NailThefts at Chase Bank: Greenburgh Police are asking for information about two incidents that occurred outside Chase Banks, one on December 14 and one on November 7, 2022.

According to the report, around 11:45 am on Wednesday December 14 a large amount of cash was stolen from a customer in the Chase Bank Parking lot at 353 North Central Avenue.

A female customer exited the bank and got into her car. She was approached by an “unknown Hispanic woman” who motioned for the woman to roll down her car window. The Hispanic woman told the victim that there were several nails underneath her rear tires. The victim got out of the car and collected several nails that had been placed under her tires.

When she got back into the car and driving out of the parking lot, she realized that an envelope containing a large amount of case had been stolen.

Police report that a “similar distraction type larceny” occurred at another Chase Bank in Greenburgh on November 7, 2022. They are asking anyone with any information regarding these incidents to contact the Greenburgh Police Detective Division at 914-989-1725.

Stolen Cars
At 1:50 am on December 7, a Lebanon Road man was awoken by a loud noise. He looked outside and saw that his 2020 BMW X5, valued at $45,000, was being driven away. It had been parked in front of Tesla in the driveway. The thief struck the Tesla and drove over the front lawn to escape with the car.

The Avis rental car agency on Scarsdale Avenue reported that two rental cars had not been returned in over a month. One car had not been rented out of Scarsdale’s jurisdiction, and the issue was thus referred to another agency.

Car break-ins
A Cushman Road woman reported that someone attempted to enter one of her parked vehicles in her driveway at 1:20 a.m., Dec. 7., but the car was locked. The suspect allegedly left the scene in a black BMW.

Criminal mischief
On Dec. 8, an Elm Road driver reported his 2011 Mazda’s rear bumper had been vandalized on Scarsdale Avenue.

Death
A 79 year-old woman who lived on Dell Road was found unresponsive at 6 pm on December 5, 2022. She was pronounced dead by SVAC and the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted.

DWI
On Dec. 11, policed arrested Michael Magagnin, 33, of Yonkers, on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), refusal to take a breath test, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding in zone. Police conducted a traffic stop of Magagnin’s car after it was observed speeding on Post Road. At that time, officers noticed signs of intoxication and arrested Magagnin. He was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket of Scarsdale Village Justice Court.

Scam and fraud
On Dec. 5, a Berkeley Road woman reported that someone claiming to be a NYPD detective called her and asked questions. The woman confirmed her address before suspecting it was a scam.

On Dec. 8, a Birchall Drive caller reported she was a victim of fraud after her bank informed her that a fake check, for over $9,778.17, had been cashed against her account. Forgery and Grand Larceny

Same address
On Dec. 10, a Greenacres Avenue man reported receiving a letter from the DMV in regard to a person with a suspended license claiming to have the same address as the Greenacres Avenue man. The man needed police report to file a report with the DMV.

Domestic matters
On Dec. 6, an Edgewood Road woman reported her husband was screaming at her, Police arrived and found the husband and wife in separate rooms. They confirmed that they had had a verbal disagreement over personal issues. They agreed to stay away from each other.

A person at a Clarence Road address called 911 and later called back to say everything was fine Dec. 7. Police went to the house and encountered a boyfriend who reported having a verbal argument with his girlfriend. The boyfriend said he feigned to call 911 during the argument, to get his girlfriend to stop throwing his clothes. He said she then agreed to leave to stay with a family member while he planned to pack his clothes. She told police she was not returning until he left.

Wrong address
A dumpster was incorrectly delivered to the wrong Wynmor Road address Dec. 5. The contractor made arrangements to have it picked up and redelivered to the correct address.

Welfare check
A woman called police to say she picked up an elderly man who was hitchhiking and gave him a ride to a Catherine Road address Dec. 7. Police checked on the man by going to his house. It appeared that everything was in order although the man did not open the door.

Help
A Ridgecrest West woman asked police to help her move a Christmas tree from blocking the entrance to a lower level exit door Dec. 8.

Civil matters
A Birchall Drive resident reported movers damaged his house while moving furniture Dec. 10. He asked police to document the incident. z

Police stood by while the manager of a Christie Place establishment worked out an agreement with a customer who was refusing to pay a bill for a party that had been contractually agreed upon Dec. 10.

Cars and roadways
On Dec. 5, police assisted a driver in pushing a disabled car out of the road on Greenacres Avenue.
Police called a tow for a disabled car on Tompkins Road Dec. 6.

