A glass door leading to the master bedroom was found broken, causing approximately $2,000 worth of damage. Jewelry worth $5,000 was reported stolen.

Stolen
A driver parked on East Parkway reported someone stole three signs, valued at $200, from her car Aug. 28.
On Aug. 31, a Black Birch Lane woman reported that two mink fur coats had been stolen. She accused a real estate agent of the theft. The coats were valued at $10,000.
On Sept. 1, a Seneca Road man reported his air pods were missing and showing a signal that they were in Peekskill. The man said a contractor had been working in his house on a computer around the time the air pods disappeared. Police called the contractor to inquire about the air pods. He said he would look for them and bring them to police headquarters if he found them.
On Sept. 1, a Spencer Place storeowner reported multiple items had been stolen from her store. Stolen items included two pieces of clothing and a cross body bag. They were valued at $1,225.

Identity theft
On Aug. 30, a River Road man reported he received a Verizon bill that stated that three iPhones and multiple phone lines were purchased on an account he did not open.
On Sept. 1, a Christie Place resident reported seeing over $3,400 in unauthorized charges to Verizon on his bank account. He informed the bank of the fraud.

Help
On Aug. 30, County Police reported they were out with an elder caretaker asking for help with her elderly patient from Stratton Road. Patrol arrived on scene and met with multiple Westchester County Police Officers. County Police advised that while on a security detail at the golf course they observed an elderly female screaming and running into traffic. The elderly female advised officers that she believed unknown male parties were chasing her. Shortly thereafter the woman’s caretaker arrived to assist. Upon patrol's arrival, all was in good order and the caretaker and the woman’s husband stated that all was in good order and that no medical attention was required.

Doorbells
Kids were observed, via a doorbell camera, playing Ding Dong Ditch – by ringing doorbells and running away – on Walworth Avenue Aug. 28.

On Aug. 29, kids were playing Ding Dong Ditch on Edgewood Road. Police canvassed the neighborhood and dispersed the kids.

Dispute
Police stood by while a man and woman who were experiencing a verbal dispute waited for MTA police at the Scarsdale Train Station Aug. 29.

Civil matter
On Sept. 1, police intervened in an ongoing civil dispute between two Griffen Avenue residents over the use of a shared driveway.

Cars and roadways
On Aug. 28, police called a tow for a car stuck on Mamaroneck Road.
On Aug. 28, police cleaned up three boxes of staples spilled on Post Road.
On Aug. 29, a Corell Road resident reported that an unknown individual using his temporary NJ license plate incurred toll fees in New York City earlier this month. The temporary plate has been deleted from the account and is no longer associated with the account.
A Tesla was left at a Scarsdale Avenue gas station for service, but the owner failed to leave keys or contact information on Aug. 29. Police contacted the owner and facilitated communication to get the car serviced.
On Aug. 29, police moved a metal road plate back into position on Popham Road.
On Aug. 30, police checked on a disabled car on Dell Road. The local owner said he had a flat tire and would be returning to repair the tire soon.
A pothole was reported on Mamaroneck Road Aug. 30.
Following a traffic stop on Crane Road for a brake light violation, police issued a 26-year-old New Rochelle driver summonses for unlicensed driving Sept. 1.
On Sept. 1, police removed the license plates of an unregistered car as a result of a traffic stop on Heathcote Road. The car was towed to the owner’s Hartsdale residence.
A Wayside Lane branch fell on a parked 2014 Subaru and damaged it Sept. 2. The tree was a Village owned tree.
Police notified a cable company about a fallen wire on Nelson Road Sept. 2.

Village code
On Aug. 29, police dispersed a group of kids from Huntington Avenue after dark.
Police removed illegally posted signs from Bypass and discarded them Aug. 30.

On Sept. 1, police notified a Post Road party host that neighbors complained about noise from loud talking.

Animals
Police reunited a lost dog found on Heathcote Road with its owner Aug. 30.

On Sept. 3, a caller reported walking her dog in Butler Woods and observed a cage, with a bag inside of it. She stated there appeared to be maggots crawling on the bag. Police investigated and it appeared that someone was using the cage to feed animals.

Lost and found
A debit card found on Fenimore Road Aug. 29 had already been reported stolen and cancelled.
On Aug. 2, a wallet found near Fox Meadow School was returned to police.

Firefighters
On Aug. 28, firefighters assisted at two unrelated car accidents on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

On Aug. 29, a Quentin Road resident with Covid accidentally got locked in the basement while she was isolating. Firefighters used a mask for safety and health reasons and managed to open the door.

