Police Report: Housekeeper Accused of Stealing Items Worth More than $1,000 and a Broken Water Main in Greenacres

Stolen: On Dec. 27, a Richbell Road resident accused a housekeeper of stealing items from the household in the past. The valued of the reported stolen items totaled more than $1,000.
Yonkers police asked for assistance in locating a stolen car that was pinging a location address near Carstensen Road Dec. 27. Police searched for the car but were unable to find it.
On Dec. 27, police pursued a car that pinged with a stolen license plate, as the car passed a police car with an activated license plate reader at Heathcote Road and Palmer Avenue Dec. 27. Police pursued the car into New Rochelle, where it fled in the direction of the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Identity theft and fraud
On Dec. 27, the Village of Scarsdale received a fraudulent change of direct deposit request from someone posing as a Village employee.
On Dec. 27, a Secor Road resident reported she issued and mailed a check from a public mailbox, but it was never received by the intended payee. She learned that the check had been stolen, altered and fraudulently cashed for $2,355.10.
On Dec. 27, a Spier Road resident reported that she identified fraudulent charges from the Stub Hub ticket platform on her credit card.
A Lockwood Road resident reported unauthorized charges on her Citibank debit card Dec. 28.
Cyber attack
A Crossway resident reported he was the victim of a ransom-ware attack on his computer server, which he uses for personal and business use, and he wanted to document the incident for insurance purposes Dec. 30. According to the resident, the ransom-ware caused the resident to not be able to access some files, and as a result, his IT technician paid $2,500 to the ransom-ware perpetrator.
Assistance
On Dec. 27, police collected a pile of newspapers from a Morris Lane porch and placed them at the front door mailbox, as a safety precaution.
On Dec. 29, police collected a pile of newspapers from a Secor Road porch and placed them at the front door mailbox, as a safety precaution.
Suspicious
An unknown person wearing a mask and gloves was observed walking around a Carstensen Road property via a doorbell camera Dec. 29. Upon investigation, police determined that the person worked for a pest control company. The homeowner confirmed that she had hired pest control services. She said she would confirm employee activity with the company.
An employee said she arrived at a Broadmoor Road house, at which she works, and noticed a man in the area taking photos of the house. It was reported at 1:51 a.m., Jan. 1.
Cars and roadways
On Dec. 27, a tree fell on wires at Murray Hill and Cooper roads. Police notified the highway department and Con Edison.
Patrol reset a traffic light that was flashing at the intersection of Post and Sherbrooke roads Dec. 27.
The highway and water departments were notified about a water condition on Fairview Court Dec. 27. Firefighters and police traced the water to a burst water pipe in a Fairview Road house. They cut power and water to the house and advised the homeowners, who were out of the country.
A car’s axle snapped and became disabled, with its front wheels pointed in opposite directions, at Post and Edgewood roads Dec. 27.
Police called a tow for the car to be moved.
Police notified Verizon about fallen wires on Black Birch Lane Dec. 28 and 29.
A water leak on Brewster Road was reported the water and highway departments Dec. 28.
Police moved a fallen tree limb off of Bypass Jan. 1.
On Jan. 1, police informed a house employee of parking restrictions on Secor Road.
Animals
Police contacted New Rochelle Humane Society about a loose dog found without a leash or collar at Post Road and Wayside Lane Dec. 28.
On Jan. 1, police removed a dead cat from Post and Dickel roads. It appeared to be a stray.
Village code
On Dec. 31, a caller complained of construction work occurring outside of designated hours on Saxon Woods Road Dec. 31. Police notified workers of Village code, and the workers stopped the job to wait for permitted hours.
Lost and found
A Park Road resident found air pods on his property and brought them to police, as they did not belong to him or his family Dec. 27.
On Dec. 28, an Ogden Road woman reported losing two license plates.
On Dec. 29, a Lawrence Road resident reported losing two license plates.
Firefighters
On Dec. 26, firefighters turned off water to two broken pipes in a Myrtledale Road house. They informed the resident.
Firefighters assisted the water department and residents with problems caused by a broken water main at Franklin Road and Penn Blvd Dec. 26.
Firefighters shut water and power to lessen damage from a broken water pipe in a kitchen ceiling in a Colvin Road house Dec. 26.
