Identity theft
On Jan. 8, a Heathcote Road man reported that someone posted some of the man’s personal photos, extracted from a legitimate social media account, to a fraudulent account. Police advised him to notify account officials about the fraudulent account.

An Overlook Road resident reported a case of identity theft involving the illegal transfer of funds out of his bank account Jan. 10.

On Jan. 14, a Deerfield Lane man reported receiving a fraudulent bank letter and fraudulent credit card correspondence, addressed to an unknown person, at his address.

Criminal mischief
On Jan. 8, a caller reported that a man kicked her car on Popham Road and Depot Place while he was crossing the street against the crossing signal.

On Jan. 12, a driver reported that an unknown woman keyed his parked 2021 Mercedes-Benz on Overhill Road.

Harassment
On Jan. 8, an Edgewood woman reported that a former acquaintance was continuing to contact her against her wishes. Police advised her to notify him that she did not wish to be contacted.

An Edgewood wife reported her husband was harassing her Jan. 9. Police mediated the situation, and both parties agreed to stay away from each other for the evening.

On Jan. 11, a Village man reported receiving threatening text messages from a known party.

Fight
Two people were fighting on Garth Road Jan. 12. Police broke up the fight and learned that one of the participants was wanted by Village of Mamaroneck police. Police held the person until Village of Mamaroneck police picked him up.

Suspicious
On Jan. 9, an Evon Court resident reported that someone attempted to open his front door by turning the knob. Police advised him to install a security camera.

Someone reportedly rang an Autenreith Road doorbell and placed a traffic cone on the homeowner’s porch Jan. 12.

Help
A homeless person who had been released from Westchester Medical Center earlier that day requested help getting to a homeless shelter Jan. 11. Police provided a courtesy ride to a White Plains shelter.

Pedestrians Hit
An 81 year-old male pedestrian from Scarsdale was struck by a car driven by 83 year-old woman from Thornwood in the crosswalk at Fenimore Road and Walworth Avenue Jan. 10 at 9:44 am. He was crossing the street in the crosswalk with the crossing light on at the time. The driver said she had a green light and was not sure if the crosswalk light was on. He was complaining of pelvis and hip pain. Firefighters stabilized the patient in place, assessed the patient, and waited for Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps to arrive. Paramedics transported him to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation.

On Jan. 9, a woman reported that her 48 year-old husband had been struck by a car at Popham and Chase roads. The car was reportedly turning left when it ran over the pedestrian’s foot and left the scene.

On Jan. 9, police notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Weaver Street.
Patrol reminded a car owner of overnight parking restrictions on Potter Road in order to avoid a parking citation Jan. 9.
On Jan. 9, multiple summonses were issued to a 45-year-old Scarsdale driver after police noted that her car had registration and insurance violations.
A Grand Park Avenue man reported that his housekeeper’s car had been struck badly, and the driver of the offending car left the scene Jan. 9.
The department of public works cleared a fallen tree from Palmer Avenue Jan. 9.
A tree fell on wires on Cornell Street Jan. 9. Police taped off the area and stood by for Con Edison and Verizon.

On Jan. 10, a Brewster Road resident requested assistance with a standby generator because they were unable to turn the unit off after starting it up. Firefighters shut the engine off and isolated the gas supply. The resident scheduled a service call for the unit the following day.


Firefighters assisted Fairview Fire Department with a structure fire in its jurisdiction Jan. 10.


On Jan. 11, firefighters were dispatched to a Rectory Lane house for a reported oven fire. Upon investigation, crews determined the fire was contained to the oven, without extension. It was determined that oil residue in the enclosed oven compartment had fueled the fire. The fire self-extinguished as the oil residue was consumed. Firefighters ventilated the space. The resident said an appliance technician was scheduled to evaluate the fan for the oven the next day.

doorbellcameraArrest: On Jan. 4, following a traffic stop on Boulevard, police arrested Malik Nasario, 27, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, on charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving without a license, an uninspected motor vehicle and an equipment violation. Nasario was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket for Scarsdale Village Justice Court on Jan. 24.

Identity theft
On Jan. 5, a Brite Avenue resident reported someone opened a fraudulent account with AT&T and set up six phone lines, accumulating charges of $8,266.67.

Harassment
A Clarence Road woman reported she was receiving unwanted messages from someone Jan. 1. Police advised her to inform the person to that she, as well as her family members, no longer wished to be contacted.