On Sept. 1, firefighters were dispatched to Brambach Road a reported kitchen fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered the home's resident on the front porch being attended to by neighbors. The resident stated that the kitchen was on fire. Firefighters entered the structure and observed a smoke condition from an extinguished kitchen fire. Complete extinguishment was confirmed via a thermal imager. All levels of the home were evaluated for carbon monoxide, and zero readings were observed. A cooking pot with smoldering contents was removed from the structure. Positive pressure ventilation was used to eliminate accumulated smoke. The resident stated that herbal materials were left unattended cooking in a pot on the stove with a natural gas burner set to low. The resident was outside the home and was alerted to the fire via an audible exterior fire alarm. The resident shut off the gas range and used a lid to smother the pot's ignited contents. The fire extended to the plastic exterior of the over-the-range microwave. A neighbor used a pull-down kitchen faucet to apply water to the combustible materials. The resident was assessed by SVAC for smoke inhalation and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

BTSPlazaOn Aug. 27, patrol was conducting a DWI/Safety checkpoint on Mamaroneck Road in the vicinity of the Scarsdale Pool when a vehicle was observed pulling into the parking lot of the Crossway Fields. Due to the time of night and the park being closed, it appeared the vehicle pulled off the roadway in an attempt to avoid the checkpoint. Police followed the vehicle into the parking lot area and found it in the rear of the Little League parking lot operating a slow rate of speed with only its running lights illuminated. Police initiated emergency lights to conduct an investigatory stop and determined the operator to be under the influence of alcohol. The operator – William Ramon Castillo Rodriguez, 27, of White Plains – was subsequently arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. He was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket for Scarsdale Village Justice Court on Sept. 13.

No Driver’s License
On Aug. 24, police observed a car speeding on Fox Meadow Road. Police conducted a traffic stop and issued the Robert Harrison, age 82, a summonses for speeding and unlicensed driving. This was not Harrison’s first offense. On April 18, 2023 police spotted Harrison, driving his car on Post Road near Rugby Lane, despite having a suspended license. He hit another car and was not able to recall what had happened. Harrison asked to be taken to the hospital. He was issued summonses for unlicensed driving, failure to use the designated land and moving from the lane unsafely.

Stolen
On Aug. 23, a Hampton Road homeowner reported her house was under construction and she saw that someone broke a glass sliding door, entered the site overnight and stole tools valued over $3,000.

Theft
On Aug. 27, a Christie Place business owner requested police to stand by while he fired an employee whom he discovered had been stealing money from the cash register. The employee admitted to stealing funds from the store and paid back what had been taken that day. Patrol advised him that his boss would not be pressing charges but wished that the employee no longer returned to the store.

Car break-ins
On Aug. 21, a Mamaroneck Road pool visitor reported her car was broken into, via a smashed window, and items were stolen. These included a cell phone and two backpacks containing youth soccer gear.

On Aug. 24, a River Road man reported his car had been broken into in the past, and Items were stolen. He did not want to file a formal report.

On Aug. 24, a Montrose Road woman reported her unlocked car had been broken into overnight.

Threat
An employee at an East Parkway bank called police after a customer threatened to harm staff if he “did not get a wire transfer” Aug. 23. Employees specifically said the man engaged in a verbal dispute with a banker regarding funds involved in a wire transfer. During said dispute the man allegedly stated, "Do I need to kill someone?" At no time did the dispute become physical, and staff was not interested in pursuing legal action. Patrol entered the bank and observed the man to be calm and discussing the incident with other staff. The man was escorted out of the business without incident and was advised to work with a different branch.

Mischief
A Johnson Road man reported kids were ringing doorbells on the street and running away Aug. 23.

Civil matter
On Aug. 22, police mediated a discussion between neighbors who share a driveway on Griffen Avenue, after one neighbor blocked in construction contractors who were working for the other neighbor. The car was successfully moved. On Aug. 23, the neighbors were continuing to dispute access to the driveway. They could not agree. Police advised them it was a civil matter.

Help
On Aug. 26, a Heathcote Road woman called police after hearing a loud bang upstairs. The woman then said her husband was on scene and did not want her to call police for assistance. The woman also advised they were having trouble opening a locked door at the house. No parties were reported inside the locked room. The woman requested an exterior check of the residence, which yielded no findings. Patrol made contact with the husband who advised all was in order, and requested no further assistance.

On Aug. 27, the exterior of a glass paneled door was found to be broken after the Rock Creek Lane resident returned home from vacation, The interior pane was intact, and police found no signs of criminality.