On Dec. 26, water was leaking through ceilings on the first floor and basement of a Colvin Road house. Firefighters shut down the water supply and shut appliances at risk.
A range cooktop igniter was sparking in a Sage Terrace house Dec. 27. Firefighters shut down gas and power to the range and stood by for Con Edison.
On Dec. 27, firefighters shut water and power to a Fairview Road house experiencing a leak from broken water pipes.
On Dec. 28, a water supply link to a basement toilet in an Overhill Road house broke. Firefighters shut off water to the house and helped to drain collected floodwater. They shut electrical power to submerged appliances.
On Dec. 31, firefighters and police helped a Russian-speaking house sitter gain access to the house she was watching on Oneida Road, after she accidentally locked herself outside.
On Dec. 29, firefighters helped emergency medical technicians get inside a Tompkins Road house to help a person in distress.
On Dec. 29, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak at a barbecue grill at a Cooper Road house.
Water was shut down at Colvin Road and Greenacres Avenue to mitigate a flooding condition caused by a broken water main that was affecting residents’ properties and garages Dec. 31. Assistance included pumping water out of the flooded area to prevent it from overflowing into basement windows.
An oven fire was contained in the oven and self extinguished in a Canterbury Road house Dec. 31.

Police Report: Stolen Packages Target iPhones and Holiday Gifts Plus Cold Bursts Water Pipes

Kudos to the Scarsdale Village Ambulance Corps who sent an ambulance crew to Buffalo on December 28, 2022 to assist with the snowstorm emergency at the request of Erie County. They anticipate a seven day deployment of one ambulance and two paramedics.
A Leatherstocking Lane resident reported three packages marked as “delivered” were stolen from her Dec. 22. The packages contained a $1,100 iPhone 14 Pro Max, a $96 digital camera and $137 worth of Birkenstock footwear. The resident further stated that she saw a UPS trick drive up in front of her house, scan packages inside the truck and fail to exit the truck to deliver the packages. Police advised her to report the matter to the UPS corporate office.
On Dec. 23, a Crossway resident reported that a FedEx driver delivered two packages, each supposedly containing an iPhone 14 Pro Max. A Ring doorbell camera showed the delivery of the packages – one was in a box, which appeared to be sealed, and the other was in an envelope which appeared to have been opened and folded shut. The resident’s wife signed for the packages upon delivery. However, when the resident opened the packages, one iPhone was missing. The resident contacted Walmart, which was the vendor, and FedEx, but neither offered to compensate the resident for the missing phone.
On Dec. 24, a Saxon Woods Road resident reported a package valued at $70, and delivered from Target, was stolen from the resident’s doorstep.
Arrests
On Dec. 21, police observed a red pick-up truck pass through a stop sign on Boulevard. Police conducted a traffic stop and realized the driver – George F Thompson, Jr., 31, of Yonkers – was wanted on an active bench warrant issued out of Yonkers. Police then arrested Thompson on the strength of the bench warrant and also on the charges of failure to stop at a stop sign, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway. Following his arrest, Thompson was turned over to Yonkers police.
On Dec. 23, around 6:40 a.m., police responded to East Parkway on the report of man who might be in in need of assistance. There, they encountered and interviewed Nicholas Greco, 38, of Bronxville. Investigation revealed that Greco was wanted by Eastchester police on an active bench warrant for burglary charges. Police arrested Greco, and Greco was turned over to the Eastchester police department.
Burglary
On Dec. 23, a Stonewall Lane house was burglarized. Police learned of the event after an alarm sounded. Investigation of the house determined unlawful entry had been made, and the master bedroom had been ransacked. Property and at least $100 cash were stolen.
Stolen car
A Wayside Lane resident reported her car, containing her house key, was stolen from Long Island Dec. 25. She asked police to check her house to make sure it was in good order.
Criminal mischief
A driver said his 2022 Audi was tampered with while parked at an electric charging station at Freightway Garage Dec. 19. Police observed damage to the car.
Identity theft
On Dec. 22, a Lawrence Road woman reported that an American Express gift card was used to make a fraudulent purchase without her permission. The card was issued on Dec. 2, 2021 and allegedly used to purchase unknown goods on Nov. 25, 2022.
