Thefts: A School Lane resident reported that someone made three failed attempts to take $400 out of his checking account without his authorization on 1-25. The bank then issued new credit and debit cards to the man and his wife. Though the man's wife did not activate her card, two unauthorized withdrawals of $160 each were made from two Chase banks in Scarsdale on 2-2-13. The victim stated that no one else had access to his account and no cards were lost so he was concerned as to how someone was accessing their accounts. The man reported the unauthorized transactions to Chase.
On 2-13 a Chateaux Circle woman reported that two credit cards had been opened in her name at Toys R Us and at Walmart. The cards had been used to buy $175 in merchandise from Toys R Us and to order a baby thermometer that was delivered to her Scarsdale address.
A Fox Meadow Road man reported that between 1-18 and 1-25-13 he received three credit cards in the mail for which he did not apply. A card from The Gap was used to charge $3,000 in merchandise and cards from J. Crew and Bloomingdales each had charges of $300.
On 2-17 a Post Road man reported that two of his credit card accounts had been compromised. He learned from Chase Bank that someone had reported that his credit card was stolen and requested that a new one be sent to an address in Minnesota. Charges of $799 were made on that card. In addition, a similar attempt was made on his Discover account where someone requested that a new card be sent to McClean Avenue in Mt. Vernon. However Discover flagged the request as suspicious and did not send the card.
Lost and Found:
Missing Toyota: A Walworth Avenue woman called police at 7 am on 2/13 when she awoke and found her 2010 Toyota Camry missing. She suspected it was stolen. However it turns out that the car was repossessed.
Stolen Goods Returned: A framed newspaper print of George Washington that had been stolen from the home of a Mamaroneck Road man was returned to the owner on the morning of 2-13.
A mother in law reported that her daughter-in-law had removed items from the safe deposit box held by her son and her daughter-in-law on 2-16. However, since the box was held jointly the daughter-in-law had the right to access it. Police got in touch with the daughter-in-law who agreed to turn the key over to her husband.
Napping: A resident reported that a person was asleep in his car at the Brite Avenue tennis courts on the morning of 2-13. Police spoke to the man who said he was passing through Scarsdale between jobs and pulled over to take a nap.
A Magnolia Road man complained on 2-16 that his neighbor was walking his dog without a leash. Police stopped by the home of the dog walker and advised them that dogs must be on a leash in Scarsdale.
Fight: A feuding Oneida Road couple called police on the afternoon of 2-16 when they got into a dispute about going to an afternoon appointment. When police arrived the two agreed to spend the day apart and cool off.
Public Urination: A woman called police on the afternoon of 2-16 to say that a man had just attempted to break into her car that was parked at the Scarsdale Community Baptist Church. Police spoke to the man and found that he was not breaking into the woman's car – but he was peeing near the rear driver's side tire. He said that he had received a blood transfusion that day and was unable to hold his urine.
Harassed: A 78 year-old woman who lives on Windsor Lane reported that she received approximately 40 unwanted phone calls between November 1, 2012 and February 11, 201.3 The caller would claim that she had won a prize and instruct her to send a money order to claim the winnings. The police called back the number from where the calls originated and the person on the other end denied making the calls.
Accidents:
Overturned Sanitation Cart: at 7:15 am on 2-11 a Highway Department employee, who was driving a sanitation cart on Catherine Road, skidded, slid into a snow bank and rolled the vehicle over. By the time police arrived, the vehicle was already back on its wheels.
The same morning, a driver from Hartsdale Taxi, travelling on Cayuga Road with his passenger in back, lost control of the car, and ended up atop some bushes on the front lawn of 8 Cayuga Road.
On the evening of 2-11, three cars were damaged when they drove through a pothole on the Post Road. Two of the cars had damage to both the front and rear passenger sides wheels and were towed away while the third car had only one damaged tire and could still be driven. Police notified the Highway Department to fill the holes in the road -- which they quickly did.
An employee from the Highway Department complained that ice on the road had caused his car to skid off Murray Hill Road at 6:35 am on the morning of 2-11. The passenger side front wheel rim and the car's alignment were damaged when he slid into the snow.
At 9 am on 2-14 someone from the Alcott Montessori School called police to report that a woman had fallen on the ice in the parking lot. However the woman who fell said she was fine and did not request help. By the time police arrived, she as gone.