On Dec. 7, police responded to Walworth Avenue because a resident claimed construction vehicles blocked in her car. Allegedly, a worker told the resident, “You should have left earlier, “ when she asked him to move the vehicle away from her driveway. Police helped the resident maneuver her car out of the driveway.

Police issued a summons to the owner of a parked car blocking a Gaylor Road driveway Dec. 7.

Police informed water department about a leaking valve at Walworth Avenue and Colvin Road Dec. 8.

Police stopped RT Vasquezalleyne of Brooklyn on the Post Road at Fenimore Road at 3:23 pm on 12/8. He was driving a moped and changed lanes without signaling. Upon investigation, police determined that Vasquezalleyne had no license, no helmet and no face shield. He was charged with changing lanes unsafely as well. The moped also had no registration plate.Police issued a summons to a driver of a motorcycle who did not have a valid registration plate, after the motorcycle was spotted on Post Road Dec. 8.

A female driver, who stopped in a Boulevard parking lot, reported a man was following her, Dec. 8. Police spoke with him, and he identified himself as a private investigator. The woman told police she believed the man is a worker’s comp investigator.

Police advised a tree-trimming worker to use a flagger to divert traffic around their work zone on Popham Road Dec. 9.

Tree-trimming signage was creating a visibility hazard with regard to traffic on Post Road Dec. 9. Police helped workers relocate the signs.

Police helped a driver find her parked car on Harwood Court Dec. 9.

Verizon was notified about a low-hanging wire on Tunstall Road Dec. 9.

Bob Harrison, age 81 of Fox Meadow Road was stopped by police on the Post Road at Oxford Road on Saturday morning December 10 at 9:19 am for driving 66 miles per hour in a zone where the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. When police asked to see Harrison’s license they found that it was suspended for “administrative actions by department.” Police contacted Harrison’s son to pick him up and take him and his car home. He was issued tickets for speeding and driving without a license.

The registration of a car was suspended due to lack of toll payment. On Dec. 10, police pulled over the car on Post Road for a traffic stop and subsequently issued the driver of summons.

On Dec. 10, police assisted a driver in pushing a disabled car out of Post Road.

Police stood by while a flat tire was changed on a disabled car at Popham and Lockwood roads Dec. 11.
A construction fence blew into Murray Hill Road Dec. 12. Police corrected the situation.

Village code
Police issued a summons to landscapers for using gas-powered leaf blowers in violation of Village code on Fayette Road, after a caller complained that leaves were blowing around and causing a “blinding effect” for drivers Dec. 7.

Early Dec. 11, police advised a Dolma Road party host that neighbors had complained of noise. The host agreed to turn off the music.

Animals
A Cornell Road resident twice reported seeing a possibly sick fox in a nearby yard Dec. 10. Police observed the fox in a neighbor’s yard. It appeared to suffer from mange, and therefore, might be able to recover.
A hungry-looking cat was found on Innes Road Dec. 10. It was picked up by a representative of New Rochelle Humane Society.

Two callers reported seeing a loose German shepherd running outside in the area of Mamaroneck and Leatherstocking roads and Post and Fenimore roads Dec. 10.

On Dec. 11, police received a report of a loose brown dog, about the size of a German shepherd, on Post and Fenimore roads.

Firefighters
Power lines caught fire on Griffen Avenue Dec. 5. Firefighters cut power to the lines and stood by for Con Edison. The fire subsided as soon as the power was cut.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway Dec. 6. One car was removed by tow. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters checked an Ogden Road basement for possible carbon monoxide after a resident expressed concerns related to a gas-heating unit that had recently been serviced Dec. 6.

Firefighters ventilated Scarsdale Village Hall after charred food in a toaster oven released smoke and a burnt odor inside the building Dec. 7.

Firefighters assisted at car accidents on the Hutchinson River Parkway Dec. 7 and 9.

Firefighters assisted at the scene of an unconscious person found inside a black BMW SUV parked at the sanitation yard Dec. 9. The front window was smashed by first responders who were already on scene performing CPR when firefighters arrived. Firefighters helped package the patient so Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps could transport him to the hospital.

Firefighters used a fan to ventilate fireplace smoke from a Crawford Lane house Dec. 9.