Road rage
On Aug. 23, a driver reported he had been driving in Greenburgh when a motorist started yelling and following him closely until he got into Scarsdale’s jurisdiction on Fenimore Rd. The driver then said that the motorist then turned left onto Walworth Ave.

Accidents
A car accident occurred at Mamaroneck Road and the Hutchinson River Parkways ramps Aug. 23. Summonses were issued to one 23-year-old White Plains driver for aggravated unlicensed driving, a registration violation and failure to yield the right of way.

Six car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Cars and roadways
On Aug. 21, police asked a driver to move his parked car from a Webster Road work zone.
A Cornell Street woman returned home from vacation Aug. 21 and found one of her car windows to be broken. Police created a report and found no signs of criminality.
Police taped up a drooping wire on Lincoln Road and notified Verizon Aug. 21.
On Aug. 22, police gave directions to a driver on Popham Road looking for a highway entrance.
On Aug. 22, while conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Crossway and Lincoln Road, a black BMW traveling north on Crossway was driving in violation of the posted speed. Patrol stopped the vehicle and asked for the operator's driver's license, proof of insurance and vehicle registration. During investigation, police found that the vehicle had an expired registration. The operator also possessed a learner's permit. Police issued the 18-year-old Bronx driver appropriate summonses and towed the car to the Scarsdale Police Department's impound lot.
On Aug. 22, a Boulevard Road resident his car’s struts were damaged after driving over his street while it was milled for repaving and he hit a bump that had not been properly marked on Aug. 20. He was advised to contact his insurance company.
On Aug. 23, a driver reported some debris hit her windshield while she was driving on Post Road. Patrol observed a crack in the upper portion of the driver's side of the windshield. Dust and fragments left by this piece of debris gave the appearance that the damage was in fact inflicted recently. Police advised her to contact her insurance company.
A tree fell on Post Road Aug. 25. Police taped off the area and advised the highway department for removal.
An unlocked parking meter was found on Spencer Place Aug. 27. Police removed the coin cylinder.

Village code
Police used a doorbell camera to speak with a Fox Meadow Road woman and advise her that an interior alarm had been sounding for approximately 20 minutes. She said she would address it. After neighbors complained about the alarm while they were trying to sleep and refused police access to turn off the alarm, police issued a noise summons.

An alarm was sounding in a Boulder Brook Road house while contractors were performing floor work with windows open for ventilation Aug. 25. Police advised the homeowner and were given permission to remove batteries from the malfunctioning alarm.

On Aug. 25, a Shaw Road party host was advised to keep the noise level down after neighbors complained.

On Aug. 25, police issued a summons to a company that illegally posted an advertising sign in the Village right of way on Park Road.

Police informed people fishing at an Olmsted Road pond that fishing was not allowed as per a posted Village code sign Aug. 27.

On Aug. 27, a Dickel Road party host was advised to keep the noise level down after neighbors complained.

Lost and found
On Aug. 21, an Obry Driver reported mailing various documents to the passport renewal agency for a passport replacement in June. In July, she received the documents back, but she noticed her birth certificate was missing.

On Aug. 26, a passerby found an i-Phone on East Parkway. Police contacted the owner who picked up her lost phone.

On Aug. 26, another cell phone was also found on East Parkway. Police contacted the owner and facilitated the phone’s return.

Firefighters
On Aug. 23, firefighters assisted at separate Mamaroneck Road and Palmer Avenue car accidents.
Firefighters were dispatched to a gas leak inside a Scarsdale Avenue building Aug. 23. They encountered a heavy odor of natural gas in the street upon arrival and forced their way into the building. Con Edison arrived and shut the gas supply at the meter located on the exterior of the building. All doors were opened to allow for natural ventilation of the structure. Con Edison completed their survey of the property and concluded that the leak originated from inside the building. They locked the gas meter until a repair could be made.
A passing cement truck caused a utility pole to fall on Catherine Road and take down wires Aug. 24. Firefighters blocked to road for safety and stood by for Con Edison.
Firefighters helped a woman retrieve her cell phone after it fell through a Church Lane storm drain Aug. 25.
On Aug. 26, firefighters assisted at a Bronx River Parkway car accident.
On Aug. 27, firefighters were dispatched to Lee Road for carbon monoxide alarm activation. They found a gas-fired water heater was source for elevated CO readings in the basement and stood by for Con Edison. The water heater was shut off, and the resident was advised to service the unit prior to turning it back on.
On Aug. 27, firefighters assisted at a Weaver Street car accident.

chiefsArrests: On Aug. 10, police arrested Melissa A. Pearson, 44, of the Bronx, after a traffic stop on Post Road for speeding revealed that Pearson –identified as a fugitive from justice – was wanted on an active arrest warrant issued out of Georgia. Police contacted police in Georgia, and they indicated they would extradite her. Therefore, Pearson was remanded to Westchester County jail.