On Jan. 4, a Bradford Road man reported receiving threatening letters from a known individual.

On Jan. 4, a Brite Avenue man advised he no longer wished to be contacted by an ex-girlfriend. Police spoke with the parties and advised them to no longer contact each other.

Suspicious
A man came to a Fairview Court house and told the homeowner, via a doorbell camera, that he was there to do an exterior inspection Jan. 2. The resident advised that no work was scheduled for the day. The man then got into a white pickup truck and left.

An Archer Lane resident found a paper copy of a credit card in front of her house and was concerned Jan. 3. Using name information, police linked the copy to the owner of the original credit card, who lived on Stratton Road, and returned the copy to that owner’s house.

A caller reported a man walking on East Parkway with a garbage bag on his head Jan. 4. Police canvassed the area but could not find the man.

On Jan. 4, a Seneca Road resident advised seeing a white pickup in his driveway while he was away. He observed the truck leave the scene.

The adult child of an elderly Penn Road woman reported someone had been repeatedly ringing the woman’s doorbell earlier that day, on Jan. 5.
An East Parkway apartment resident advised he heard a noise near his front door and observed the door to be partially open Jan. 6. The door had not been locked, he said. Police advised him to always lock his doors.

The manager of Starbucks reported a person banned from the store due to unruly behavior trespassed on the property Jan. 6.

On Jan. 1, police advised Verizon of a fallen wire on Dell Road.

Police helped a Post Road driver start a stalled car Jan. 3.

While conducting traffic enforcement on Depot Place and Popham Road, patrol observed a driver make an illegal U-turn. A traffic stop was initiated on Popham Road. A DMV check showed that the driver's license and the registration for the vehicle were suspended. The license was suspended two times, and the registration was suspended for parking violations. The vehicle had no insurance code on file, and it had an expired inspection. Summonses were issued; the license plates were removed; and the car was towed to the impound lot.
A motor scooter without license plates was reportedly parked in a Scarsdale Avenue parking lot Jan. 4. It was towed to the impound lot for safekeeping.
On Jan. 5, using a phone number left on a post-accident note left on a windshield, police were able to connect the owner of a damaged car with the driver of the car that struck it on Heathcote Road.
Police assisted several cars maneuver on snow-covered and icy roadways during the storm on Jan. 6.
Police called a tow for a car that hit the curb on Mamaroneck Road and sustained two flat tires Jan. 6.

Civil matters
On Jan. 4, a man reported a previous car /electric bicycle accident that occurred at Mamaroneck and Post roads Jan. Dec. 27. At the time, both drivers exchanged information and privately agreed to handle the matter. The man said he sent an estimate to repair damages to the father of the other driver. The father then allegedly refused to pay and left threatening voicemails. Police contacted the father and determined no threatening voicemails had been sent. The father said he would speak with the man about the matter again. Police advised the parties to contact their insurance companies or pursue the matter in civil court if they could not reach an agreement.

On Jan. 4, a Herkimer Road resident reported that his neighbor’s landscaper cut down multiple trees on the resident’s property. It occurred while the resident was not home on Jan. 28.

Lost and found
A person walked into headquarters on Jan. 2 and reported losing a parking permit.

Firefighters
On Jan. 1, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak on Murray Hill Road.

On Jan. 1, firefighters shut down a Ferncliff Road stove with a gas leak and stood by for Con Edison.

On Jan. 2, firefighters assisted at a car accident on Grand Park and Griffen avenues. Upon arrival firefighters found an accident between a flatbed tow truck and a sedan, with the sedan’s operator unable to exit the vehicle. Firefighters were able to pry the driver’s door open to allow the operator to exit the vehicle. Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps attended to the patient while firefighters stabilized the incident. There was minor damage to the tow truck, and the sedan was removed by tow. SVAC transported one patient to White Plains Hospital Center.

A reported “chemical odor” on the third floor of a Post Road building was traced to perishable food in a lunch box Jan. 4.

The elevator shaft was smoking at the Alternative School on Post Road Jan. 5. Firefighters helped custodians shut down the elevator and ventilate the space. The fan motor was defective and found to be arcing.

Firefighters helped a Foxhall Place resident change smoke detector batteries Jan. 5.

Firefighters helped an Edgewood resident with mobility issued get from his house to a car Jan. 5.

On Jan. 5, firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.

