Police Report: Cars Stolen from Brookby Road in Coordinated Heist: Thieves Escape Police Chase

On Sept. 24, at 4: 30 a,m., two cars were reported as stolen from a Brookby Rd. driveway and garage. During police investigation, police got sight of a third vehicle which proved to have been stolen from another jurisdiction, yet not reported as stolen. The suspects arrived in that vehicle before stealing the two cars from Brookby Rd. Police reported a temporary visual of the two stolen Brookby Rd. vehicle and attempted to follow the vehicles until it became unsafe to do so.
Arrest
On Sept. 23, Darion Joseph Terry, 27, of Yonkers, was arrested on charges of operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle with three or more suspensions within three months, and operation of a moving motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device. The arrest occurred after police observed Terry using his cellphone while driving on East Parkway. He was released on his own recognizance with a future court date.
Car break-ins
On Sept. 24, a Ferncliff Rd. resident reported that someone went through his parked car and stole a backpack containing a laptop computer.
Scams
A Birchall Dr. resident reported being the victim of a scam Sept. 26. The victim reported transferring a large sum of cash to an unknown person in a phone scam in which the person impersonated a police officer.
Disputes
On Sept. 24, a Post Rd. resident reported a dispute with an Uber driver. She stated she did not agree with the route the driver was taking, so she tried to direct him. At that point, she
stated the Uber driver became annoyed and said he would cancel the ride. The Uber driver, said that the passenger told him to make a U-Turn where he was not allowed and that the passenger became frustrated and said she would call Uber to report him. Both parties wished to just have the issue mediated with police. They went their separate ways while police were on scene.
Police mediated a verbal argument over parenting between Clarence Rd. parents Sept. 24.
A Clarence Rd. caller reported a dispute with a neighbor Sept. 25. The caller stated his neighbor requested he park in a different location than usual. He stated he did so and the neighbor was also dissatisfied with this. The caller stated he was no longer open to requests and would park where legally permitted. The caller stated on this morning, the neighbor yelled at his babysitter about where her car was parked. The caller also stated that the same party confronted his landscaper about where they had been placing leaves for collection. The caller was advised to cease any communication with the neighbor.
Package
On Sept. 25, a Normandy Lane resident reported she received a single crushed granola bar via UPS. Upon reviewing the shipping information on the package, she noticed that the tracking number was the same as an Amazon order that was placed on Sept. 9 for a household cleaning product. That item was still listed on Amazon as being out for delivery. Police advised the resident to contact Amazon and UPS regarding these incidents.
Garbage
A bag containing children’s shoes and socks was left near a Sheldrake Rd. house Sept. 26. Police discarded the bag as garbage.
Welfare check
Police conducted a welfare check at a Dell Rd. residence at the request of a Florida department of family services; however, no one was home Sept. 26.
Pedestrian struck
A 12-year-old boy was struck by a car while riding his bicycle at Heathcote Rd. and Palmer Ave. Sept. 22. The boy, a middle school student, went to the nurse’s office, and the school principal called police to report the incident. The boy said he saw the driver on his cell phone when the accident occurred. The driver never stopped when the accident occurred.
Disorderly conduct
Callers reported a group of approximately 10 teens acting disorderly on Fenimore Rd. Oct. 23. One caller stated that the teens pulled on her car door’s handles when she stopped her car to let the group cross the street. The alleged teens were gone from the area when police arrived on scene.
A Walworth Av. resident reported a person on a bicycle was screaming at him Sept. 24. He said the same person also screamed at his nanny the previous day. The person was gone from the scene when police arrived.
Library staff requested police help in escorting a library patron from the scene because the patron was acting in a disorderly manner Sept. 26.
Kids
Police stood by while a loud gathering of teens dispersed and many teens were picked up from Hanover Rd. Sept. 26.
A caller reported a small child running in the road at Richbell and Post roads Sept. 26. The child was reunited with his mother. She advised the child had climbed over a fence in the yard unbeknownst to the mother.

On Sept. 22, police issued a 26-year-old Mamaroneck driver summonses for speeding and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration following a traffic stop for speeding on Post Rd.
On Sept. 22, police notified the highway department about a fallen-down crosswalk sign on Popham Rd.
Police notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Carthage Rd. Sept. 22.
On Sept. 23, police issued a 60-year-old Beacon driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Popham Rd.
A fire department vehicle got into a car accident on Saxon Woods Rd. Sept. 24.
A street sign fell to the ground on Walworth Ave. Sept. 25. The highway department was notified for repair.
On Sept. 25, police issued a 28-year-old Granville driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operation of a motor vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop on Post Rd.
Patrol assisted a person in a wheelchair to safely navigate travel on Fenimore Rd. Sept. 25.
A traffic cone got lodged underneath a minivan on Freightway Rd. Sept. 25. Police assisted the driver in removing the cone.
On Sept. 26, police issued a 34-year-old White Plains driver a summons for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration following a traffic stop on Post Rd.
Police shut leaking water from a construction hose on Freightway Rd. Sept. 28.
Police notified Verizon about loose wires on Innes Rd. Sept. 28.
Four car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.
Village code
On Sept. 26, police removed an illegally posted sign from Mamaroneck Rd. and issued a summons as appropriate.
On Sept. 27, police removed an illegally posted sign from Pinecrest Rd. and issued a summons as appropriate.
On Sept. 28, police removed an illegally posted sign from Fenimore Rd. and issued a summons as appropriate.
Lost and found
A Cambridge Rd. resident reported losing a wallet somewhere in the Village Sept. 27.
On Sept. 27, a Continental Rd. resident reported losing a gold Rolex watch, possibly over a year ago. The watch was last seen in a locked jewelry box inside his house more than a year ago. He thinks the watch was lost during some travels. He does not think the watch was stolen.
An unattended black suitcase found in the Village was returned to its owner Sept. 27.
Animals
A loose dog was reunited with its owner on Kingston Rd. Sept. 26.
Firefighters
On Sept. 22, firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
A shower was leaking through a ceiling in a Greenacres Ave. house Sept. 22. Firefighters shut affected water pipes and electrical connections and advised to call a plumber.
On Sept. 22, firefighters investigated a reported gas odor on Heathcote Rd. They stood by for Con Edison.
On Sept. 23, a woman on Sycamore Rd. sustained burns to her hand from overheated cosmetic wax. Firefighters assisted EMS personnel.
On Sept. 24, firefighters assisted at a car accident on Weaver St.
A tree was on fire from contact with an electrical write on Crossway Sept. 24. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison while police blocked the roadway.
On Sept. 25, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a carbon monoxide monitor activation in a Meadow Rd. house.
On Sept. 26, firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Bronx River Parkway.
A gas meter was hissing on Mamaroneck Rd Sept. 27. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison.
On Sept. 28, firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Firefighters assisted EMS workers with a chair lift on Lyons Rd. Sept. 28.
