Enterprising SHS Senior Hosts Podcast

CacheAnya Nagpal, a senior at Scarsdale High School, has launched two social entrepreneurial platforms – CACHE, a podcast targeting young women; Infinite Horizons, an online platform supporting kids with ADHD and their caregivers. Anya was awarded two grants by Scarsdale Schools Education Foundation (SSEF) under Social Entrepreneurs program to grow and scale these ventures.

Here's some information about her podcasts with professional women:

Tell us about CACHE:

I am the founder, creator and host of CACHE, a podcast dedicated to offering advice to young women in high school and college.

What inspired you to start a podcast? Is there anyone who encouraged or supported you in the process?

Gender stereotypes often discourage women from seeking information and exploring diverse career paths. Moreover, the stress and pressure of juggling professional commitments and family responsibilities can take a toll on women’s financial and mental wellbeing. My personal interactions with many successful professional women, who defy workplace stereotypes while skillfully balancing their dual responsibilities, inspired me to launch my podcast. The podcast offers young women advice on adopting a holistic approach to building a successful career.

I am grateful to the guests who have joined me on my podcast and my parents for their support. A special shout-out to my brother, who continues to support me in editing the episodes before I publish them.

What is the main message you hope to convey with your podcast?

CACHE stands for Career Advice for College and High School Enthusiasts. I focus on three key topics relevant to my target segment: Career options, financial literacy and mental wellness. CACHE’s mission is to empower young women to make informed decisions and embrace a holistic approach to building a successful and fulfilling career.

What sort of guests have you had on your podcast? What made these guests intriguing to you?

On the podcast, I invite professional women from diverse backgrounds across industries such as medicine, human resources, education, legal, marketing, finance, etc. to share their personal experiences and career journeys. Through genuine conversations, I am able to blend career insights on diverse career paths, networking, and work-life balance with discussions on personal finances and mental wellness, recognizing the interconnected nature of these components in shaping a well-balanced and fulfilling academic, professional and personal life. Navigating professional advancement while balancing family responsibilities and making thoughtful life choices to achieve a well-rounded and fulfilling career makes my guests true role models.

Has any guest left you with profound advice?

The podcast has been an incredible learning experience for me. One of the most impactful pieces of advice came from a guest who emphasized the idea of ‘progress over perfection.’ I often incorporate valuable lessons from my guests’ experiences into my own life and encourage others to do the same.

Do you hope to continue the podcast after school?

Yes, most certainly – I have plans to continue to grow and scale the podcast after high school. CACHE is currently published on Spotify (Video version) and on Apple podcast (audio only). I have many interesting things planned over the next 12 months and beyond, including creating a new website, developing a library of resources, and introducing new content in podcast discussions.
