Author Talk at Scarsdale Library: And No One Knew with Jennifer Manocherian

Wednesday, July 01, 2026 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This event does not repeat

and no one knewJoin local author Jennifer Manocherian in conversation with Jimin Han for a discussion of her new mystery novel featuring the smart, endearing, occasionally crabby older protagonist Gertrude Sidenstricker on Wednesday July 1 at 7 pm at Scarsdale Library.

Gertrude Sidenstricker is a loner whose quiet, carefully controlled life is disrupted by the discovery of a long-buried secret from her past. Drawn into an unexpected journey, she is forced to step far outside her comfort zone and confront truths that challenge her sense of identity and belonging. As she navigates unfamiliar places and encounters new people, Gertrude must decide how much of her world she is willing to upend in pursuit of answers—and whether the truth will set her free or change her forever.

Copies of And No One Knew will be available for sale courtesy of Bronx River Books and for signing by the author during this event.

Light refreshments will be served.

About the author

Jennifer Manocherian has had almost more careers than a cat has lives. She has worked in public relations, as a family therapist, divorce mediator, theater producer, musical book writer, screenwriter and now novelist. A longtime Scarsdale resident, she is married with five children, fifteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. And No One Knew is her second novel.

July 1, 7 pm.

Arthur Manor July 4th Parade and Ceremony

Saturday, July 04, 2026 9:15 am - 10:15 am
This event does not repeat

The Arthur Manor Neighborhood Association will hold its 98th Annual July 4th parade and ceremony on Saturday, July 4th.

The lineup for the parade will begin at 9:15 am at the corner of Bell and Sprague Roads and the parade will start promptly at 9:45 am. The parade will then march down Sprague Road, turn left at Lyons Road, and then proceed to Davis Park. Children interested in participating in the parade can dress in patriotic costume or decorate their bicycles, tricycles, wagons or strollers with patriotic decorations. Pets are also encouraged to dress in patriotic costumes.

For those families that plan to build floats for the July 4th parade, this year the judges will award extra points to those floats that include U.S. patriotic themes and are constructed using “homemade” rather than prefabricated materials. For example, more points will be awarded for hand painted designs on the floats than designs that are commercially available. The celebration continues at Davis Park with a ceremony, comments from Village officials, and awards for parade participants in all of the traditional parade categories.

Following the ceremony, the Association will hold the annual field games – including the egg toss at the end! Hot dogs, bottled water and other food and refreshments will be available for purchase. The Association encourages everyone to come out this year and celebrate the 4th of July by showing your patriotic colors! Please contact Matt Martin at matthew.martin@pattoneakins.com or (917) 697-2747 if you would like to help out with this year’s festivities.