A Dunham Road man reported that someone hacked his food delivery app and ordered food without his permission. He spoke with the vendor who was going to provide him with a full refund.
Domestic matter
A Cooper Road caller asked for help with a “verbal altercation with her sister that turned physical” Dec. 22. The sister allegedly pushed a door into the caller. There were allegedly six adults home at the time of the altercation. Police responded to the scene and mediated issues between the siblings. It was determined that no physical contact was made. The sisters agreed to avoid each other until they can sit down and discuss their matters at a later time.
Death
An 83-year-old Saxon Woods Road woman died at home, in her assisted living facility, Dec. 19. The cause of her death was natural causes.
Air tag
An Elm Road girl received a notification on her phone that she was being tracked via an “air tag” Dec. 21. The girl said she did not own an Air Tag device and was therefore concerned. Additionally, the girl reported that several fake social media accounts had been created in her name without her consent. Police advised the family to contact Apple to disable and air tag tracking associated with the account.
Missing items
On Dec. 19, a Richbell Road woman reported that a cleaning woman, whom she hired about a month ago, was moving items within the house and possibly stealing things. The woman said she was not concerned with the value of the items because they were “sentimental items.” She would not provide police with the alleged cleaning woman’s name. She said she wanted to speak to a detective later, when her husband was present.
Suspicious
An East Parkway bank manager reported seeing a man lingering on the sidewalk outside her window and looking in her window Dec. 22. The man left the area when the manager left the bank and, to her knowledge, never entered the bank. She reported the incident due to recent incidents involving skimming devices and hidden surveillance cameras being placed inside the bank.
Help
A caller asked police to check the welfare of a Lebanon Road resident Dec. 19. Police made contact with an attorney via the resident’s doorbell camera. The attorney said the resident passed away in June of this year and the house was in good order. Police informed the caller of the situation.
At 11:20 p.m., Dec. 21, a Johnson Road woman was worried about her husband because he was expected to arrive home, via a train from Grand Central Station, and he was not answering his phone. Police located the man who said he was en route to his house.
Police collected newspapers and a package strewn about outside a Hanover Road house and placed them near the front door, in a location that was not visible from the road, Dec. 25.
Bank error
A caller reported having trouble with a bank ATM on Wilmot Road Dec. 22. She said the ATM “froze” and malfunctioned after she deposited cash and a check. Police helped the caller contact a bank representative to correct the error.
Civil matter
A Greenacres Avenue resident reported that a neighbor’s tree cutting crew came onto her lawn without her permission Dec. 21. Police suggested that the neighbor and the resident open lines of communication to discuss work being done on or near the property line to avoid potential incidents.
On Dec. 21, a man reported that his ex-wife violated a custodial agreement last night and would not let him see his son. Police determined the agreement was a verbal agreement and not court-ordered. Police advised the man to follow up in family court.
Pedestrian struck
A 2021 Jeep struck a pedestrian who was legally in the crosswalk of East Parkway and Popham Road Dec. 22. The pedestrian reported arm pain but was alert and conscious. He also reported that his umbrella and airpods were damaged as a result of the accident. He refused medical attention.
Cars and roadways
A car was dropped off at Edgewood School and left there overnight Dec 18 into Dec. 19. Police contacted the owner who said the car’s battery died and that her son would come to jump start the car and retrieve it. Police reminded her that no one was permitted on school grounds after dark.
Police asked a driver to move a truck that was blocking traffic on Crane Road and Woodland Place Dec. 19.
Police checked on debris outside a Boulevard house Dec. 19. The resident confirmed it was garbage and could be thrown out by the sanitation department.
Police notified the highway department about a fallen branch on Mamaroneck Road Dec. 19.
A tow truck removed a disabled car from Popham and Chase roads Dec. 19.
A car parked in Freightway Garage was observed with the passenger door fully open after midnight Dec. 20. Police could not determine if anything was missing, and they closed the door.
Patrol stood by while a mechanic changed a flat tire on Post Road Dec. 20. Patrol later stood by while another disabled car was towed from Post Road that same day.