On Dec. 11, firefighters ventilated a Walworth Avenue house due to accumulated fireplace smoke, resulting from a closed flue.

tree lighting 2019Stolen cars: On the evening of Dec. 3, a Hanover Road resident reported her BMW X7, Valued at $100,000 had been stolen from her driveway. Her purse and key fob were also reported missing from the house. The front and rear doors of the house had been left unlocked during the hours of 3 – 9 pm, when the theft occurred.

A caller reported his GPS monitoring device was pinging his stolen car’s location in the Village near Hanover Road Dec. 3. Police went to the location, but the car was no longer there.

White Plains Man Arrested Twice In One Week
On Nov. 29, police arrested David G. Metsch, 34, of White Plains, on the strength of an arrest warrant, issued out of Scarsdale for failure to appear on a previous aggravated harassment charge. Following arrest processing, Metsch was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear on Dec. 7. On Dec. 2, police arrested David G. Metsch, 34, of White Plains, again after he turned himself in to White Plains police for violating an order of protection. He was remanded to Westchester County Jail.

Stolen purse
A woman reported her purse was stolen from her car while she was parked at the Scarsdale track Dec. 2. The perpetrator smashed a car window to steal the purse from the car, which was locked.

Package theft
On Nov. 28, a Gatehouse Road resident reported that two Amazon packages were stolen from his front porch two days ago.

ID theft
A Park Road resident reported being the victim of identity theft Nov. 30. He received an email alleging to be from a representative of a company that sells office supplies. He supplied banking information via the email and authorized a down payment. Afterward, he realized $20,000 was stolen from his account.

On Dec. 1, a Lyons Road man walked into headquarters and reported someone used his personal information to attempt to open a line of credit at Bank of America.

Mischief
A Lyons Road woman reported that someone cut outside wires to her holiday lights outside her house Nov. 28. Police examined the wire and noticed a section was cut out in two places. Police canvassed the neighborhood for any surveillance cameras to aid in their investigation.

Help
A Scarsdale Avenue employee asked police to walk her to her car after she locked up for the night, due to concerns about a person who called repeatedly during the day for no legitimate reason Nov. 29.

Politics
Police were called to mediate a dispute between two men arguing about “Russian politics” on Madison Road. They were gone when police arrived.

Domestic matters
Police intervened in a domestic encounter in Edgewood after a wife called to report that her husband came home and started slamming things around and causing a ruckus Nov 30. Later the wife called back to report her husband was calling her names and threatening to videotape her. When police arrived, the wife said she was trying to sleep and her husband was making to much noise. He was eating dinner in the kitchen. He said he would take the dog out for a walk while his wife tried to sleep. On Dec. 1, police came to the house again when the husband called to report his wife was out of control. They said there had been a verbal argument, but they were under control when police arrived.

On Dec. 5, at 1 a.m., a Greenburgh police requested a welfare check of a girl staying at a Greenacres Avenue house. The girl allegedly left her house during a domestic incident and Greenburgh police wanted to make sure she was ok. She was fine and said she preferred to spend the night at the Greenacres Avenue house.

Noise
Possible gunshot noise on Secor Road was determined to be noisemakers used to deter geese from gathering in the area Dec. 2.

Neighbors
On Dec. 4, a Wynmor Road resident reported having a problem with a neighbor. The resident reported that her cat went into the neighbor’s yard and she entered the yard to retrieve the cat. The neighbor was upset about this and shooed that cat into the street, which the resident wasn’t happy about.

Cars and roadways
On Nov. 28, police helped a driver push a disabled car off of Mamaroneck and Garden roads so the driver could safely wait for a tow.

A sanitation vehicle and a water delivery truck got into an accident on Berkeley Road Nov. 28.

Police checked on the safety of a site where tree workers on East Parkway were using flaggers to direct traffic Nov. 29. They determined the site was safe.

Police notified the highway department about a fallen branch on Birchall Drive Nov. 30.

A large branch and dangling wire were reported on Kensington Road private property Nov. 30. Police notified the Verizon and the homeowner.

Police re-secured a fallen street sign at Forest and Woods lanes Nov. 30.

Verizon was notified about fallen wires at Stratton Road and Mamaroneck Road and the Hutchinson River Parkway Nov. 30 and Tompkins Road Dec. 1.

Police removed an errant trashcan from the side of Madison Road Nov. 30.

An optimum worker was blocking traffic on Mamaroneck Road, with no flaggers present, Dec. 2. Police advised the worker to rectify the unsafe working and traffic condition.

