Scarsdale Girls Soccer Comes out on Top in Close Game with John Jay East Fishkill

Eliza Wechsler clears the ball from the defensive end.On Tuesday afternoon, 9/15, the varsity girls soccer team played John Jay. Scarsdale took the win in a tight 4-3 game. John Jay started off early with a goal in the seventh minute, but Scarsdale responded with captain Paige Neustadt scoring a minute later. Scarsdale had tied the game, but John Jay was quick to score again, with a goal in the 11th minute. John Jay was able to keep this lead for a while, until Keaton Sapirstein scored in the 35th minute. Four minutes later, in the 39th minute, captain Oonagh Walsh hit a corner kick, which Neustadt headed into the net for her second goal. This goal put Scarsdale up by one at half. 

The second half started off very slow, with neither team scoring for the first 35 minutes. In the 76th minute, Neustadt scored another goal for Scarsdale. This goal gave her a hat trick for the game. Scarsdale was up two goals with only 14 minutes left in the game. Scarsdale was not able to keep the two goal lead for long, as John Jay scored in the 79th minute. With only 11 minutes left, John Jay was not able to score another goal, and Scarsdale won 4-3, in a close game. The player from Scarsdale with the most goals was Paige Neustadt, with a hat trick.