A large SUV was not fully pulled into a parking space on Scarsdale Avenue, making it difficult for traffic to pass behind it Dec. 20. Police contacted the owner to move the SUV.
A water main broke on Garth Road Dec. 20. The water department was notified.
Police received many calls about a woman walking on the roadway on Weaver Street and Heathcote Road Dec. 20 and 21.
A caller complained about cars parked too close to a Freightway Road building in an alleyway Dec. 22. Police explained that the cars were parked on private property and not on public streets. The caller was not satisfied with the reply and said he would speak with Village Hall. Police advised him to speak with the building owner and not Village Hall.
On Dec. 22, police conducted a traffic stop after observing a 29-year-old Bronx driver pass through a red light at Popham and Chase roads. A computer check showed that the driver’s license was suspended. Multiple summonses were issued. The driver parked and secured his car on East Parkway and took a train to return home to the Bronx.
Con Edison was called to address a fallen wire on Boulder Brook Road Dec. 23.
A Village tree fell on Carstensen Road Dec. 23, knocking into a resident’s gate, pulling down wires and blocking the roadway. Con Edison and highway workers were called to address the matter.
On Dec. 24, a Lyons Road resident reported that sewage was backing up into her house. The highway department was notified.
Frozen pipes were reported at the highway department building on Ramsey Road Dec. 24.
On Dec. 24, police notified Verizon about a low-hanging wire on Corell Road.
The water department was notified about a water main break affecting Penn Blvd. and Franklin and Stratton roads.
Dogs
After a neighbor complained of loud barking, police asked a Cohawney Road dog owner to bring the dog in for the night Dec. 19.
Lost and found
On Dec. 20, a credit card was found outside at East Parkway and Christie Place. Police vouchered it for safekeeping.
On Dec. 23, a suitcase found on East Parkway was collected and vouchered for safekeeping by police.
Firefighters
On Dec. 19, firefighters assisted at a car accident at Post and Fenimore roads.
On Dec. 20, firefighters assisted at a car accident at Boulder Brook and Saxon Woods roads.
On Dec. 20, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak on Fairview Road.
On Dec. 21, a broken steam pipe released steam into a Madison Road basement. A caller mistook the steam for smoke and called firefighters to investigate.
A dumpster filled with construction debris caught fire on Richbell Road Dec. 21. Because the source of the fire was so deep in the dumpster, firefighters needed to use a deck gun at low pressure to fill the dumpster with water to extinguish most of the fire. Then, firefighters opened a rear door of the dumpster to remove some debris and continue attacking the deep source of the cooling fire with an attack line. Once the fire was fully extinguished, firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to confirm that the fire was completely out. Firefighters continued to empty debris from the dumpster to overhaul it.
On Dec. 21, firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak on exterior piping at a Fairview Road house.
A chemical odor was reported on Ridgedale Road Dec. 21. It was traced to a fire pit. Firefighters advised the homeowner to safely extinguish the fire.
On Dec. 22, Con Edison red tagged a malfunctioning boiler in a Rochambeau Road house.
Firefighters reported to Con Edison a fallen tree limb resting on wires on Heathcote Road Dec. 22.
Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak in a Greenacres Avenue house Dec. 23.
On Dec. 23, firefighters were dispatched to a Spencer Place restaurant for a reported interior gas odor. The manager stated that the odor was concentrated around a gas-fired water heater, which he turned off after smelling gas. Firefighters and Con Edison checked the water heater and determined it to be malfunctioning. Con Edison red-tagged the water heater for repair. Further investigation of the building detected gas readings at the basement foundation wall, which were caused by four propane tanks stored in a basement closet. The building manager was advised to remove the tanks.
On Dec. 23, firefighters were called to a Fox Meadow Road house for reported smoke inside the house. It was caused by a flue remaining closed in the fireplace. Firefighters opened the flue, ventilated the house and advised the homeowner on proper fireplace usage.
On Dec. 24, boiler exhaust condensate froze outside a Ramsey Road building. Firefighters advised the Village on how to address the matter so it does not continue to occur.
On Dec. 24, firefighters assisted Greenville fire department with a partially extinguished chimney fire.