Police corrected a traffic jam at Cornell Street and Weaver Street due to Con Edison work Dec. 2.

On Dec. 3, police threw away an empty gold box with a red ribbon found on Crane Road.

On Dec. 4, police helped a driver push a disabled car off of Mamaroneck Road and Palmer Ave. so the driver could safely wait for a tow.

Five car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Animals
On Nov. 30, police shot a sick raccoon on Birchall Drive in the interest of public safety.

A large black and white bird was found dead on Popham Road Dec. 2. It was reported to be an eagle but this has not been confirmed. Highway workers removed it.

Police removed and discarded advertising signs from Berkeley, Brewster, Kingston, Montrose, Fox Meadow and Claremont roads Nov. 29, Brewster Road and Sage Terrace Dec. 1, Walworth Ave. Dec. 2 and Cushman Road Dec. 4.

On Nov. 29, a Brewster Road resident moved a sign asking for SVAC volunteers to the proper location in her yard, out of the Village right of way.

On Nov. 30, police removed illegally posted signs on Brookby Road and issued summonses as appropriate.

Lost and found
On Dec. 2, police returned a driver’s license found on Depot Place to its owner in the Village.

A wallet was found on Popham Road Dec. 4.

On Nov. 28, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a malfunctioning oven.
On Nov. 29, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of gas odor near a pool heater at an Olmstead Road house.
A tree was leaning onto a wire at Penn Blvd. and Franklin Road Nov. 30. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison.

Firefighters removed a malfunctioning space heater from a Heathcote Road house Dec. 3.
Firefighters shut down a boiler and ventilated a Kent Road house due to elevated levels of carbon monoxide Dec. 3. They stood by for Con Edison.
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Tompkins Road Dec. 3.

On Dec. 3, firefighters were called to extinguish a dryer fire in a Brittany Close house. Hartsdale firefighters assisted. One resident was assessed by SVAC, and one dog was removed from the structure. Con-Ed gas and electric were dispatched to the scene to isolate the electrical and gas connections affected by the fire. The Scarsdale FD Cause and Origin team responded and performed an investigation. The cause of the fire was deemed unintentional, as a semi-rigid duct located at the area of origin showed the heaviest level of involvement and displayed charred remains of lint.

A car that backed into a Fayette Road garage with its engine running showed elevated levels of carbon monoxide Dec. 4. Firefighters ventilated the space.

turkeyA security officer at First Republic Bank on Popham Road reported that security camera footage revealed two white men placing an overlay skimmer on the front door card reader as well as two cameras on each ATM, to the right of the keypad, inside the bank’s vestibule Nov. 20. Police removed the devices and vouchered them for evidence.

Arrested
Daniel Darius James – 26, of Nanuet – was arrested on the strength of a vehicle and traffic law related warrant, issued out of the town of Ramapo, following a car accident in the Village Nov. 16. Ramapo police picked up James following the arrest.

Stolen car and credit card
On Nov. 19, a Madison Road resident reported his $100,000 2022 Mercedes-Benz had been stolen from his driveway. During the theft, the car was driven across the lawn, damaging landscaping and $1,000 landscape lighting.

A Lyons Road woman reported her credit card was stolen in the vicinity of Scarsdale Avenue and someone attempted to use the card for an unknown charge on Nov. 20.

Scams
Police determined that “harassing text messages” received by an Archer Lane resident were the result of an attempted scam Nov. 16.

On Nov. 17, a Church Lane resident reported that he had been involved in a scam and lost $6,800.

Identity theft
On Nov. 18, a Jefferson Road resident reported that someone opened a line of credit in his name and accumulated $2,600 worth of purchases that remained unpaid.

A Garth Road resident reported an incident of identity theft resulting in a loss of $128.21on Nov. 19.

Alcohol
A caller alleged that a person bought a case of beer from a Scarsdale Avenue establishment and gave it to a group of youths outside the store Nov. 18. Police spoke with store employees who said they were unaware of the incident. They said they check IDs before selling alcohol to customers.

Employment
A Heathcote Road caller reported that she fired a visiting nurse and no longer wanted the nurse in her house Nov. 19. Police reiterated the caller’s wishes to the nursing agency.