Burglars Steal Safe and $30,000 in Jewelry from Meadow Road Home

Meadow Road residents were victims of a burglary that occurred between 7:42 pm and 10:10 pm on 2/21. The homeowner came home to find a rear sliding door open and a screen on a back window removed and damaged. Police determined that the screen and window had been pried open to allow the vandal(s) to unlock the sliding door and get into the house. Inside the resident found that his safe containing jewelry and personal documents had been taken from the house. There were scratches on the hardwood floor and the patio where the safe had been dragged from the house. The safe was reported to weigh more than 100 pounds and contained, among other items, a $25,000 diamond engagement ring and a $5,000 diamond necklace. Also missing from the upstairs closet were a Chanel purse and a Cartier watch. The home is equipped with a video camera and the residents will supply the footage to the police along with a list of missing items.
On Brookline Road, police responded to a burglar alarm on the morning of 2/21 and found that a back door had been kicked in and broken off it's frame. The door led to two tool rooms below the kitchen – but entry was barred from there to the rest of the home. The homeowner returned and checked the tool rooms and found nothing missing or out of place.
A Sony Playstation was stolen from a home on Brookline Road sometime between 2/18 and 2/20. The theft was discovered and reported by two housekeepers, and police determined that the suspects broke into a den door in the back of the house and made off with the game equipment.
Harassment: An Olmstead Road woman went to the police station on 2/20 to report the receipt of unwanted text messages from an Eastchester woman with whom she worked at Will2Lose Gym. The complainant did not answer the messages and also rebuffed the woman when she attempted to speak to her at the gym. When the owner of the gym instructed the front desk attendant to call the police to document the incident, the Eastchester woman came to the Scarsdale woman's home but not find her at home. Police contacted the Eastchester woman and told her to cease all contact. The Eastchester woman came to police headquarters to present her side of the story.
On 2/22 a woman who works for a Reimer Road family reported that since last May she has been receiving unwanted advances from a man who works as caretaker in the neighborhood. The man, named Rocco, follows her when she walks the dog and harasses her though she explained to him that she was not interested and married. Police went to the home where Rocco works and called him to come to the station. The man admitted to making advances and following the woman in his car. Police told him to cease all contact with her or she will press charges against him.
Lost and Found: On 2/21 a Scarsdale woman gave police a wallet that she found in front of 24 Chase Road about two weeks earlier. The wallet belonged to a 17 year-old girl from Armonk and contained cash, credit cards, an insurance card and 13 gift cards.
An Apple iPhone was found on Depot Place near the Scarsdale Train Station and turned over to the police on the afternoon of 2/23. Police called the number on the phone listed as "home" and left a message. A Pennsylvania man called to claim the phone and said he was in Scarsdale earlier that day.
On 2/22 an Aspen Road woman reported that a black tin box that was located in her closet was missing. The box contained valuables. She also explained that she has health care workers in the house to tend to her husband.
DOA: Jacoby Hospital on Pelham Parkway in the Bronx called Scarsdale Police on the morning of 2/19 in an attempt to reach the next of kin of a deceased man in the emergency room. Police went to the Dodoo residence at 4 Windmill Circle and learned that the house has been vacant for over a year. They were instructed by a neighbor to go to Gorham Road to make notification to Janine Dodoo of the passing of her ex-husband.
Domestic Trouble: Police got a 911 call from a crying Bradley Road woman who reporting domestic abuse on the afternoon of 2/21. When they arrived at the house police found that the woman had gone to the doctor, but spoke to her husband who reported that the two had gotten into an argument about the keys to the house. He also said that his wife had recently had surgery and was overly emotional. Police called the woman's cell phone and left a message. She called later and said she was okay but refused to return to the house to speak to the police.
A man from Boulevard in Scarsdale called police on the afternoon of 2/19 to report that his daughter has been stealing money from him and that his glasses and pictures from World War II are also missing. Police believe that the claims were unfounded and called the office of the Westchester adult advocate to say that the man was unable to care for himself.
Raccoon: At 6:46 pm on Sunday 2/24 police received a call about an injured raccoon on Brewster Road. They were unable to find it but at 7:30 pm they got another call and located the injured raccoon on Butler Road. They killed it, moved it to the side of the road and advised the Highway Department to pick it up.
Dog: A Rodney Road woman called police at 4 am on 2/25 when a loud beeping noise in the house caused her dog to run away. Police found that the noise was coming from a CO2 sensor with a low battery and helped the woman find her dog.
Accident: An 85 year-old NYC man driving south on the Post Road in a 2010 Lincoln on the afternoon of February 21 was rear ended by an 82 year-old woman driving behind him in a 2004 Honda. The Lincoln was stopped at a red light and the Bronxville woman driving the Honda said she was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.