On Dec. 25, firefighters investigated smoke coming from a chimney at Fox Meadow School. There, they found malfunctioning boilers and shut them down, as the smoke odor indicated there was incomplete diesel combustion. While on scene, Con Edison detected a malfunctioning kitchen range, shut it down and red-tagged it.
On Dec. 25, a frozen sprinkler pipe broke in a Cayuga Road house. Firefighters shut off the water and contacted the homeowner.

A pipe leading to an outdoor sprinkler at a Griffen Avenue house froze and broke Dec. 25. The pipe was spraying water into the backyard and did not seem to be infiltrating the interior of the house. Firefighters and police attempted to contact the homeowner but were unsuccessful.
On Dec. 25, water was observed near a basement window of a Brewster Road house. Police contacted the homeowner who said arrangements were being made to address the situation. Police and firefighters asked the highway department to salt the roadway near the pooling water.
On Dec. 25, water was leaking from a Brewster Road garage. Firefighters entered the garage and turned off the water. They notified the homeowner about the situation.
On Dec. 25, firefighters shut off water in the Saxon Woods Golf Clubhouse, on Mamaroneck Road, after a leak was detected due to burst pipes and a lack of heat.
Water was leaking from an interior sprinkler system in a Griffen Avenue clubhouse Dec. 25. Firefighters isolated and shut down water pipes and performed salvage work in the clubhouse dining room.
Firefighters isolated a water leak and shut down pipes in a Mamaroneck Road house Dec. 25.
On Dec. 25, a Montrose Road house filled with smoke from a Duraflame log that was emitting an excessive amount of smoke. Firefighters extinguished the fire and moved the artificial logs outside. Firefighters examined the fireplace and found it to be very dirty with a buildup of creosote. Firefighters ventilated the house and advised the residents to inspect the chimney before using it again.
On Dec. 25, firefighters addressed a burst pipe in a Brewster Road garage.

Police Ask for Information on Bank Thefts

Thefts at Chase Bank: Greenburgh Police are asking for information about two incidents that occurred outside Chase Banks, one on December 14 and one on November 7, 2022.
According to the report, around 11:45 am on Wednesday December 14 a large amount of cash was stolen from a customer in the Chase Bank Parking lot at 353 North Central Avenue.
A female customer exited the bank and got into her car. She was approached by an “unknown Hispanic woman” who motioned for the woman to roll down her car window. The Hispanic woman told the victim that there were several nails underneath her rear tires. The victim got out of the car and collected several nails that had been placed under her tires.
When she got back into the car and driving out of the parking lot, she realized that an envelope containing a large amount of case had been stolen.
Police report that a “similar distraction type larceny” occurred at another Chase Bank in Greenburgh on November 7, 2022. They are asking anyone with any information regarding these incidents to contact the Greenburgh Police Detective Division at 914-989-1725.
Stolen Cars
At 1:50 am on December 7, a Lebanon Road man was awoken by a loud noise. He looked outside and saw that his 2020 BMW X5, valued at $45,000, was being driven away. It had been parked in front of Tesla in the driveway. The thief struck the Tesla and drove over the front lawn to escape with the car.
The Avis rental car agency on Scarsdale Avenue reported that two rental cars had not been returned in over a month. One car had not been rented out of Scarsdale’s jurisdiction, and the issue was thus referred to another agency.
Car break-ins
A Cushman Road woman reported that someone attempted to enter one of her parked vehicles in her driveway at 1:20 a.m., Dec. 7., but the car was locked. The suspect allegedly left the scene in a black BMW.
Criminal mischief
On Dec. 8, an Elm Road driver reported his 2011 Mazda’s rear bumper had been vandalized on Scarsdale Avenue.
Death
A 79 year-old woman who lived on Dell Road was found unresponsive at 6 pm on December 5, 2022. She was pronounced dead by SVAC and the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted.
DWI
On Dec. 11, policed arrested Michael Magagnin, 33, of Yonkers, on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), refusal to take a breath test, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding in zone. Police conducted a traffic stop of Magagnin’s car after it was observed speeding on Post Road. At that time, officers noticed signs of intoxication and arrested Magagnin. He was released on his own recognizance with an appearance ticket of Scarsdale Village Justice Court.
