Police Report: Stolen Package, Agressive Grandparents and Pedestrian Hit

Stolen package: A Brite Ave. woman reported that a package was delivered and then stolen from her front porch Aug. 7.

Identity theft and scams
On Aug. 4, an Overhill Rd. woman reported that she was nearly a victim of identity theft. Someone alleged to be calling from Capital One stating that there was a fraudulent charge on her account. She did not, however, have a Capital One card. The caller then attempted to obtain personal information by putting her on the line with alleged law enforcement. She realized it was a scam.

Harassment
A man reported that a woman drove away from Boniface Circle drunk at 1 a.m., Aug. 9. Police went to the woman’s house and found her outside the car. She claimed she did not drive the car but instead got a ride. She said the man who made the report was someone who was being a nuisance to her. He was described as a man she encountered in Hartsdale, where she works. She said she was annoying her and would not leave her alone.

Pedestrian hit
A pedestrian reported being struck by a car on Westchester County property at Fenimore Rd. and the Bronx River Parkway Aug.4.

Neighbors
A Ferncliff Rd. woman reported that she was concerned with possible chemicals being used by a neighbor’s power washing contractor Aug. 4. The contractor stated he was only using water.

On Aug. 6, a Fox Meadow Rd. resident complained that a neighbor’s driveway contractor damaged her driveway. The contractor agreed to repair it.

On Aug. 8, a Brewster Rd. Woman reports she feels uncomfortable because she alleged her neighbor was filming her from his side of the property. Police advised her there was nothing criminal in nature going on.

Civil matter
On Aug. 9, a divorced couple was having a custody disagreement about visitation times, when the ex-husband’s girlfriend called 911. Police helped the ex-couple mediate the dispute.

Cars and roadways
On Aug. 3, police removed a fallen branch from Saxon Woods Rd. and a fallen tree from Vernon Rd.
On Aug. 6, a Richbell rd. resident reported an unknown car entered her garage. The car belonged to the resident’s son. He dropped by unannounced. All was in good order.
On Aug. 6, police notified Verizon about a fallen wire on Brewster Rd.
A sinkhole on Magnolia Rd. was taped off in order to protect motorists and pedestrians, pending repair by the highway department, Aug. 7.
On Aug. 7, police removed fallen branches from Crane Rd. and Griffen Ave.
A stop sign fell on Murray Hill Rd. Aug. 8. Police put up a temporary stop sign.
On Aug. 8, police removed fallen branches from Mamaroneck Rd.
An erratic driver allegedly threw a water bottle at another motorist on Post Rd. Aug. 8.
Police notified Verizon about fallen wires on Ewart Rd. Aug. 9.
On Aug. 9, police removed a fallen tree from Birchall Dr.
This week, police issued summonses to four drivers for registration, insurance or licensing violations.
Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Kids and teens
A child called police alleging her grandparents were being “aggressive” Aug. 6. Police spoke with all involved parties and determined the child’s grandparents were using an “appropriate combination of guardianship and discipline regarding their granddaughter.”

Police dispersed noisy kids from a teen party on Walworth Ave. Aug. 6.

A kid was riding his bike on the high school track, possibly damaging it, Aug. 8. Police located the kid’s mother who was sitting nearby. She removed the bike from the track after police explained that bikes were prohibited on the track.

Animals
On Aug. 3, a Brook Ln. resident found an injured baby raccoon. She said she would turn it over to a rehabilitator.

On Aug. 5, an injured small animal got into an East Parkway business and died inside the location. Police helped store employees removed and dispose of the animal’s remains.

Village code
Police removed illegally posted signs from Rock Creek Lane Aug. 4, Fox Meadow Rd. Aug. 6 and Heathcote Rd. Aug. 9.

Lost and found
On Aug. 3, a Fayette Rd. woman reported losing her naturalization paperwork.

Two cell phones were found near a Fountain Terrace property Aug. 5.

Firefighters
On July 28, a Chesterfield Rd. resident started a car in her garage and caused an elevated level of carbon monoxide. Firefighters assisted with ventilation.

On July 30, firefighters helped lift a Quaker Ridge woman after she had fallen at home.

Power washing inside the Christie Place garage caused elevated CO levels. Firefighters ventilated and advised workers about safety July 31.

Firefighters ventilated a Montrose Rd. kitchen to reduce CO due to cooking without using an exhaust hood Aug. 1.

On Aug. 2, firefighters were dispatched to a car lockout at Scarsdale high school. Firefighters called a tow company to help open the car without causing damage.