Funds Stolen From Scarsdale Schools and Burglar Enters Occupied Home

Fraud: On 2/6, Jeff Martin, the Treasurer for the Scarsdale Schools reported that four fraudulent checks, totaling more than $5,000 had been cashed from the school's account. While reconciling the school's account he realized that the funds were withdrawn on 1/29/13. The suspect used duplicated checks. The matter is under investigation by the fraud department at Chase Bank and the Scarsdale Police.
A Greenacres Avenue man was the victim of identity theft involving accounts at Chase Bank. On 2/4 he reported that the Allied Bank fraud department advised him that someone used his social security number and mother's maiden name to open two new accounts using a Brooklyn address. The person then transferred $20 to each of the accounts from the Scarsdale man's Chase account, using his account number. When he went to the Chase Bank on Central Avenue he found that someone had changed the email address on his account and asked for paperless statements so that he was unable to see the transactions. Chase closed his account and he called his credit card companies to alert them.
Burglaries: Around 6 pm on Monday February 4, a Hutchinson Avenue man was home at work in his
office when someone entered the house and rifled through its contents. The man heard a noise, went out to check and found open drawers, disturbed contents and missing items. He called the police who found that the suspect entered the house by breaking a pane of glass in the back of the house and unlocking the door. The homeowner never saw anyone but believes the burglary occurred while he was in his office in the house.
On February 6, a Carthage Road woman returned home around 8:20 pm and found that her bedroom had been entered and tossed. Her closet door was open as well as her jewelry box and one pillowcase was missing from the bed. The woman forwarded a list of stolen property to the police and said that she had left the front door of the house unlocked in the morning.
Bumper: After a car accident occurred on Gaylor Road on the morning of 2/6 police found a car bumper with the license plate attached. They checked the plate number and found it belonged on a 2002 Toyota Camry owned by a Nelson Road woman. They tried to reach the woman but got no answer. The license plate and bumper have been stored at Police headquarters.
Harassment: On 2/7, a Burgess Road woman reported the receipt of a harassing letter on 2/6. The letter was from the Environmental Control Board/Park and Recreation Enforcement Office of New York City and claimed that her car was seen at a prostitution sting in Staten Island. She contacted the sender who said that the reference number on the letter does not exist and she suspects it is a fraud. She did however leave her car in Staten Island from 12/229 – 12/29 while she was on vacation. She also reported that the contents of the letter were similar to one received by her father in November 2012 that accused him of being a predator. The woman feared for her safety because the sender had her home address and phone number.
Missing man: Concerned family members called police at 7:30 pm on 2/6 when they were unable to locate their father. His wife said he was supposed to pick her up at the Harwood Building at 7:00 pm but could not reach him because she had his cell phone. When she got home he was not there and since he has a history of cardiac problems she was worried. Police notified the Scarsdale and Eastchester Police Departments and while they were investigating the man returned. He said he had gone for a walk to the bank and the Food Emporium.
Angry daughter: Cooper Road parents called police at 12:15 am on February 10 after they were unable to find their 17 year-old daughter. The girl had left the house in a bad mood at 10:30 pm on 2-9. While searching the area police found the girl walking and returned her to her home.
Stuck: A construction lift, owned by a company that was working on the St. Pius Church roof broke down on Secor Road between Marjory Lane and Ramsey Road on the night of 2/6. The owner said he would not be able to move it until the following morning. Traffic cones and reflectors were set up around it.
Fight: At DeCicco's an employee reported a dispute with a customer on the morning of 2/7. The customer complained that the bags in the produce department were too high and that she had hurt her shoulder while reaching for one of the bags. The woman had left the store by the time police arrived.
A man from Daisy Farms Drive said that he was picking up his son from temple at Ogden Road and Kent Road on the evening of 2/10 when a man knocked on the driver's side car window, yelled at him and spit at him.
Lost and found: A set of car keys was found sitting atop a parking meter on East Parkway on the night of February 5th. Police brought the keys to headquarters and were able to find the owner by tracing the customer numbers on tags for Shoprite, CVS, Balducci's, the New York Sports Club and Stop and Shop. They belonged to a Potter Road woman who came in to pick them up.
The crossing guard at the Fox Meadow School called police at 8:19 am on Monday 2/11 when a dog was found in the middle of the road and the guard was unable to locate the owner. The guard brought the dog to the address on the tags but no one was at home. The dog's owner, a Park Road woman came to the police station looking for the dog and they sent her over to Fox Meadow to pick him up.
Dog Bite: A woman reported that she was bitten by a dog owned by a Wayside Lane family on the afternoon of February 5.
