Police Issue Summons for Oversized Leaf Piles

leafpileIdentity theft; On Dec. 4, a Depot Place business owner advised of a past fraudulent charge. The suspect who made the fraudulent purchases was suspected to be a 32 year-old NJ man.

Police assisted EMS workers lift a 75 year-old patient on Lyons Road on Dec. 2.

On Dec. 7, a Harwood Court property manager requested help in getting a homeless man to leave the building. Police escorted the homeless man out of the building and transported him to the Oasis shelter in New Rochelle where he could spend the night.

Cars and roadways
Policed removed a fallen wire from Post Rd. Dec. 3.
On Dec. 4, a 74 year old woman advised that a gray Malibu ran over her foot and left the scene at the church parking lot on Church Lane.

A Tuckahoe driver struck a pedestrian at Harwood Court and Spencer Place Dec. 4.

On Dec. 5, police found a key in the ignition of a parked car on Depot Place. They removed the key and returned it to its owner.

A car was idling for 45 minutes in a Brambach Rd. driveway Dec. 5. The driver told police he had a battery issue and did not want to turn off the car. Police advised about the no-idling Village code, and the driver said he would move the car momentarily.

Keys were locked inside a car on Rock Creek Lane Dec. 7. Police helped open the car without incident.

Police advised the highway department to clean up car debris and spilled trash from Bypass Dec. 7.

Village code
Police investigated a report of a large leaf pile blocking Paddington Rd. Dec. 3. It was measured to be 8 feet by 20 feet, and it was determined to be blocking a lane of traffic. They issued the homeowner a summons.

A Fox Meadow Rd. solicitor was told to carry a copy of the valid permit for solicitation when working in the Village Dec. 7.

An illegally posted sign was removed from Popham Rd. and discarded Dec. 8.

A Meadow Rd. resident complained of a large leaf pile, from various houses, on the street Dec. 8. It was protruding at least 8 feet into a traffic lane, and had branches mixed in. Police issued appropriate summonses.

Police issued a summons to the owner of an illegally posted sign on Huntington Ave. Dec. 8.

Police issued summonses to the homeowner on Meadow Rd. whose leaf pile was protruding at least 9 feet into the traffic lane.

Lost and found
On Dec. 3, a Brambach Rd. resident reported losing one of his license plates.
A laptop was found at Depot Place, and a passerby brought it to police for safekeeping Dec. 3.

On Dec. 5, a passerby found an iPhone on East Parkway and gave it to police, who returned it to its owner.

Firefighters
On Dec. 2, a contractor removed a furnace from a Mamaroneck Rd. house, cut Freon lines by mistake, and Freon accidentally leaked into this basement. Firefighters removed affected items, ventilated the basement and made sure the air quality was good before leaving.

On Dec. 3, firefighters powered down household HVAC equipment after it emitted a burning odor. They advised getting the equipment serviced by a professional technician.

On Dec. 3, a car accident involving a Tesla on Shore Rd. and Pelhamdale Ave., in New Rochelle, caused the Tesla to catch fire. Two occupants of the car died on scene. Firefighters assisted other jurisdictions.

Firefighters assisted at car accidents on the Hutchinson River Parkway Dec. 4 and 5.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a reported gas odor and possible leak on Crane Rd. Dec. 6.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Bronx River Parkway Dec. 6.

On Dec. 7, firefighters were dispatched to a Tompkins Rd. house for reported smoke. The resident said he raked hot embers from an active fire in the fireplace into an ash pit that discharged into the garage. No smoke or extension was found. The ash pit “clean out” below the fireplace was intact and made of non-combustible materials. The resident raked hot ash onto the concrete floor in the garage.

On Dec. 7, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak at a gas fireplace inside a Nelson Rd. house. The appliance was shut down and service was recommended.