GrafsteinOn Dec. 19, a Birchall Drive resident reported coming home and finding her back door’s glass to be smashed. Investigation revealed that approximately $100,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen. Police are following up.

Parent
A school official on Boulevard advised police that a disorderly parent driving a white Lexus SUV was no longer welcome on school property Dec. 18.

Concerns
On Dec. 18, a Brite Avenue woman reported finding a small piece of glass in the microwave on Dec. 15. The woman was concerned because she thought the incident might be related to a person she met online.

Scooter
Police asked the owner of a motorized scooter to move it from its close proximity to the high school track Dec. 23.

Help
A contractor reported his Wynmor Road client was not returning the contractor’s equipment Dec. 20. Police assisted in facilitating a return of the equipment and advised the parties to stay away from each other.

A sealed “return to Pitney Bows” package was found on a bush on Brewster Road Dec. 21. It looked like it had accidentally been left there. Police picked it up and brought it to the post office.

On Dec. 21, and elderly Saxon Woods Road caller advised of a tooth ache and requested a root canal. The caller was advised that the only services dispatch could offer was for an ambulance to respond and take her to the emergency room. The caller stated that she did not require ambulance services at this time and ended the call. Dispatch made notification to staff at the Ambassador front desk who were already aware of the caller's complaint and had administered a pain reliever.

Police performed a welfare check of a Walworth Avenue resident after a nurse asked them on Dec. 22.

Police called a taxi for an elderly man on Cooper Road who needed to get to a local temple for services Dec. 22.

Civil matter
A Mamaroneck Road man reported a dispute with a roofer Dec. 22. The man advised he had a verbal altercation via phone, with an employee from a roofing company. The man advised that he was quoted and invoiced for a roofing job that was estimated to take three days of labor. The roofing company completed one day of work and was requesting full payment. The man advised that when he questioned the invoice, the employee became irate and stated, "I will come back to the house and rip the roof off." The man wished to have the incident documented.

Teen hit by car
A mother reported her 15-year-old son was riding a bicycle and was struck by a car at Church Lane and Crane Road. The boy had been on his way to school when the accident occurred.

Cars and roadways
On Dec. 18, a highway department structure on Freightway Road toppled to the ground.
Sewage was backing up into a Webster Road house Dec. 18. Police notified the highway department.
A car ran out of gas on Post Road Dec. 18, Police stood by until additional gas was brought to the scene.
On Dec. 19, police noticed a 2019 Audi with scofflaw status, resulting from $540 in unpaid parking tickets, parked on East Parkway. The car was towed to the police impound lot.
A fallen branch caused a parked car’s window to be smashed on Clarence Road. It was discovered Dec. 19.
A car ran out of gas on Bypass Dec. 20. A passerby offered to pick up a can of gasoline. Police helped fill the car ‘s tank with the fuel.
A parked car was left running in Freightway Garage Dec. 21. Police turned off the ignition and attempted to contact the owner.
A box truck struck an overpass bridge on the Hutchinson Rive4r Parkway, exited and parked on Weaver Street Dec. 21. Police notified Westchester County police.
Another truck struck an overpass bridge on the Hutchinson River Parkway, exited and parked on Meadow Road Dec. 22. Police notified Westchester County police.
A driver accidentally locked his key inside his car with the car running on Freightway Road Dec. 22. Police stood by while a tow truck driver worked to get the car open.

Police asked a Deerfield Road resident to lower the volume of loud music after neighbors complained Dec. 23.

Police issued a warning to the owner of dogs that were running on a Brewster Road school field Dec. 24.

ScarsdadleCircular LogoSlashed tires: On Dec. 30, a Dunham Road resident reported tires on three of his vehicles were slashed overnight. The damages occurred on the following cars – a 2022 Subaru worth $20,000, a 2016 Porsche worth $50,000, and a 2015 Jeep worth $15,000.

Identity theft
On Dec. 26, a Birchall Drive woman reported that someone used her information to fraudulently open an AT&T Direct TV account. It had an unpaid balance.

Harassment
A Mount Vernon resident who was house sitting on Kingston Road reported that her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend posted the resident’s phone number online and she was now receiving calls and social media messages from unknown numbers, which she found harassing. Police advised her to report the matter to Mount Vernon police.

