The Photography of Corky Lee at Scarsdale Library

Corky LeeCome to the Scarsdale Library on Sunday June 23, 2024 to celebrate the life and work of Corky Lee who captured and explored the nuances and richness of Asian American life in the United States through his photographs. He described his life mission as a campaign to “Change America one photograph at a time,” to correct historical inaccuracies, fight stereotypes, injustice & celebrate the everyday struggles and accomplishments of AAPI communities. Active from the 1970s through to his death during the COVID-19 pandemic, Lee was present to document key events in Asian American history and to advocate for change and equality in New York City.

In partnership with OCA-WHV and the Corky Lee Estate, examples of Lee's photography will be present in exhibition during a talk on his life and achievements.

Copies of the book Corky Lee's Asian America: Fifty Years of Photographic Justice will be available to purchase after the event. Refreshments will be served.
