Thanksgiving is over but Chanukah and Christmas celebrations are upon us. Take note of these two holiday happenings in Scarsdale: Ho, Ho, Ho! Santa will be stopping again through Scarsdale to pick up letters from good girls and boys. Santa's mailboxes will be located by the Chase Bank on East Parkway, the Post Office on Chase Road, in front of Metro Deli on Palmer Ave and the Scarsdale Village Hall beginning Monday, December 2nd. The deadline for submitting letters is Monday, December 16th. Santa will be looking forward to receiving your letters.
On Friday December 6, you're invited to the annual lighting of the holiday tree in Boniface Circle. Musical festivities begin throughout the Village center around 4:00, presented by the Hoff-Barthelson carolers. Lange's will be firing up the grill to provide s'mores and hot chocolate; and Imagine Candy provides candy canes to all the children. At 5:00 PM, Santa arrives to help the children and the Mayor count down to the tree lighting. Santa will then greet each child and hear his or her holiday wishes. All are invited to attend and share in the holiday spirit at this community event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
The Scarsdale Police Benevolent Association is conducting its annual "Toys for Tots Drive" starting on November 29th. The collection drive will continue through December 18, 2013. The drop off location will be at Scarsdale Police Department Headquarters lobby on Fenimore Road. All toys must be new and unwrapped. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.