On Aug. 11, police arrested Dennis McCarthy, 52, of the Bronx, on charges of third-degree criminal mischief, as a result of an investigation into an ongoing case. McCarthy was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket for Scarsdale Village Justice Court, returnable on Aug. 16. A temporary order of protection was issued in favor of the alleged victim.

Burglary
A Mamaroneck Road resident reported someone broke unto his house while he was out walking his dog Aug. 11. Jewelry was stolen. Police are investigating.

Stolen
On Aug. 8, a Ridgedale Road resident reported that her vehicle was stolen in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on June 27. She advised making a police report with the Montreal Police Department. Patrol issued her appropriate forms to report her license plates as stolen with the DMV.

On Aug. 10, A Mamaroneck Road woman reported two “boxwood trees,” worth almost $200, had been stolen from her property.

Check fraud
On Aug. 7, an Overhill Road woman reported that two $50 checks that she mailed had been altered. The first check had been re-written for $10,500.46, and had a new unknown recipient of “Anthony L. Adom.” The second check had been re-written for $12,700 and had a new recipient of “Jared R. Carion.” The woman was not at a financial loss because the first check bounced and the second was flagged by her bank as fraudulent before being deposited.

Con Edison incident
On Aug. 13, firefighters were dispatched to Stratton Road at Carthage Lane for wires down and burning. Upon arrival, crews noted a downed primary electrical wire arcing and burning with extension to surrounding area grass, asphalt, and curbstone. Arcing was continuous with a prominent hum. Con Edison was notified of the hazardous condition. Fire department members created a perimeter and staged personnel to control traffic and pedestrians. Scarsdale police assisted with traffic control. Firefighters performed exterior assessments of homes along Stratton Road via rear yards, finding no smoke or fires present. When Con Edison technicians arrived, they instructed de-energized the primary wire, and firefighters established a water supply and flushed the area with copious amounts of water. Water was applied for over one hour, with water observed to be boiling from the crater. The involved area included the driveway, grass, and curbstone of a Stratton Road residence, as well as the nearby roadway. Due to ground penetration, firefighters assessed natural gas service to the home, as well as the integrity of the curb valve, finding no indication of eminent hazard. Con Edison gas technicians confirmed firefighters’ findings and determined the area was safe, as far as gas service was concerned. Con Edison’s electrical technicians continued to remove hazards, and they partially restored power to the area, as electric work crews began to assemble for extensive repairs.

Dispute
Police intervened in a dispute involving drivers who had previously been involved in a car accident on Weaver Street Aug. 8. Upon arrival, patrol spoke with the involved parties and discovered that one of the parties had a suspended NYS driver’s license, and his vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. The vehicle was impounded and, summonses were issued on scene to the 25-year-old Brooklyn driver.

Suspicious
A Murray Hill Road resident reported a damaged window screen Aug. 9. Investigating officers confirmed cut damage inflicted to a first-story window screen. Officer noted the screen appeared to have been intentionally cut, since the cut made a square flap in the center of the screen. The resident's daughter stated that she had been checking doors and windows “as a nightly routine,” and she was certain the screen was not damaged when she checked the screen on the evening of August 4. It was, however, observed to be damaged on Aug. 9. The resident said no other damage was observed; no items were missing; and no signs of attempted forced entry were noted.

On Aug. 9, a Vanderbilt Road resident reported someone rang her doorbell before returning to a parked car on the street around 10 p.m. the resident said the car had been parked on the street “for a long time.” Police arrived on scene and noticed two cars on the street, with occupants apparently working on one of the cars. The occupants said the car had a problem with its power steering, and police noted power steering fluid pooling on the street. People left with the cars and refused help from police. Police called the highway department to report the spilled automotive fluid, for cleanup.

On Aug. 10, around 11: 30 p.m., a Lockwood Road woman reported an elderly white man wearing shorts and a white was pacing back and forth in front of her house. Patrol responded to the location and observed the man in the driveway. He claimed he met a woman on the Internet who invited him over to the house. Patrol conferred with the homeowner who reiterated that she did not know the man and never invited him over. A check of the man came back with a warrant issued out of NYPD. Dispatch made contact with NYPD who advised they would not be picking up the party on the warrant. Patrol then advised the man that the homeowners do not wish for him to return to their address. Patrol secured a taxi for the man, and he was taken to the train station.

Help
Police closed and secured an open Innes Road front door that was accidentally left open Aug. 8. Police checked the house due to security concerns, and nothing had been disturbed in the house.

