Join Zachys Friday, January 18th from 4 to 7pm to taste what The Wall Street Journal dubbed “one of the boldest, most interesting Gins out there.” Greenhook Ginsmiths American Dry Gin is made from organically grown New York State Wheat, Tuscan Juniper, Coriander, Chamomile, Elderflower, Citrus, Thai Blue Ginger, Ceylon Cinnamon, Orris Root and Elderberry. Greenhook’s unique 300-liter Copper Pot Still was custom engineered to work under a vacuum, which allows the them to distill at lower temperatures. This process preserves the delicate aromas and makes for a lively yet elegant gin. This isn’t your typical pine tree gin, it is bright and complex and makes the perfect gin and tonic. If you don’t believe us, come on down.

SHS Drama Club Presents Two One Act Plays (Fri. 18 Jan, 2019 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm)

The Scarsdale High School Drama Club will be putting on two one-act plays! The drama, Property Rites, is directed by Matthew Kutzin, and the comedy, Show and Spell, is directed by Jamie Robelen.

Property Rites: Kyle Macmanus has invested millions in a high-tech work of art -- fifteen human-figure sculptures programmed to perform thousands of movements, monologues, dialogues, and more. But just when Kyle is about to sell the sculpture, it malfunctions: the figures are alive. As each one struggles to achieve autonomy, they begin a fatal race against their desperate owner's destructive plan.

Show and Spell: Five middle schoolers take on overzealous parents, crazy coaches, and nostalgic relatives as they prepare for the annual spelling bee in this insightful comedy for young actors. With contestants that range from an unflappable cheerleader who cheers all her words to the anxiety-prone daughter of a movie star, spelling the words correctly may be the least of these kids' worries. This play wonderfully illustrates the pressure that kids feel to compete, and the family support that makes it all bearable.

Performances will be in the Scarsdale High School auditorium on Friday, January 18th and Saturday, January 19th at 7:30pm.
Tickets are available here or at the door.

Westchester Reform Temple Commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. on Shabbat Shirah (Fri. 18 Jan, 2019 7:45 pm - 8:45 pm)

Westchester Reform Temple Commemorates Martin Luther King, Jr. on Shabbat Shirah with  So Is Life, Chabibeat and the Amazing Afternoons Chorus on Friday night January 18 at 7:45 pm.

Celebrate Shabbat Shirah, the Sabbath of Singing, with a triple header of musical talents! Westchester Reform Temple welcomes accomplished artists and spiritual leaders, the members of So Is Life, a four part folk/rock group featuring Cantors Rosalie Boxt and Ellen Dreskin along with singer-songwriters Josh Nelson and Dan Nichols. These talented friends, among the most sought after Jewish musicians of our time, will infuse our worship with vibrant song. Come enjoy rich textured harmony and acoustic beauty as part of Westchester Reform Temple’s Shabbat service.

This year, the observance of Shabbat Shirah, when we recall the Israelites’ crossing of the Red Sea, coincides with the weekend in which Americans honor the memory of Martin Luther King. Westchester Reform Temple welcomes all to worship with us and our special musical guests as we pay tribute to the legacy of freedom.

But that’s not all… The WRT youth choir, Chabibeat, will join in song with the Mount Vernon’s Edward Williams Elementary School Amazing Afternoons Chorus to lend beautiful young voices to the service as well. Together, the youth choirs remind us that through music, the next generation takes hold of our musical legacy.

Westchester Reform Temple is located at 255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale, New York. For more information, please contact Cantor Amanda Kleinman, Westchester Reform Temple at 914-723-7727 or go to http://wrtemple.org/. For additional information about So Is Life see https://www.bdnandn.com/.