Scam and fraud
On Dec. 5, a Berkeley Road woman reported that someone claiming to be a NYPD detective called her and asked questions. The woman confirmed her address before suspecting it was a scam.
On Dec. 8, a Birchall Drive caller reported she was a victim of fraud after her bank informed her that a fake check, for over $9,778.17, had been cashed against her account. Forgery and Grand Larceny
Same address
On Dec. 10, a Greenacres Avenue man reported receiving a letter from the DMV in regard to a person with a suspended license claiming to have the same address as the Greenacres Avenue man. The man needed police report to file a report with the DMV.
Domestic matters
On Dec. 6, an Edgewood Road woman reported her husband was screaming at her, Police arrived and found the husband and wife in separate rooms. They confirmed that they had had a verbal disagreement over personal issues. They agreed to stay away from each other.
A person at a Clarence Road address called 911 and later called back to say everything was fine Dec. 7. Police went to the house and encountered a boyfriend who reported having a verbal argument with his girlfriend. The boyfriend said he feigned to call 911 during the argument, to get his girlfriend to stop throwing his clothes. He said she then agreed to leave to stay with a family member while he planned to pack his clothes. She told police she was not returning until he left.
Wrong address
A dumpster was incorrectly delivered to the wrong Wynmor Road address Dec. 5. The contractor made arrangements to have it picked up and redelivered to the correct address.
Welfare check
A woman called police to say she picked up an elderly man who was hitchhiking and gave him a ride to a Catherine Road address Dec. 7. Police checked on the man by going to his house. It appeared that everything was in order although the man did not open the door.
Help
A Ridgecrest West woman asked police to help her move a Christmas tree from blocking the entrance to a lower level exit door Dec. 8.
Civil matters
A Birchall Drive resident reported movers damaged his house while moving furniture Dec. 10. He asked police to document the incident. z
Police stood by while the manager of a Christie Place establishment worked out an agreement with a customer who was refusing to pay a bill for a party that had been contractually agreed upon Dec. 10.
Cars and roadways
On Dec. 5, police assisted a driver in pushing a disabled car out of the road on Greenacres Avenue.
Police called a tow for a disabled car on Tompkins Road Dec. 6.
On Dec. 7, police responded to Walworth Avenue because a resident claimed construction vehicles blocked in her car. Allegedly, a worker told the resident, “You should have left earlier, “ when she asked him to move the vehicle away from her driveway. Police helped the resident maneuver her car out of the driveway.
Police issued a summons to the owner of a parked car blocking a Gaylor Road driveway Dec. 7.
Police informed water department about a leaking valve at Walworth Avenue and Colvin Road Dec. 8.
Police stopped RT Vasquezalleyne of Brooklyn on the Post Road at Fenimore Road at 3:23 pm on 12/8. He was driving a moped and changed lanes without signaling. Upon investigation, police determined that Vasquezalleyne had no license, no helmet and no face shield. He was charged with changing lanes unsafely as well. The moped also had no registration plate.Police issued a summons to a driver of a motorcycle who did not have a valid registration plate, after the motorcycle was spotted on Post Road Dec. 8.
A female driver, who stopped in a Boulevard parking lot, reported a man was following her, Dec. 8. Police spoke with him, and he identified himself as a private investigator. The woman told police she believed the man is a worker’s comp investigator.
Police advised a tree-trimming worker to use a flagger to divert traffic around their work zone on Popham Road Dec. 9.
Tree-trimming signage was creating a visibility hazard with regard to traffic on Post Road Dec. 9. Police helped workers relocate the signs.
Police helped a driver find her parked car on Harwood Court Dec. 9.
Verizon was notified about a low-hanging wire on Tunstall Road Dec. 9.
Bob Harrison, age 81 of Fox Meadow Road was stopped by police on the Post Road at Oxford Road on Saturday morning December 10 at 9:19 am for driving 66 miles per hour in a zone where the speed limit is 30 miles per hour. When police asked to see Harrison’s license they found that it was suspended for “administrative actions by department.” Police contacted Harrison’s son to pick him up and take him and his car home. He was issued tickets for speeding and driving without a license.
