Robbie Keltz and Danni Hyman
Prom is inescapable – each afternoon Facebook newsfeeds swarm with new promposal pictures and videos. Dress shops are clearing out, makeup artists are booking up. For those who have yet to find a date, the pressure can be stifling. With all this being said, no one should be taking any aspect of prom too seriously. The evening is just about high school students shamelessly dancing – or at least awkwardly congregating around the obligatory high-school-dance bowl of untouched fruit punch – and celebrating the end to high school. Prom is not the end-all-be-all, or the alpacalypse, for that matter. (See below for more alpalca puns!)
Here you have it – a collection of Scarsdale's brightest "promposers:"
Civ Ed advisors Robbie Keltz and Danni Hyman are featured after Danni was guided to a window to see her Civ Ed freshmen forming "Prom?" with their bodies. Seniors across the school reluctantly acknowledge: Freshmen are finally good for something!
Melissa Polin unassumingly drove up to her house to find Andrew Pollack serenading her. The "wildcat" reference on the poster is because both Andrew and Melissa will be attending colleges with wildcat mascots; They are going to Northwestern University and Villanova University, respectively.
Hannah Wolloch was driven around Scarsdale to visit significant places in her and Charlie Rubin's relationship. Then, Charlie and his friends got together to reenact the infamous proposal scene from The Office, a favorite show of the couple.
One afternoon, the reading of a W. B. Yeats poem was disturbed when Marco Paternoster busted into his and Paige Selber's AT English class, bringing with him flowers and a chain of friends carrying the poster letters to spell The Question. He sang Marvin Gaye's "Let Get It On," but changed the words to sing "Let's Go To Prom." He's a creative one! Will Manson took to graffiti to ask Sabrina Kaune to prom, and made this epic design in the middle of the woods. Maia Scacchi found Daniel DeCastro holding a sign with the other taxi drivers as she exited the airport looking for her ride. Thomas Cooke dressed up Ali Kass’ dogs in mini tuxedos and presented posters with pictures of the couple through the years. Too bad the dogs can’t come to the dance, too… Cameron Swift passed the lacrosse practice and was surprised to find music blasting and Casey Kravit and his whole team doing a dance number. His poster read: “Cami, will you dance with me at prom?” She’s got tough competition – those lacrosse boys have got some good moves! Andy Fite killed it with the pun (his sign said: I’ll Alpaca My Bags If You Don’t Go To Prom With Me) when he brought Emily Berkowitz to Faraway Farms in Yorktown to enjoy some interesting wildlife, and an alpaca-filled promposal. Jonny Augarten dressed up as a character from The Office and promposed to Kelly Minster with a great quote from one of her favorite episodes. Frank Britto whipped out flowers and a poster during his history class when he promposed to Chrissy Gobes. He used a pun to reference that they will both be attending Lehigh University next year.
