Police Report: House and Sanitation Yard Burglarized and Masked Men in Car

Burglary: On Sept. 7, s Pinecrest Rd. resident returned home from vacation and discovered his house had been burglarized while he was away. More than 40 items were reported stolen.

Criminal mischief and stolen gas cans were reported at the sanitation yard Sept. 11.

Scam
On Sept. 9, a resident received a call from someone who alleged that there was a warrant for her arrest and who then requested $25,000 to clear the warrant. The resident went to her bank to withdraw the money. The bank employee advised it was a scam, and the resident declined to send any money.

Possible casing
On Sept. 9, a Boniface Circle store employee reported that men were in the store possibly casing it. Another employee said she recognized one of the men from a former shoplifting episode.

Suspicious
At 5:15 a.m., Sept. 8, a Thornwood Pl. resident reported that a car pulled into her driveway. Then, a person exited and walked up the driveway until a motion light came on, at which point the person walked back down the driveway.

On Sept. 8, a man arrived at a Drake Rd. house and walked around the property. He told workers at the house that he was the real estate agent. The homeowner thought the explanation was strange because the previous real estate agent was a woman.

Homeless
On Sept. 8, a woman was reported to be sleeping in a bank vestibule on Chase Rd. Police spoke with her. She said she had business with the bank and fell asleep while waiting for it to open. Police advised her to conduct her business and leave the vestibule.

A homeless man was observed in a Popham Rd. parking lot Sept. 10. Later that day, the man was observed lying down on Boniface Circle, in front of a store. Police told him he could not lie down on the sidewalk and obstruct pedestrian traffic. The man went on his way.

Drone
On Sept. 11, a drone fell from the sky and landed on a Sherbrooke Rd. yard. It appeared to be damaged.

Disputes
Roommates residing on Secor Rd. were having a dispute on Sept. 9. One claimed the other pushed him to the ground. Police advised them to stay away from each other and consult with their "room and board" manager.

On Sept. 10, police mediated a dispute between a Lockwood Rd. resident and a paving company over the resident's inability to access her driveway.

Cars and roadways
On Sept. 8, a caller reported that two men wearing masks were sitting in a car in the Balducci's parking lot on Palmer Ave. Police went to the scene and investigated the car. No one was inside, but pull-on Halloween masks were covering both headrests.

A car was parked on Woods Ln., impeding paving work, Sept. 8. Highway workers and police towed the car to Forest Ln.

A driver reported that youth on e-bikes cut him off on Post Rd Sept. 8. The driver honked at the youth, who then followed the car and made gestures at the driver.

On Sept. 9, a Carthage Rd. resident showed police a note that had been placed on her parked car. The note asked the resident to park her car farther down the street. Police felt the note contained nothing suspicious.

A driver was sleeping in his car on Meadow Rd. at 5 p.m., Sept 9. The driver told police he was a nurse who had finished a long shift and needed to sleep before continuing to drive home.

Police notified Verizon about low-hanging wires on Walworth Ave. Sept. 10.

Roadways were flooding throughout the Village Sept. 13.

This week, police issued summonses for registration and/or licensing violations to three drivers following traffic stops in the Village.

Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Village code
Police removed illegally posted signs from Walworth Ave. Sept. 8 and Mamaroneck Rd. Sept. 10.

The sanitation department reported illegal dumping at the sanitation shed Sept. 11.

Neighbors complained of noise on Harcourt Rd. Sept. 12. Police asked a resident to lower the volume of music being played. Two hours later, the music was loud again, so police returned and issued a summons.

Animals
On Sept. 9, police reunited a dog with its Fox Meadow Rd. owners.

On Sept. 12, a Griffen Ave. resident reported seeing a limping coyote.

A dog was off leash on a Brewster Rd. field Sept. 12. Police spoke with the owner and advised him to put the leash back on the dog.

Lost and found
On Sept. 8, a resident on Rodney Rd. reported that his garbage can was missing. Police looked around the property and found the can in the backyard.

On Sept. 9, a Brittany Close resident reported that she turned in a car and lost her car's license plates in the process.

A resident came to headquarters Sept. 9 and reported losing license plates during a car accident about two months ago.

A debit card was found on East Parkway Sept. 12.

Firefighters
Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas odor on Spier Rd. Sept. 8.

Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Walworth Ave. Sept. 9.

A breaker was tripping on Brown Rd. Sept. 9. Firefighters checked the air conditioner that was using the breaker. It did not show obvious signs of water intrusion or malfunction. Firefighters advised calling an electrician.

Firefighters opened a Mohican Trail house for a teen resident accidentally locked outside Sept. 9.

A transformer was popping and arcing on Post Rd. Sept. 9. Firefighters stood by for Con Edison.

Firefighters helped retrieve keys that fell into a storm basin on Boniface Rd. Sept. 13.