The registration of a car was suspended due to lack of toll payment. On Dec. 10, police pulled over the car on Post Road for a traffic stop and subsequently issued the driver of summons.
On Dec. 10, police assisted a driver in pushing a disabled car out of Post Road.
Police stood by while a flat tire was changed on a disabled car at Popham and Lockwood roads Dec. 11.
A construction fence blew into Murray Hill Road Dec. 12. Police corrected the situation.
Village code
Police issued a summons to landscapers for using gas-powered leaf blowers in violation of Village code on Fayette Road, after a caller complained that leaves were blowing around and causing a “blinding effect” for drivers Dec. 7.
Early Dec. 11, police advised a Dolma Road party host that neighbors had complained of noise. The host agreed to turn off the music.
Animals
A Cornell Road resident twice reported seeing a possibly sick fox in a nearby yard Dec. 10. Police observed the fox in a neighbor’s yard. It appeared to suffer from mange, and therefore, might be able to recover.
A hungry-looking cat was found on Innes Road Dec. 10. It was picked up by a representative of New Rochelle Humane Society.
Two callers reported seeing a loose German shepherd running outside in the area of Mamaroneck and Leatherstocking roads and Post and Fenimore roads Dec. 10.
On Dec. 11, police received a report of a loose brown dog, about the size of a German shepherd, on Post and Fenimore roads.
Firefighters
Power lines caught fire on Griffen Avenue Dec. 5. Firefighters cut power to the lines and stood by for Con Edison. The fire subsided as soon as the power was cut.
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway Dec. 6. One car was removed by tow. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters checked an Ogden Road basement for possible carbon monoxide after a resident expressed concerns related to a gas-heating unit that had recently been serviced Dec. 6.
Firefighters ventilated Scarsdale Village Hall after charred food in a toaster oven released smoke and a burnt odor inside the building Dec. 7.
Firefighters assisted at car accidents on the Hutchinson River Parkway Dec. 7 and 9.
Firefighters assisted at the scene of an unconscious person found inside a black BMW SUV parked at the sanitation yard Dec. 9. The front window was smashed by first responders who were already on scene performing CPR when firefighters arrived. Firefighters helped package the patient so Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps could transport him to the hospital.
Firefighters used a fan to ventilate fireplace smoke from a Crawford Lane house Dec. 9.
On Dec. 11, firefighters ventilated a Walworth Avenue house due to accumulated fireplace smoke, resulting from a closed flue.

Stolen car: A 2018 BMW 540, valued at $58,000, was stolen from a Crossway driveway overnight and reported the morning of Dec. 13.
Stolen shoes
On Dec. 14, a River Road resident reported coming home, finding her garage window broken and approximately 10 pairs of Nike sneakers, valued at $3,000 combined, missing.
Burglary
A Stonewall Lane house was burglarized Dec. 17. Police noted that glass panels on two rear doors was broken, and undisclosed items were stolen.
Car break-in
A Wildwood Road woman reported that someone entered her husband’s car and rummaged through belongings during the early morning of Dec. 12. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Fraud and identity theft
On Dec. 12, a Walworth Avenue man reported he was a victim of fraud. Two checks were altered, and one fraudulent withdrawal was processed against the man’s account. The total amount of loss was over $12,000.
On Dec. 15, a Lyons Road man reported numerous fraudulent charges at Apple, totaling approximately $5,000, appeared on his Citibank card.
Help
A woman thought her ex-husband had people following her on the metro north platform Dec. 14. Police arrived and conferred with MTA police. They did not observe any people following or disturbing the woman. MTA police offered to escort her to her destination.
Suspicious
On Dec. 16, a man rang a Murray Hill Road doorbell and asked the homeowner if she liked cats and was interested in buying one. She felt the incident was suspicious and informed police.

Civil matter
Police helped a current and previous owners of a Richelieu house mediate a disagreement over mail received at the house, addressed to the previous owner, Dec. 17. Police suggested that the new owner place any mail addressed to the previous owner outside and notify the previous owner, for pickup.
Cars and roadways
Heavy snowfall weighed on branches, causing them to bend into the roadway blocking Butler Road and an entrance to the Bronx River Parkway Dec. 12. Police knocked snow from the branches, which caused them to lift back upward to their proper location.