Cars and roadways
Police asked workers to move their construction vehicles off of Overlook Road and into a driveway to avoid congestion Nov. 14.
Responding to calls of a disabled motor vehicle at Post and Crane roads Nov. 14, police issued the driver multiple summonses.
Police issued a parking summons to the driver of a parked car, blocking a driveway, on Chesterfield Road Nov. 14.
On Nov. 14, police advised drivers about safe parking practices on Sage Terrace and Huntington Avenue.
Police notified Verizon of low-hanging wires on Richbell Road Nov. 14.
On Nov. 15, police observed a car with scofflaw status, totaling $270, parked on Scarsdale Avenue. They impounded the car.
A bicyclist fell from his bike on Post Road Nov. 15. Police offered assistance, but the bicycle rider refused.
A driver reported “spinning out” on wet leaves on Olmsted and Brewster roads Nov. 16. Police organized the highway department for removal.
On Nov. 16, police issued a summons to a driver whose Maserati did not have an active tail light while driving on Mamaroneck Road.
On Nov. 18, police issued a summons to a driver whose Mercedes-Benz did not have an active headlight while driving on Fenimore Road.

Police provided traffic control around a disabled car on Popham Road Nov. 19.

Police located the drivers of cars parked at bagged meters on East Parkway and asked them to move their cars Nov. 19. They also put up caution tape to further block the parking spaces.

A parkway sign fell near the northbound entrance of the Hutchison River Parkway on Mamaroneck Road Nov. 19. Police placed the sign on the median and notified Westchester County Police for replacement.

Police asked Con Edison to check on a low-hanging wire on Madison Road Nov. 20.

On Nov. 20, police removed fallen tree debris from Heathcote and Sherbrooke roads.

Police advised a Fox Meadow Road resident it was illegal to park on a front yard; so the resident moved his car Nov. 17.

Police issued summonses to landscapers using gas-powered blowers on Marjory Lane and Secor and Elm roads Nov. 19.

A leaf pile was obstructing Barker Lane Nov. 19. Police mailed the homeowner a summons.

Animals
On Nov. 14, police moved a dead raccoon to the side of Griffen Avenue and notified the Town of Mamaroneck police for disposal.

Police advised the owner of a barking dog on Nelson Road that neighbors complained of noise; so the owner brought the dog inside Nov. 16.

On Nov. 16, a caller reported her dog was struck by an unknown car at Aspen and Bansom roads the previous day.

Lost and found
On Nov. 16, police notified the owner of a license plate that the plate was found in a Weaver Street parking lot. They made plans to have the plate picked up.

A Harvest Drive resident reported he lost his police surgeon’s badge and needed a police report to obtain a replacement Nov. 18.

Firefighters
On Nov. 14, police and firefighters observed workers cutting concrete with a gas-powered saw inside a Garth Road restaurant space. Firefighters ventilated the space and advised workers on proper safety practices. They also asked the building department to check the building for any additional violations. Violations were discovered and brought to the owner’s attention.
Elevated carbon monoxide caused by a gas-powered tool was found in a Garth Road building Nov. 14. Firefighters ventilated the space and contacted building management to communicate with the contractors.

A School Lane school had elevated levels of carbon monoxide Nov. 14. Firefighters ventilated the space and requested Con Edison. Con Edison traced the problem to a defective hot water boiler.

Firefighters assisted Mount Kisco fire department with an incident in which a car crashed into the side of a single-family house Nov. 14.

On Nov. 14, firefighters shut down a defective dishwasher and isolated the circuit breaker in a Crawford Lane house.

Firefighters isolated a leaking shower valve in an Axtell Road house Nov. 15.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Post Road Nov. 15.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Mamaroneck Road Nov. 16.

Firefighters helped a Sage Terrace resident get into her house with a key Nov. 16.

A heater in a Post Road basement was malfunctioning and causing a haze in a Post Road house Nov. 17. Firefighters disconnected the unit and advised service.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak on Nelson Road Nov. 17.

Firefighters assisted at a four-car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway Nov. 17.

Firefighters checked the safety of an excavation trench on Windmill Circle Nov. 19. The workers were aware that shoring was necessary in the trench.

A fire extinguisher fell to the ground in Balducci’s market and discharged Nov. 19. Firefighters helped clean up the powder and helped replace the extinguisher.

An outlet was smoking in a Gilmore Court house Nov. 19. Firefighters isolated the circuit and discovered the cause was from a short circuit in a newly installed connection where two wires were touching, causing scorch marks. Firefighters advised to call an electrician for repair.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a transformer explosion on Post Road Nov. 19.

