A fatality on the Metro North tracks at the Botanical Gardens station in the Bronx halted both the Harlem and New Haven lines on Tuesday evening and left thousands stranded at Grand Central.

A male student from Fordham Prep was struck by a northbound train at the station around 3:30 pm, in an apparent suicide. Since the New Haven and Harlem lines share the track at Botanical Gardens the fatality caused both lines to be shut down for a police investigation. The accident caused significant delays for passengers on both lines throughout the night. Metro North was back on schedule on Tuesday morning.botanicalgardens

This is the second suicide for Fordham Prep in just two weeks. Another Fordham Prep jumped to his death in front of a Metro North train at Phillipse Manor two weeks ago.