On Aug.13, a caller reported that a moving company left her Fairview Drive residence that afternoon, and she was unsure if they locked the residence upon departure. Police checked the house and secured the doors.

Sanitation
On Aug. 7, a Mamaroneck Road woman reported a white pickup truck that appeared to be a sanitation vehicle pulled into her driveway. She found this to be suspicious because it was not a regular day for sanitation pickup. She further stated that the driver approached her back door and asked her daughter to open the door for him. Patrol made contact with a new sanitation worker who confirmed going to the woman’s residence that day. The worker said, since he is new to the job, he wanted to learn the schedule and the locations of garbage areas for each residence. Police notified the woman.

Cars and roadways
Police helped drivers exchange information in White Plains following a reported hit and run car accident that occurred in Scarsdale Aug. 7. The only damage noted was minor damage to one bumper.

Police asked the owner of a legally parked work truck on Myrtledale Road to relocate the truck to a better parking area since a neighbor complained that the location of the truck was impeding her vision when turning from Myrtledale Road onto Mamaroneck Road Aug. 7.

On Aug. 7, police informed the highway department about a loose manhole cover on Cohawney Road.

Patrol moved a fallen branch from Post Road Aug. 7, and they also informed the highway department about a fallen tree that needed to be removed from Park Road.

Two Village vehicles got into an accident at Mamaroneck and Park Road Aug. 8. No injuries were reported.

Patrol secured a construction gate at a Cohawney Road construction site that had accidentally blown open, causing a roadway obstruction, Aug. 9.

On Aug. 10, police stood by a disabled car at Fenimore and Elm roads until a tow arrived to assist the driver.

A driver whose car was suffering from an overheated motor refused help from police and asked to stay with his parked car in the parking lot of the middle school, until the car cooled down and he could continue on is way, Aug. 10.

On Aug. 11, police Patrol placed traffic cones, a barricade and caution tape around a sinkhole on Fox Meadow Road. Highway department personnel were notified.

On Aug. 12, police observed a driver not wearing a seatbelt while driving his car in East Parkway. A traffic stop was initiated, and police issued the driver appropriate summonses.

Police notified the water department about a water main leak at Fox Meadow and Butler roads Aug. 13.

Three car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Pigeon
On Aug. 12, a Nelson Road woman reported a pigeon in her yard with what appeared to be a broken wing and a tag on its leg. Upon arrival, police noted the pigeon, which appeared to be injured but not sick. Police provided trappers’ contact information to the woman. Prior to police leaving the scene, the pigeon flew away.

Animals
On Aug. 12, a caller reported “a large animal, dead in the roadway, interfering with vehicular traffic” on Sprague Road. Patrol arrived and observed a dead squirrel in the roadway. It was also observed that the animal was not causing a traffic condition. Patrol notified the highway department for cleanup.

On Aug. 13, a caller reported standing by an injured animal on Madison Road. Patrol arrived to the location and observed an injured rabbit in the roadway. The rabbit suffered injuries to its hind legs. Patrol took possession of the animal and made arrangements with a rehabilitation center, whose staff advised that they would take in the animal.

A loose dog was found near the intersection of Murray Hill and Mamaroneck roads Aug. 13. Police brought the dog to headquarters. When the dog’s owner responded to pick up the dog, police issued the owner a summons for having a dog at large.

Village code
A Cooper Road resident turned off a speaker after the sound of music caused a neighbor to complain about noise Aug. 8.

On Aug. 11 and 12, illegally posted signs on Post Road were discarded by police.
Police cautioned workers and homeowners, in a few worksite locations throughout the Village, to abide by sanctioned work hours Aug. 12.

On Aug. 13, police advised a Hillview Drive party host to lower the volume of music after a neighbor complained of noise.

Lost and found
A Mamaroneck Road man reported his wife lost her driver’s license somewhere in the Village Aug. 8.

Police returned a brown wallet found on Scarsdale Avenue to its owner Aug. 9.

A Post Road resident reported four lost license plates Aug. 9.

On Aug. 11, a customer left her wallet in a Palmer Avenue store. Police returned it to the customer’s house, using ID information found inside the wallet.

A passerby found a wallet on East Parkway and brought it to headquarters for safekeeping Aug. 12.

Police called the owner of a wallet found in a Popham Road parking lot Aug. 12. The owner responded to headquarters to pick up his wallet.

Firefighters
On Aug. 9, firefighters cleaned up spilled automotive fluids on Vanderblt Road.