On Nov. 20, elevated carbon monoxide was detected in a Bell Road house. Firefighters ventilated the space and advised oil burner service while waiting for Con Edison. Following service, the boiler was smoking again. Firefighters returned to the house, measured additional carbon monoxide and advised to have the technician return to service the boiler again.

Firefighters investigated an odor in a Stonehouse Road house Nov. 20. It was determined that paint was the cause of the odor.

Threat
A grandson allegedly made threats to a Saxon Woods Road resident’s family, via a call to the resident’s son, Nov. 22. The Saxon Woods Road resident/grandparent asked police to assist in documenting the threats.

Police advised a driver of scofflaw status on her car due to unpaid parking tickets Nov. 22. The driver said she would address the matter promptly to avoid having her car towed for its parking spot on Garth Road.

A driver reported her car was sideswiped at Post and Heathcote roads by a red Toyota that left the scene Nov. 22.

A bus reportedly backed into a parked car on Paddington Road Nov. 22. No injuries were reported.

Police mediated a verbal dispute among drivers whose cars were involved in a car accident that occurred on the Bronx River Parkway, near Crane Road, and which got relocated to East Parkway Nov. 22.

A Chesterfield Road resident reported that the emergency entrance key lock cover on his 2017 Range Rover was missing Nov. 22. Police did not believe the car had been tampered with, but rather that the cover had been knocked off inadvertently.

On Nov. 23, police helped a driver with a flat tire move the disabled car to a safe location near Mamaroneck and Post roads, while the driver waited for assistance.

A Mamaroneck Road man received a car registration, listing the wrong VIN number, from the DMV due to a numerical error Nov. 23.

Police documented the correct VIN number in order for the DMV to change the registration and correct the error.

Police assisted Con Edison work crews by closing a portion of Post Road and Wayside Lane while workers removed a fallen tree and wires Nov. 25.

Three car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Knocking
A man in a white van attempted to make an unexpected delivery and knocked ”aggressively” on the front door of an Oak Lane house Nov. 21. The homeowner reported it to police.

A Nelson Road resident reported someone “aggressively knocked on his door twice” before leaving Nov. 24.

Noise
An Ardmore Road resident reported an alarm was sounding nearby but later realized it was an appliance starting up in her basement Nov. 25.

Wind was blowing through a window that was ajar in a Seneca Road house, causing a noise that made the homeowner wonder if someone was inside the house Nov. 25.

Village code
Police issued landscapers summonses for using gas-powered blowers in violation of Village code on Fenimore Road Nov. 21 and Woodland Place Nov. 26.

A large pile of leaves was blocking Brayton Road Nov. 21. The homeowner responsible for the leaves said he would move the pile.

Police discarded signs posted in the Village right of way, in violation of Village code, on Mamaroneck Road Nov. 22, Oak Lane and Chesterfield and Hampton roads Nov. 25 and Murray Hill Road Nov. 26.

Police advised homeowners of signs posted in violation of Village code on Greenacres Avenue Nov. 23.

A caller complained of noise from a possible youth party on Hampton Road Nov. 23. Police spoke with a parent on scene that said he would monitor the noise of a gathering his son was having with friends.

Policed advised a Secor Road establishment of a noise complaint Nov. 26. The manager advised the DJ to lower the volume of his music and his microphone.

Lost and found
On Nov. 21, a passerby found a wallet at Berkeley and Claremont roads and gave it to police. Police tracked down the owner and facilitated the return of the wallet.

A Madison Road woman reported losing her car’s license plates somewhere in the Village Nov. 22.

A man reported losing his iPhone after exiting a Lyft car on East Parkway Nov. 23.

A Boulevard woman reported that he $7,000 Rolex watch was either lost of stolen from a handbag that she gave to a local consignment company in February 2022.

Police advised her to follow up with the consignment company.

Police took a driver’s license found in the Village to the Chase Road post office and mailed it back to its owner Nov. 26.

Firefighters
On Nov. 21, firefighters assisted Greenville Fire Department control a structure fire in their jurisdiction.

On Nov. 22, a contractor struck a gas line on Paddington Road. Firefighters assisted Con Edison, evacuated residents as needed and stood by as a safety precaution.

On Nov.22, firefighters shut down a heating system that was releasing carbon monoxide in an Ogden Road house, ventilated the space and stood by for Con Edison.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident at Brite Avenue and Fenimore Road Nov. 23.

