On Tuesday January 6th, the Scarsdale Raiders men’s basketball team returned to action for the first time in 2026 with a matchup against the Pelham Pelicans at SHS. The game was back and forth all four quarters with Scarsdale leading at the bottom of the fourth with a score of 53-51. Unfortunately for the home team, with just 4.9 seconds left on the clock, Pelham's Ty James hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Pelham to a 54-53 victory.
Though Pelham had a 21-18 lead, the game was close at the half. Down 36-27 at the end of the 3rd quarter, it looked like a big hill for the ‘Ders to climb. Scarsdale fought back eventually taking a 48-47 lead with about a minute left, their first lead since the second quarter.
Scarsdale was led by senior Jason Ling who had 18 points including some clutch
3 pointers in the 4th quarter.
Senior Jason Ling was Scarsdale’s leading point scorer
Pelham was led by sophomore Ty James who made 17 points including the game winner at the buzzer.
Scarsdale had great shooting overall and showed real determination, fighting back after working themselves into a hole earlier in the game. Unfortunately the score did not reflect their comeback and Scarsdale lost on a last second prayer thrown from the top of the key. Scarsdale falls to 1-7 and will return to action on Wednesday against Horace Greeley.