On Aug. 10, firefighters were dispatched to a Murray Hill Road house for an odor of electrical burning in a bathroom. After investigating, personnel found an overheated LED device. The device was isolated from the power supply, and the occupants were advised to contact an electrician for replacement.

On Aug. 12, firefighters were dispatched to Springdale Road to evaluate an "open pit with wires." Upon investigation, crews determined the pit to be a telecommunications service box. Firefighters placed a nearby cover on the open pit to secure the utilities and remove the trip hazard.

On Aug. 13, firefighters assisted Hartsdale firefighters with a lightning strike fire in their jurisdiction.

On Aug. 15, a Mamaroneck Road resident reported he discovered that a loan for $7,600 was taken out by an unknown party using his identifying information on November 10, 2022. The account was closed on March 1, 2023.

Dispute
A Chesterfield Road child called police to report his parents were having a disagreement Aug. 18. Police went to the scene and discerned that the parents were involved in a minor verbal dispute.

Welfare check
On Aug. 14, a Secor Road woman asked police to check the welfare of their housekeeper who was not answering her cell phone. The housekeeper was at the woman’s house doing work, and everything was OK.

On Aug. 17, the daughter of a Palmer Avenue woman asked police to check on her after the woman missed a tele-health visit. Police went to the house and saw the woman inside the house though a window. She advised she was locked inside a bathroom. Police entered the house and opened the door. They asked the woman to call her daughter.

Help
A Richelieu Road woman reported that her 79-year-old father went out for a walk three hours ago and did not return Aug. 20. Police found him in good condition in Eastchester and arranged for his daughter to pick him up.

Civil matter
On Aug. 19, an East Parkway worker reported problems with his supervisor. He said the problem started after he refused to use a vehicle his supervisor assigned to him for work. The worker said he did not like the way he was spoken to after his refusal and stated he would like to document the incident. Patrol advised the worker about resources available to help him with the civil incident.

On Aug. 20, a Madison Road resident reported that Village workers damaged his driveway and front concrete steps while performing roadwork.

Cars and roadways
Police saw a parked Kia, with scofflaw status due to unpaid parking tickets in the amount of $980, on East Parkway Aug. 14. The car was towed from the scene and impounded.

Police moved a fallen branch from Secor Road Aug. 14.

On Aug. 15, police taped off numerous flooded roadways in the Village.

On Aug. 16, a Montrose Road resident reported that a man was working on a white commercial van parked in the street in front of his house. He advised that a tire was on his lawn, and he did not want the man to place debris or materials there. Police saw the parked van, which was missing tires. He issued a parking citation to the registered owner of the van.

On Aug. 16, a moped on Post Road was observed driving recklessly. The driver fled from police on his moped.

Patrol notified Verizon of a fallen wire on Heathcote Road Aug. 17.

On Aug. 17, police moved a rock out of the roadway on Church Lane.

A tree fell on Hampton Road Aug. 18. Police asked highway workers to remove it.

Police called a tow for a driver whose car broke down at Mamaroneck and Garden roads Aug. 18.

Police helped a Mamaroneck Road driver with directions after his GPS stopped working Aug. 19.

On Aug. 19, police conducted a traffic stop on Fenimore Road and issued the 35-year-old Bronx driver a citation for an expired inspection sticker.

On Aug. 20, police helped a Meadow Road driver change a tire.

Animals
An injured woodpecker was found on a Brite Avenue lawn Aug. 20. Police contacted a wildlife rehabilitator who picked up the bird.

Village code
A caller reported a solicitor on Stonehouse Road Aug. 16. The solicitor was described to be a white man of medium build, with an Australian accent and a buzz cut. Patrol arrived at the location and observed the solicitor. He advised he worked for a pest control company and services a residence on Stonehouse Road. He said he wanted to inform neighboring residences of the service. Patrol informed him that, as per Village code, he would need a permit to solicit in the Village.

On Aug. 16, a pest control worker, on a scooter, was soliciting on Heathcote Road. Police told him he needed a permit to solicit in the Village.

On Aug. 17, police told Oxford Road and Shawnee Road solicitors that they needed permits to solicit in the Village.

After neighbors complained, police asked Sheldrake Road residents to lower the volume of party music Aug. 19.

After neighbors complained, police asked Shae Road residents to lower the volume of music Aug. 20.

Lost and found
A caller found a girl’s bike, helmet and water bottle on Roosevelt Road Aug. 20. Information on the water bottle identified the owner, and police returned the items.

Firefighters
On Aug. 14, firefighters assisted Larchmont firefighters with a working fire in their jurisdiction.

