Enjoy a free 30 minute organ recital on the mighty
“King of Instruments” on Thursdays at noon during Lent here at Hitchcock
Presbyterian\, Scarsdale. These recitals feature “Rising Stars” in the org
an world and are all students of Paul Jacobs at The Juilliard School. They
will perform on The J. W. Walker organ in the sanctuary from 12-12:30\, f
ollowed by lunch served in the Lower Children's House. The series is named
after Marguerite Manley who was a long-time member of Hitchcock and on th
e committee responsible for selecting the organ in 1990\, and was a wonder
ful supporter of the music program. These recitals are made possible throu
gh the generosity of the Manley Family.
These recitals are free and open to the public\, so pass the word and bring friends. Reservations are NOT necessar

The original 16mm film was found in storage at the Scarsdale Publi c Library\, and all 1\,200 feet of film has been digitized and preserved b y the Scarsdale Historical Society. This historic treasure presents a stun ning\, visual testimony of Scarsdale life in the 1940’s. The footage captu res Scarsdale’s landmarks as they appeared almost 80 years ago\, including the only-known footage of some sites that no longer exist.
\nThe mo tion picture is associated with many high-profile figures\, particularly t he president of Twentieth Century Fox\, Murray Silverstone of Richbell Clo se. His wife\, Dorothy Silverstone\, was one of the leaders of the charita ble organization behind the film. It was produced by stage producer Julian Olney and narrated by preeminent American broadcaster Lowell Thomas.
