Bronx Driver Arrested and Man Found Lying Down on River Road

Arrested: On Nov. 28, police arrested Mario S. Fernandes, 62, of the Bronx, on charges of using a leased or rented car without an interlock device, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operation of a motor vehicle without insurance and operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver. Police arrested Fernandes after his car passed a police car, and police noticed the car was missing its license plates on Post Rd. Fernandes was released on his own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket for Village Justice court
Help
On Nov. 30, a caller reported finding an elderly black male laying on the ground on River Rd. The male got up and stated he got off at the wrong station and is looking for White Plains, but the caller stated the male is disoriented. The male was described as wearing black sweats, a Tampa Bay hat and a white beard. Police called Central Taxi to transport the man.
Disputes
On Nov. 25, A woman at Starbucks complained about the cost of a drink and caused disruption to the business. The manger called police. The woman left the store without permission.
On Nov. 28, a Larch Lane man reported he had an altercation with his brother. Police advised them to stay away from each other and cool down.
Pedestrian hit
On Nov. 24, a pedestrian was struck by a car at Palmer Ave. and Mamaroneck Rd.
A person on East Parkway reported that her foot was run over by a car Nov. 25. She was experiencing pain and swelling.
Cars and roadways
Sanitation was called to remove garbage in the roadway at Post Rd. Nov. 24.

The highway department was called to fill a pothole on Fenimore Rd. Nov. 26.
On Nov. 26, a Quentin Rd. resident reported he had an outstanding issue with EZ Pass that indicated he had open fees totaling more than $2,000. He surrendered his plates due to the violations on his registration caused by the open fees.
A Hickory Lane resident reported that an Amazon truck struck their house and left the scene Nov. 28.
Five car accidents were reported in the Village this week.
Lost and found
On Nov. 24, a Crossway resident reported losing a license plate somewhere in the Village.
On Nov. 28, two men reported losing a phone at Freightway Garage because the phone slid between a stairwell and a window. The phone fell into an electrical room, which was locked.

On Nov. 26, police found illegally posted signs and removed them from Brewster Rd.
On Nov. 28, police found illegally posted signs and removed them from Popham Rd.

In all incidents this week, Summonses were issued as appropriate.
Firefighters
On Nov. 25, firefighters turned off a heating unit on Tunstall Rd. and ventilated the house after elevated carbon monoxide was found in the house.
