On Monday, May 4th, at 6:30 PM, a Bond Town Hall meeting was held at Fox Meadow School for the purpose of reviewing the building renovation proposal to be funded by the proposed 2026 school bond and to answer community members’ questions.
$28.9mm of the $101.7mm bond proposal will go to expand and repurpose Fox Meadow School, including the following:
Two-story addition: A new library, learning commons/dining space, computer technology room and additional storage.
New classrooms: Repurpose the current multipurpose room and library to create four additional classrooms.
Interior upgrades: Renovations to 21 classrooms, including new flooring, lighting, ceilings and flexible furniture to support individual and collaborative learning.
Infrastructure and air conditioning improvements: Major building modernization including replacement of outdated systems to ensure sustainabability and installation of air conditioning in large student spaces.

The meeting began with a tour of the lower level of the school, led by Fox Meadow Principal Mellissa Feinberg. She was accompanied by the District’s Architects, Construction Managers, Building Supervisors, BOE Members, as well as Drew Patrick and Andrew Lennon. We were all able to spend time in existing classrooms, which tended to be small, overcrowded, and which were built almost 100 years ago.
A dinner meeting was convened in the Lower Multi-Purpose Room, where everyone listened to prepared remarks from Superintendent Patrick, and Assistant Superintendent Andrew Lennon. Thoughtful questions were posed and answered by the team.
The lower Multi-Purpose Room is located in the back of the school, which will be the connecting point for the proposed new construction. Below is a rough schematic of the proposed addition. There’s also a summary listing of enrollment increases over the past five years, and a rough estimate of the enrollment which could be expected over the next several years.

And since many Fox Meadow Residents are part of the financial community, the meeting included a portion on the financial plan. Patrick reminded everyone that the total proposed bond offering was reviewed five separate times and each time it was adjusted based on community feedback. Last, Andrew Lennon reviewed the average annual cost over the life of the construction financings, and the bar chart below displays the cost to a “Median Homeowner”.
What will homeowners pay for the bond?
The community dinner meeting was attended by parents of all ages, the Q and A Session was open and frank and appeared to answer everyone’s questions.

Overall, it was great to see neighbors talking about the community’s collective investment in a calm and thoughtful manner. It was the very best of Scarsdale! And the soft tacos were perfect!