Firefighters shut power to a switchboard and heating unit that were emitting an odor in a Rock Creek Lane basement and advised the homeowner to call for service Nov. 24.

Firefighting isolated a heating system leak in a Ridgecrest East house and advised the homeowner to call for service Nov. 24.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident at Crossway and Weaver Street Nov. 25.

fallleavesVillage code violations: Police spoke with homeowners and real estate agents to move signs placed in the Village right of way, so that the signs would be in compliance with Village code, on Carthage and Murray Hill roads Nov. 7, Richelieu and Hamilton roads Nov. 8, Brewster and Post roads and Hickory Lane Nov. 9, and Cushman Road Nov. 13. Advertising signs, which prompted police to issued summonses to the owners, were removed from Clarence Road Nov. 9. One real estate agent was issued a summons on Nov.10 because she did not comply with relocating her sign on Brewster Road after she was given a 24-hour warning with instructions to relocate the sign. Other signs, with no identifiable owner, were removed and discarded from East Parkway, Bypass, Weaver Street, Griffen and Scarsdale avenues and Fenimore, Popham, Fox Meadow, Heathcote, Mamaroneck and Meadow roads this week.

Police issued summonses for improper use of gas-powered leaf blowers to landscapers on Nelson Road Nov. 7 and Carman Road Nov. 12.

Leaves left on Berkeley Road were blocking the roadway Nov. 8. Police issued the homeowner a summons.

Leaves left on Brewster Road were blocking the roadway Nov. 9. It was eight feet deep, 30 feet long and five feet high. Police issued the homeowner a summons. Other leaf piles were blocking the sidewalk on Heathcote Road this day. Summonses were also issued.

On Nov. 10, police issued summonses for leaf piles, placed in violation of Village code, on Tisdale Road and Greenacres Avenue.

On Nov. 11, police issued summonses for leaf piles, placed in violation of Village code, on White and Catherine roads and Brite Avenue. Brite Avenue piles, in particular, were observed to be extending into the roadway more than five, six, seven and nine feet. One pile was also blocking a fire hydrant.

A delivery driver was making a delivery on Scarsdale Avenue at 5:47 a.m., Nov. 10. Police informed the driver that deliveries were permitted only after 6:30 a.m. weekdays and after 8:00 a.m. on weekends.

Police dispersed noisy kids from Roosevelt Place Nov. 12.

Police issued noisy workers a summons for starting work prior to 10 a.m. on Cushman Road on Sunday, Nov. 13.

A Church Lane man complained his neighbor was cutting down trees Nov. 7. The neighbor produced a valid permit for the work, and the job continued.

Stolen
A Chase Road woman reported that a bag worth approximately $1,890 was missing from her house Nov.9.

Identity theft
On Nov. 11, a Church Lane resident reported that a line of credit was opened in his name without his knowledge or permission on Nov. 8. The account was closed, and no loss occurred.

On Nov. 12, a Rugby Lane resident reported that a line of credit was attempted to be opened in his name without his knowledge or permission.

Arrest on warrant
On Nov. 9, police picked up a defendant from Westchester County Jail and transported him to Scarsdale where he was arrested on the strength of a bench warrant Nov. 9.

Help
Highway workers helped retrieve keys that fell into a storm drain at Spencer Place and Chase Road Nov. 11.

Police mediated a disagreement between two residents over the “norms” of laundry machines in a Chateaux Circle laundry room Nov. 13.

Cars and roadways
A car struck a White Avenue fire hydrant and left the scene Nov. 7.

Police asked the highway department to remove a large fallen branch from Post and Burgess roads Nov. 7.

Police helped a driver whose car ran out of gas on Post Road around 9 p.m., Nov. 7.

Police helped the driver of a large truck safely maneuver its way onto Post Road from Tompkins Road Nov. 8.

A car parked illegally in a Popham Road lot was towed to White Plains, as per building management, Nov. 9. Police were informed in case the owner inquired about the car.

Police asked workers to move construction vehicles so a Normandy Lane resident could safely and easily enter and exit his driveway Nov. 9.

A truck that struck a bridge on the Hutchinson River Parkway was stopped on an entrance ramp, obstructing traffic flow Nov. 9. Police assisted Westchester County police move the truck to a safer location where it could be inspected and the diver could be cited.
Police provided directions to an elderly couple in a white Honda on Crossway, due to the fact that they had made a wrong turn and gotten lost, Nov. 9.