On Dec. 30, a driver on Saxon Woods Road reported three females threw food at his car and shouted racial slurs to him while he was driving on Mamaroneck Road. He said his car was not damaged. When he eventually turned his car around to confront the females, they were on Saxon Woods Road. Words were allegedly exchanged, and the females told the man to "Go back where he came from." The man did not observe where the females went after that verbal exchange.

Doorbells
Residents of Nelson Road and Morris Lane reported that unknown persons rang their doorbells overnight Dec. 26 into Dec. 27.

On Dec. 27, a man wearing pajamas and a dark rain jacket rang a Park Road doorbell and allegedly looked into the house windows. Police found the man on the street. He said he accidentally rang the wrong doorbell.

Trash
A Cohawney Road resident reported someone drove up to his house and threw a black garbage bag on is property Dec. 29. Police examined the bag, found it to contain trash and disposed of the trash.

Alcohol
On Dec. 31, a caller reported that he thought a Scarsdale Avenue business might be selling alcohol to underage buyers. Police went to the business and spoke with the manager. He advised that when customers purchase alcohol the cashier must scan their IDs. When the ID is scanned, the store's computer will flag any ID that causes an error or appears to be fraudulent. The manager indicated that no customer IDs created such a reaction that day. Additionally the manager advised that his employees have been made aware of looking for any people who appear to be under the legal drinking age and to prohibit any sale of alcohol to those people.

Help
Police assisted at a felony car stop off Weaver Street Dec. 26. An occupant of the car was wanted for a homicide out of New York City. Police assisted multiple officers from New Rochelle, Westchester County and New York State police departments until a lieutenant from Westchester County police released assisting officers.

A 39-year-old man was found at the Scarsdale train station and seemed confused about which train to take home Dec. 26. A passerby alerted police and stayed with the man until police arrived. Police called the man’s sister. She said he had been with a group in NYC and separated from the group and boarded a Metro-North train. The sister arrived at headquarters and picked up the man. Police advised her on tracking options as a precaution.

On Dec. 31, a woman asked police if she could wait inside the headquarters building for her sister to pick her up. She said she did not have money for a bus home. Police called the sister, who arrived for the pickup.

Civil matter
On Dec. 30, a Brewster Road woman reported her neighbors were driving their car over her part of the driveway. The involved neighbor said he would try his best to not drive over the allotted feet of driveway allocated for his use. This has been an ongoing civil issue between both parties.

Cars and roadways
On Dec. 27, police reported fallen wires on Fox Meadow Road to Verizon.

A man sitting on an Oxford Road curb, allegedly “rocking back and forth,” told police he was waiting for a ride home Dec. 28.

Lost and found
A Rodney Road resident reported losing a license plate Dec. 27.

Fire department
On Dec. 26 and Dec. 30, firefighters assisted Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps lift a person who needed help in Edgewood.

On Dec. 27, firefighters helped a Garden Road housekeeper who accidentally got locked outside the house to get back inside the house.

Firefighters entered a locked Garden Road house to shut off a stove burner Dec. 27.
On Dec. 27, firefighters were called to a Ridgedale Road house for a reported smoke odor. They traced the odor to a burnt doorbell transformer in the basement, near the stairwell. The unit was disconnected and de-energized. Firefighters advised the resident of findings and correction. No ventilation was needed.

On Dec. 29, firefighters were dispatched to a Lyons Road house for a reported “fire inside the walls.” Crews were met by a tenant at the front door. She stated that she had noticed flickering lights and called an electrician. There was no odor, smoke, or fire. Firefighters learned that an electrician had responded, evaluated the main electrical panel, found charred panel feeds, and notified the tenant that the main feed wiring would have to be replaced. When the tenant notified the homeowners of the problem, the homeowners opted to call a different electrician. The original electrician notified emergency services of the hazard, of a possible fire. Upon investigation, crews noted that the arced/charred wiring was located before the main shutoff. Con Edison was notified for response to remove power upstream of the damaged wiring, meaning at or before the electrical meter. Con Edison responded, evaluated the panel, and removed the meter. The new electrician responded and discussed repair with a Con Edison technician. The electrician stated that the repair would be made that day.

On Dec. 29, several mischievous activations of a fire alarm pull box were noted at the Christie Place garage. The fire inspector is investigating.

A defective overhead light ballast was causing a smoky haze in a Johnson Road house Dec. 30. Firefighters disconnected the unit.

On Dec. 30, firefighters disconnected an overheated microwave in a Cushman Road house.

