Police Report: Connecticut Man Arrested for Drunk Driving and a Dispute at the Ambassador

Arrested: On Dec. 22, a 36-year-old New Milford, Connecticut, driver was arrested following a car accident at Post and Sherbrooke roads, with the driver’s 2013 Ram pickup truck facing the wrong direction. The driver was charged with intoxicated operation of a motor vehicle with a prior conviction, refusal to take a breath test and failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle. The driver was released on his own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket for Village Justice Court for Jan. 8.

Stolen
A Village employee reported someone stole a Con Edison electric meter and master lock from a platform at Scarsdale High School on Post Rd. Dec. 18.

A scooter was reported to have been stolen from a Post Rd. location Dec. 20.

Identity theft
On Dec. 18, a Brookby Rd. resident stated that she had three unauthorized charges on her credit card. The amounts of the charges were $403.48, $467.10, and $330.63 – all made on Dec. 18. She already reported the charges to the credit card company and that they requested her to contact the police.

Scam
On Dec. 16, a Drake Rd. resident reported he had been scammed out of money. He said he received a call from a caller claiming to be from Coinbase. The caller stated the resident would need to move his crypto currency from his apple wallet app to another account, or else he would be at risk of losing his funds. The resident obliged and sent $1,657 USD from his virtual wallet into another wallet, which the caller provided the account number for. After sending the funds, the complainant realized it was a scam and contacted Coinbase Tech Support. Coinbase advised that they would attempt to refund the money, but they required police documentation of the incident to proceed.

Suspicious
On Dec. 17, a UPS driver called and stated two women driving a black Mercedes sedan stopped him three times trying to get a package that was being delivered to a Catherine Rd. house. The driver stated the women were not residents of the address. Patrol responded to the location and spoke with the homeowner who was unaware of the above.

On Dec. 17, a caller reported multiple people with flashlights on his Deerfield Rd. property. Patrol arrived on scene and observed a male leaving the location. Patrol spoke with the male who advised he was a HVAC worker and came to drop some equipment off for a job the next day. The male was able to access the locked residence with a key and showed patrol the mentioned equipment with his name and the address on the label. The man secured the residence prior to police departure.

A garbage bag with suspicious contours was examined by police and was determined to contain leaves Dec. 19.

Drones
Drone sightings were reported on Greenacres Ave. and above the Scarsdale water tower this week.

Doorbell
Three female youths rang a Griffen Rd. doorbell and ran away Dec. 21. The homeowner believed the girls might have been intoxicated.

Intervention
A Christie Place business employee was having an issue with an individual, and the individual complained to police Dec. 22. Patrol arrived at the location and spoke to the calling party who stated that he was told by an employee to stop standing in front of the listed location. Patrol spoke to the employee who stated that the calling party has been entering the store and saying disrespectful things to his employees and customers. He further stated that the calling party never purchases any food but instead just walks around the store. Patrol advised the businesses to call police next time the party returns to advise him that he is not to return as per the owner of the establishment.

Policy dispute
On Dec. 20, a Saxon Woods Rd. resident reported her husband was removed from the location against his will by location staff. Patrol arrived on scene and spoke with the nursing supervisor who advised that two of their residents “cannot sleep together due to a past dispute.” Patrol was made aware of a policy by The Ambassador “against couples and disputes” that states couples cannot sleep together until matters are resolved. Patrol then spoke with the calling party who advised that her husband was taken from her room and put in another room. The calling party was advised of this policy but insisted against it. Patrol was made aware of declined mental status of this party by her son-in-law over the phone. Patrol advised him of the situation, and he was understanding and stated he would speak with The Ambassador in regards. Prior to patrol's departure, a welfare check was conducted on the calling party's husband, and all was found in good order with him.

Help
On Dec. 17, police performed a welfare check of a Popham Rd. woman after her friend thought the friend’s breathing sounded labored during a phone call.

On Dec. 18, police helped a person get out of a stuck elevator in a Greenacres Ave. house.

Civil matter
On Dec. 21, a Clarence Rd. resident reported her landlord was at her location and would not leave. Upon arrival, police spoke with the resident who stated the landlord had just left the location. The resident stated that recently a home inspector found dangerous mold throughout the residence, and she reported the issue to the listed property owner. The resident stated that she let the landlord and the landlord’s daughter into the house to see the mold. The resident stated the landlord went on to take pictures of other areas of the residence, deny the presence of mold, and claim the tenant will be evicted on January 1. The resident stated this landlord then sat down and began using her computer and refused to leave.

Cars and roadways
On Dec. 16, police stood by at the site of a disabled car until a tow arrived to assist the driver.

Police called a tow for a disabled car on Popham Rd. Dec. 17.

A Sprague Rd. resident asked police to help block a driveway because a plumbing contractor had dug a trench in the driveway to do work, and the resident wanted to prevent any potential accidents Dec. 18.

Police removed fallen branches from Bypass Dec. 19.

A parked car with its lights illuminated on Leatherstocking Lane Dec. 20 was found to be occupied two people having a conversation.

On Dec. 21, a tree fell on Stratton Rd. Police notified the highway department for removal.
Six car accidents were reported in the Village this week.

Village code
On Dec. 16, police removed an illegally posted sign from Mamaroneck Rd. and disposed of it.
On Dec. 17, police spoke with a Kelywynne Rd. nanny because the family dog was outside barking. The nanny brought the dog inside.
On Dec. 18, police dispersed a food truck from the parking lot of a Saxon Woods Rd. building.
On Dec. 20, police removed an illegally posted sign from Catherine Rd. and disposed of it.

Lost and found
On Dec. 21, a cell phone and wallet were found at the Scarsdale train station. Police identified the owner and returned the property.

Firefighters
On Dec. 16, a Vanderbilt Rd. child accidentally got locked in a bedroom, and firefighters released the child unharmed.
Firefighters helped Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps with a Marjory Lane resident who fell at home and needed help Dec. 19.
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Weaver St. Dec. 19.
On Dec. 20, three dogs were accidentally locked inside a car on Greenacres Ave. Firefighters opened the door and released the dogs.
Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a burning transformer on Old Lyme Rd Dec. 21.