On Aug. 14, firefighters evacuated Sprague Road residents and workers to evaluate elevated carbon monoxide levels in a house. They ventilated and stood by for Con Edison. Investigation in the basement revealed the use of a gas-powered plate compactor during a repair to the basement slab and plumbing. The owner was advised of the hazards of using such equipment in a dwelling.

On Aug. 16, firefighters investigated an electrical burning odor in a Drake Road basement. Investigation led to the main breaker panel. When the cover was removed, firefighters found multiple charred electrical wires and a sub-panel breaker dislodged. Power to the main panel was shut off, and firefighters verified there was no active burning in the panels. They advised the resident to contact an electrician for service/repair and to keep the main breaker panel in the off position until an electrician could diagnose the problem.

On Aug. 17, workers cooking in a basement commercial kitchen on Berwick Road caused elevated carbon monoxide levels Firefighters stood by for Con Edison and ventilated the basement. Firefighters noted that most burners were in use on the commercial range, and multiple trays had been cooked in the ovens. The exhaust hood was in use prior to firefighters’ response. Firefighters also observed excessive combustible storage in the utility room, and they advised occupants to remove the storage.

On Aug. 17, Catherine Road residents reported an odor of gas in the basement. Firefighters and Con Edison discovered a small gas leak. Con Edison made repairs.

On Aug. 18, firefighters were called to a Sheldrake Road house because a resident reported smoke coming from a washing machine. Firefighters removed the washing machine from the house and ventilated.

raccoonCheck fraud: On Aug. 1, a Dunham Road woman reported her daughter’s name was used on a stolen check. The daughter received a check in the mail from a shoring company in Virginia via UPS. The woman contacted the company to advise them of this this incident, and was informed by personnel that similar fraudulent events have occurred in the past with their accounts. The woman confirmed that her daughter is a teenager and does not work for any companies in Virginia. The woman further advised that her daughter is not owed any money, and would not be cashing the check.

On Aug. 5, a Lenox Place resident reported one of her checks was stolen from outgoing mail after she handed the check to a postal employee in July. The check was altered and cashed for a larger amount, namely over $5,000. This was a case of “check washing,” as per police.

Identity theft
A White Road woman reported she was a victim of fraud, and an unknown person opened two bank accounts in her name, using a fake driver’s license Aug. 2.

On Aug. 5, a resident walked into headquarters to report that she was contacted from by an unknown phone number, alerting her of a fraudulent attempt on her credit card. She advised that the caller alleged to be a representative from her banking institution and had access to personal information. The resident reported the call to her bank and deactivated her compromised account. The resident also advised that all incoming calls to her cell phone had been routed to an unknown person, most likely the scammer. The resident contacted her cell phone carrier and advised she would be changing her cell phone number.

On Aug. 6, a Shawnee Road woman resident reported a fraudulent T-Mobile account was opened in his name. The account accumulated approximately $3,000 in outstanding charges.

Stolen cash
An Aspen Road woman reported that cash totaling approximately $205 was stolen from her wallet at a Palmer Avenue business Aug. 4. She reported it the following day.

Attempted break-in
Around 3:30 a.m., Aug. 3, a Drake Road resident reported his doorbell camera captured surveillance of two individuals in dark clothing making their way down his driveway and peering peered into his vehicle and home via the side door. Moments after, the individual exited the property off camera towards Madison Rd. An extended canvass was conducted yielding negative results. Around one hour after the incident, New Rochelle police notified SPD of a similar incident where three individuals were observed in a black Mercedes Benz C300 with a temporary tag registration in their jurisdiction.

Help
A package was in plain view on a Brittany Road porch Aug. 2. As a courtesy and for safety precautions, police moved it out of plain sight from the street.

Parking
On Aug. 1, a Heathcote Road man reported a McDonald Place resident confronted him for legally parking on the street in front of the resident’s house. The resident specifically asked the man to park elsewhere. A brief verbal dispute took place and the man said the resident continued talking to him while he was walking back to his house. Police responded to scene and knocked on the resident’s doors several times. There was no answer. Police advised the man to contact police again at any time if the condition persists or worsens.

Private property
On Aug. 5, a caller stated she was the president of the Crane Berkeley Association which is responsible for the Crane Berkeley Pond and Park. She informed police the pond and park are private property and are only for use of the residents. The caller said there was a man sitting by the pond. She alleged she knew he was not a resident and requested assistance to ask the man to leave. She said there were no posted “private property” signs but she was working on having them posted. The man was described as a black man without a shirt. Police arrived on scene and observed the described man doing yoga in the park. Patrol confirmed there were no “private property” signs posted. Police advised the man that the park was private property and designated for association members only. The man stated he was a resident. Patrol called the association president and advised that signs need to be put in place to show that the park is private property.