On Dec. 31, firefighters helped a Claremont Road pet sitter, who accidentally got locked outside the house, get back inside the house to take care of animals inside.

scratchoffAn East Parkway grocery store owner reported that one of his employees has been stealing lottery tickets from his store, in excess of over $6,000, on Dec. 12. As a result of investigatory evidence, police arrested the employee – David Shqutaj, 29, of the Bronx – on charges of grand larceny and altering/erasing/deleting/destroying business entries. Shqutaj was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket for Dec. 14. Police are following up with investigation.

Stolen package
On Dec. 15, a Stratton Road resident reported a stolen package delivered from Amazon. It contained a blender valued at approximately $33.Doorbell camera footage showed a blue sedan pulling up in front of the house and a man in a blue hoodie stealing the package from the resident’s porch.

Domestic matters
On Dec. 11, a Quaker Ridge mother and teenage son were having a dispute over pick-up and drop-off arrangements. Police mediated the dispute and reminded the boy to be mindful of respecting parents and to be aware of the jobs that parents have to do on a daily basis.

Civil matters
Neighbors on Obry Drive were arguing over a fence Dec. 15.

Drake Road neighbors were arguing over trees on their property line Dec. 15.

Help
A man was loitering in a private parking lot on Scarsdale Avenue Dec. 12. Police advised him to leave.

Police provided telephone assistance to connect local New Jersey authorities with a possibly suicidal man in New Jersey Dec. 12.

A Brite Avenue woman reported feeling threatened by comments in an online group chat and by noticing allegedly suspicious vehicles parked outside her house Dec. 15. She was unable top provide evidence of the messages. Police advised her to leave the group chats.

On Dec. 11, police removed fallen branches from Post Road.

A small bridge over a Lorraine Place bridge collapsed on private property Dec. 13.


A driver ran out of gas on Heathcote Road Dec. 13. Police helped the driver refuel.


Police issued a summons to a driver found to be driving with a suspended license on Post Road Jan. 14.


A car accident involving a school bus on Weaver Street occurred Dec. 15. No injuries were reported.


An unsecured box of nails fell from a utility truck and struck a Mercedes-Benz on Palmer Avenue Dec. 16.


On Dec. 17, a caller reported a small electronic device blinking "bright light" on the side of the road near Drake and Ferncliff roads., worrying that this device was suspicious and may be part of "something bigger." Police canvassed the area and did not find any such devices.


Fallen trees, broken branches, blown down wires, and flooded roadways affected travel in the Village during the overnight period of Dec. 17 into 18. One fallen tree on Weaver Street smashed two parked cars.


Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Dogs
On Dec. 12, a Wheelock Road woman reported her dog while on its leash by another unleashed dog, allegedly named “Leo.” The woman reported the bite to “Leo’s” owner. Police intervened in a dispute between the parties and advised them of options to settle in civil court.

A lost dog was reunited with its owner on Carthage Road Dec. 14.

Village code
On Dec. 11, police advised solicitors that they needed a permit to solicit in the Village.

Lost and found
A Johnson Road man reported losing his car’s license plate Dec. 15.

A set of keys was found in the Village and given to police for safekeeping Dec. 16.

Firefighters
On Dec.13, firefighters shut power to an electrical breaker following a water leak in a Rectory Lane house. Firefighters found a water line supplying an under-sink filtration system was broken and leaking water. They were able to control the leak at the source. Water had also traveled from the kitchen to the basement below and infiltrated an electrical subpanel that supplied power to most of the basement circuits, including the boiler. Firefighters shut power to the subpanel and advised the resident not to restore power to the subpanel and to contact a licensed electrician to assess the condition of the electrical system. The resident was informed that the heating system was turned off and should remain off until an electrician was consulted.

On Dec. 14, firefighters responded to an inside odor of gas investigation in a River Road house. The oven was emitting CO when in use. Firefighters advised the resident to have the oven serviced prior to using it.

On Dec. 14, firefighters responded to an odor of burning in a three-story, mixed-use, residential over commercial structure on Garth Road. Firefighters diagnosed the problem to be a malfunction of the heating unit. Firefighters shut down power to the heating unit and evacuated the structure. They gained access to residential apartments on the second floor and to the commercial businesses located on the first floor. They ventilated the entire structure until CO levels were safe. Con Edison Gas was dispatched to the scene. Residents were able to reoccupy the structure, and building maintenance was contacted and advised of the building issue.
