Police Report: Shoplifters Reported at CVS; Bikes Stolen from Depot Place

hall2Shoplifting: A CVS employee, from the store on Wilmot Road reported that two men shoplifted items from the store and left on foot Oct. 21. One was described a s a black man with short hair. The other was described as a Hispanic man with long hair. Both were wearing black hoodies and black pants.

Stolen
An e-bike valued at more than $1,000 was reported stolen from Depot Place Oct. 24.
A bicycle was reported stolen from Depot Place Oct. 25.

Damaged skateboard
After midnight, a caller reported that a driver drove over his skateboard on East Parkway and damaged it. The driver left the scene. Police contacted the driver’s parents. The driver’s father said he would pay for the damaged skateboard.

Identity theft and fraud
A Meadow Rd. man reported that someone used his Social Security number to do a credit check at an unknown Mercedes-Benz dealership without his permission Oct. 24.

On Oct. 25, a Continental Rd. resident reported being the victim of fraud. He said he was at a financial loss. No other information was provided in the report.

Disgruntled customer
Police went to a Scarsdale Ave. business because a customer, whose payment was declined for insufficient funds, was causing a disturbance Oct. 24. Police mediated the situation, and a successful transaction was eventually completed.

Suspicious
On Oct. 20, a Cooper Rd. resident reported that three men exited their vehicle and took pictures of the property on Oct. 18.

A Brookby Rd. man reported that his neighbor, who was away, informed him that three men with masks were walking around the neighbor’s property Oct. 20. Video surveillance captured the incident.

Mail
A Mamaroneck Rd. resident reported that an Asian woman driving a late model Volvo pulled into her driveway, exited the car and appeared to walk toward the resident’s mailbox. The resident thought it was suspicious and reported it. She also reported that mail had been stolen from her mailbox in the past.

A Herkimer Rd. resident alleged that his neighbor sprayed chemicals on trees at the property line that caused damage to the trees Oct. 20. He wrote an email to the neighbor requesting information about chemicals used.

A Dobbs Terrace woman reported an ongoing argument with a neighbor over an alleged barking dog that made her feel uncomfortable Oct. 21.

A Larch Lane father and son were arguing over money and called police Oct. 23. The son left the residence to cool down.

Help
A nurse requested a welfare check of a 76-year-old female Saxon Woods Rd. resident who was having trouble using her phone to book a medical appointment Oct. 20. The resident was in good condition, only having technical using her phone. Police provided assistance.

Cars and roadways
On Oct. 20, police issued a 30-year-old Mt. Vernon driver summonses for speeding, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and having an unregistered motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Post Rd.

A parking meter fell over due to deterioration from age on Chase Rd. Oct. 20. The highway department was informed for repair.

Work vehicles parked on River Rd. were asked to be moved to improve traffic flow Oct. 20.

Patrol notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Brite Ave. Oct. 21.

On Oct. 21, police issued a 44-year-old Brooklyn driver summonses for speeding, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Post Rd.

On Oct. 22, police issued a 60-year-old White Plains driver summonses for speeding, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operation of a motor vehicle with a restricted view following a traffic stop on Post Rd.

A branch was resting on wires on Woodland Place Oct. 22. Police notified Con Edison.

On Oct. 23, police issued a 33-year-old Bronx driver summonses for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and equipment violations following a traffic stop on Spencer Place.

The highway department was notified about a dead animal carcass on Murray Hill Rd., for removal, Oct. 24.

On Oct. 24, police issued a 40-year-old Yonkers driver summonses for speeding, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle with obstructed vision following a traffic stop on Mamaroneck Rd.

On Oct. 24, police issued a 45-year-old Bronx driver a summons for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration following a traffic stop on Mamaroneck Rd.

Animals
Police reunited a loose dog with its Fenimore Rd. owner and issued the owner a summons Oct. 21

Lost and found
On Oct. 21, a Dobbs Terrace resident reported losing her driver’s license somewhere in the Village.

Lost property found on Spencer Place was returned to its owner Oct. 24.

A man reported losing his brown tr-fold wallet on East Parkway Oct. 25.

Village code
Police removed illegally posted signs from Post Rd., Mamaroneck Rd. and Palmer Ave. and discarded them Oct. 24.

Police twice informed a Cornell St. resident that neighbors complained about loud music Oct. 24.

Firefighters
On Oct. 20, firefighters went to a Wynmor Rd. house for a report of a n stovetop that was not working. There, they found that water had been spilled on a stovetop, and the burners’ igniters were not working. The igniters would continually spark even after gas was ignited for proper use. Firefighters advised the resident to allow the igniters to dry out and to only use burners that were working properly in the meantime.

A grill caught fire and self-extinguished before firefighters arrived on Brookline Rd. Oct. 21.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at a Popham Rd. pizza shop Oct. 21. There, they found a refrigerator that had a shorted-out plug, with an extension cord attached to it. The cord had fallen into a mop bucket and shorted out. The smoke activated the smoke detector located in the nearby rear hallway of the building. Firefighters isolated the problem, advised on safe electrical use and reset the alarm system.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a Sage Terrace gas leak Oct. 22.

On Oct. 24, firefighters assisted at two unrelated car accidents on Mamaroneck Rd. and Fenimore Rd.

Firefighters shut down a heating unit in a Garden Rd. house due to a gas odor and advised to have a plumber evaluate the unit. For repairs Oct. 24.

Firefighters shut a water valve in an Aspen Rd. house at a broken sink, pending a repair by a plumber Oct. 24.

Con Edison advised that an electrician should be called to properly reattach a loose wire for house service at a Brookline Rd. house Oct. 25.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a Springdale Rd. gas leak Oct. 26.