Cars and roadways
On July 31, a Ferncliff Road woman reported finding pry marks around her car’s door handle, apparently made by someone who attempted to break into the car while it was parked overnight a few prior to the woman making the report. Nothing was missing from the car.

A fallen wire was tied around a rain gutter at a Brewster Road house Aug. 2. The resident said he was not experiencing a loss of service. Police advised him to contact the utility provider.
On Aug. 2, police issued a 22-year-old Florida driver summonses for unlicensed driving and speeding on Post Road.

On Aug. 3, police noticed a motorcycle heading north in the left lane on Post Road at the intersection of Heathcote Road. Police observed the motorcycle pass multiple vehicles on the left, crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic. Once behind the motorcycle, police noticed there were no plates affixed to the motorcycle and the operator was not wearing a helmet. Due to this, a traffic stop was conducted on Post Road. Multiple summonses were issued to the 37-year-old Mount Vernon operator, and the bike was towed.

Police issued summonses for an illegally parked car on School Lane that was discovered to be uninspected Aug. 3.

Police helped a U-Haul driveway with non-parkway directions to White Plains after the driver realized she could not travel onto the Hutchinson River Parkway, near the Weaver Street entrance, due to oversized vehicle height, Aug. 3.

On Aug. 5, around 2 a.m., police noticed an unoccupied, parked car with its headlights on and a NJ license plate in a Haverford Road driveway. Police called for additional units prior to approaching the vehicle. Police contacted the homeowner, who said the car was a rental. Shortly thereafter, the homeowner came outside and turned the lights off.

Police helped a pedestrian cross Weaver Street on her way to a pizzeria Aug. 6.

Animals
A black and white Bernie-doodle dog named Shlomo ran out of a Montrose Road house while a dog sitter was watching the dog Aug. 1. The sitter asked for help in locating the dog, which was last seen near Greenacres Avenue. Police canvassed the area but did not find the dog.

A Secor Road woman reported a “foot-long mole hung itself in her garage,” and she wanted help removing it Aug. 2. Patrol arrived on scene and observed a groundhog stuck in the hinged roller of the garage door track at the listed location. Patrol attempted to remove the groundhog but was unsuccessful. Patrol informed to homeowner to contact someone who works on garage doors in order for the groundhog to be removed without causing any damage to the door. The garage door was fully functional and was not damaged when patrol left the scene.

A man walking near Farley and Brewster Road reported a woman told him she would release her dog “if he got too close” Aug. 3. He reported the dog appeared to be aggressive. The woman was described as a white female with gray hair, walking a large black dog.
Someone placed caution tape around a possible beehive at a Palmer Avenue school playground Aug. 6. Police notified school staff. They were already aware of the situation.

On Aug. 6, a Brookfield Lane caller asked for help with a possibly sick raccoon in the backyard. Police arrived on scene and noticed a dead raccoon in the caller’s pool. The caller advised she heard a splash and found the animal struggling in the pool shortly before police arrived. Patrol advised that if the animal was out during the day and struggling in the water, the animal was likely sick. Police advised the caller to be careful and disinfect the pool area. Patrol assisted in bagging and discarding the raccoon’s remains.

Village code
Police asked people talking loudly outside a Cooper Road house to lower the volume of their conversation after midnight Aug. 1. The people apologized and went inside.

A caller complained about music at a construction site on Kensington Road Aug. 1.

The music was not deemed to be too loud, as per a decibel meter. Police nevertheless advised workers of the complaint, and they lowered the volume of their music.

Police asked Boulder Brook residents to lower the volume of party music Aug. 2 after neighbors complained.

Police asked Brambach Road residents to lower the volume of conversation Aug. 5 after neighbors complained.

Lost and found
A man reported placing his attaché case in the wrong parked Subaru, which he stated was similar to his vehicle, July 31. It occurred on Spencer Place. Consequently, he lost the attaché case.

A caller found a wallet in a Palmer Avenue parking lot Aug. 2. Police retrieved the wallet and delivered it to its owner, based on information found on a driver’s license inside the wallet.

A blue backpack found on the pathway of the Bronx River Parkway, near the Scarsdale train station, was opened by the person who found it Aug. 3. It was reported to police that the backpack contained substances that “looked like drugs.” Police turned the backpack over to Westchester County police, as it was found in WCPD’s jurisdiction.

Firefighters
Firefighters and police helped Con Edison check Lockwood Road houses for possible gas leaks due to a nearby gas alarm Aug. 1. No gas readings were detected.