On Nov. 10, a BMW, with Florida license plates, which had scofflaw status, was observed on Harwood Court. Police spoke with the owner who said she would respond to Village Hall immediately to rectify the matter.

Police notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Fairview Road Nov. 12.

Damage to a car parked in a lot at Autenreith and Popham roads, during inclement weather, was most likely caused by storm debris, police told the owner of the car, Nov. 12. They advised her on proper follow-up.

A tree was resting on telecommunications wires on Whig Road Nov.12. Police taped off the area and notified Verizon.

Four car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Civil matters
On Nov. 9, a Brewster Road woman alleged her neighbor drives onto her driveway and knocks down cones. Police advised the woman this was a civil matter.

On Nov. 12, the trustee of an estate, involving a house in Scarsdale, reported that a person changed locks on the house and had mail forwarded from the house address to another address, without proper permission. The person who allegedly committed these acts had been named in a previous will but had been “left out” of the current will, the trustee said. Police advised it was a civil matter and urged the trustee to document all interactions with the person.

Animals
A Hampton Road resident expressed concern over “erratic behavior” of a squirrel in the backyard Nov. 7. Police observed the squirrel and noted its behavior was consistent with other members of its species. It did not appear sick or injured, according to police. Police then helped to relocate the squirrel to the woods in a less populated area of the Village.

Police helped reunite a dog with its owner on Hampton Road Nov. 8.

A sick raccoon was reported to be in a sewer catch basin on Varian Lane Nov. 9. According to the police report, “patrol drove over the sick raccoon with [a police cruiser], and it was in an obvious lifeless condition.” The highway department was notified for removal.

On Nov. 10, a dead deer was found on Griffen Avenue. Police asked the highway department to remove it.

Lost and found
On Nov. 11, a driver’s license was found on Brewster Road, near Fox Meadow School, by a passerby and given to police. Police vouchered it for safekeeping.

Firefighters
On Nov. 8, a Popham Road resident reported that building maintenance staff “ inadequately repaired ceiling concrete with ‘spackle.’” The resident provided fire department members with photographs that included the images of the ceiling damage before the repair. The photographs depicted a ceiling with exposed reinforcement bar. The ceiling structure is noted to be concrete with steel bar reinforcements, called rebar, and finished with plaster typical of fire resistive structures. The resident’s apartment is located on the top floor of the building with a contiguous apartment ceiling and roof structure, according to firefighters. In the apartment in question, firefighters observed cracks in an approximately four-foot by 2-foot section of the ceiling where a repair had been performed. These cracks were deemed to be consistent with the shrinking effect that occurs as water evaporates from thick applications of a compound or filler. Firefighters evaluated the roofing material above the apartment and noted a heavily weathered membrane with no obvious penetrations. Command advised the resident that the apartment could continue to be occupied but to avoid areas of the apartment with the observed cracking and damage. The Scarsdale Building Department was notified of the damage to ensure that proper repairs are arranged.

On Nov.9, firefighters were called to Sycamore Road on the report of an outdoor brush fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found a gas-powered lawn mower was involved and on fire as well. Firefighters extinguished the equipment fire and the burning brush area around the machine. They overhauled the mower to make sure the fire was completely extinguished. The landscaping company removed the burnt lawn equipment from the premises, and firefighters informed the homeowner.

On Nov.10, a Morris Lane worker reported a gas odor coming from an open excavation. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison and checked the basement of nearby houses to verify that no gas had migrated inside.

On Nov. 11, firefighters were called to investigate a reported smoking car at Post Road and Lorraine Place. Upon arrival, firefighters found a car with its hood up with what appeared to be smoke coming from the engine compartment. Upon further investigation, the “smoke” was determined to be steam, and there was engine coolant dripping out of the radiator. Firefighters identified this matter as an engine overheat. They isolated the battery to ensure safety.

On Nov. 12, a driver stated he saw smoke coming from his car while driving near Huntington Avenue and Post Road. He then pulled over, opened the hood and noted flames in the engine compartment. When he dropped the hood, the flames dissipated. Charred leaves and organic material were noted below the hood. No obvious damage was noted to the vehicle; however; however, underlying damage could not be ruled out. Firefighters advised to have vehicle towed for evaluation of safe operation.