A car with scofflaw status, resulting from unpaid parking tickets, was parked on Christie Place, Dec. 12. Police had the car, registered to a Poughkeepsie owner, towed.
Patrol corrected a dislodged storm drain at Weaver Street and Griffen Avenue Dec. 13.
On Dec. 13, police issued multiple summons to a Winter Springs, FL, driver who was stopped at a seat belt safety check at Mamaroneck Road and Crossway Dec. 13.
Tree cutters temporarily placed a cut tree on Walworth Avenue Dec. 13. Police advised them to remove the tree and put flaggers in place to direct traffic.
A car drove over a damaged curb box on Weaver Street Dec. 15.
Police advised a driver that her car was parked too close to a fire hydrant on Brookfield Lane Dec. 15.
On Dec. 15, a mechanic dropped off a Sherbrooke Road client’s car at the wrong address. Police assisted in rectifying the mistake.
A caller reported bumping a pedestrian with her car on East Parkway Dec. 16.
The highway department was informed about a large branch on Palmer Avenue and Mamaroneck Road Dec. 16.
On Dec. 17, a Hastings-on-Hudson driver failed to make a full stop at a stop sign in Village center. Police pulled the driver over and learned his driver’s license was suspended. Police issued multiple summonses.
Police helped a driver with a flat tire on Crane Road Dec. 18.
Police issued a Yonkers driver multiple summonses for equipment violations after the driver was stopped at a police checkpoint on Heathcote Road Dec. 18.
Construction debris was found on Boulevard Dev. 18. Police marked the area with police tape and notified the highway department for pickup.

Animals
On Dec. 12, a Springdale Road woman reported that her dog was attacked by a neighbor’s dog while the woman’s daughter was out walking the dog. The offending dog broke free from its handler before the attack. No injuries were reported.
On Dec. 14, a caller reported finding an injured cat on Post Road. Police provided the caller with a box and directed her to contact New Rochelle Humane Society.
An injured raccoon was attempting to shelter itself from inclement weather on an Aspen Road porch Dec. 16. Police advised the homeowner to contact a trapper.
A lost dog was found at Heathcote Road and Crossway Dec. 17. Police reunited the dog with its owner and issued a summons.
Village code
On Dec. 13, police removed signs posted in the Village right of way on Murray Hill and Fox Meadow roads. On Dec. 16, police removed signs posted in the Village right of way on Fox Meadow Road.
On Dec. 17, police issued summonses to landscapers using gas-powered blowers on Claremont Road.
Lost and found
Police picked up a lost license plate from Boulevard and returned it to its registered owner Dec. 16.
A Rural Drive woman found a set of keys in her driveway Dec. 17.
On Dec. 18, a caller reported losing his wallet in Village center.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of a gas leak on Tory Lane Dec. 12.
On Dec. 13, firefighters helped a driver retrieve keys after the keys fell through a storm sewer grate on Freightway Road.
Firefighters assisted at a car accident, in which a car jumped the curb and ending up on a sidewalk, on Popham Road Dec. 14.
Car cleaning equipment caused carbon monoxide to accumulate inside a Heathcote Road house Dec. 15. Firefighters ventilated and instructed cleaners on proper equipment usage.
Firefighters notified Con Edison of arcing wires on Bradley Road Dec. 16.

House Entered: Purse, Keys and Car Stolen on Hanover Road

Stolen cars: On the evening of Dec. 3, a Hanover Road resident reported her BMW X7, Valued at $100,000 had been stolen from her driveway. Her purse and key fob were also reported missing from the house. The front and rear doors of the house had been left unlocked during the hours of 3 – 9 pm, when the theft occurred.
A caller reported his GPS monitoring device was pinging his stolen car’s location in the Village near Hanover Road Dec. 3. Police went to the location, but the car was no longer there.
White Plains Man Arrested Twice In One Week
On Nov. 29, police arrested David G. Metsch, 34, of White Plains, on the strength of an arrest warrant, issued out of Scarsdale for failure to appear on a previous aggravated harassment charge. Following arrest processing, Metsch was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear on Dec. 7. On Dec. 2, police arrested David G. Metsch, 34, of White Plains, again after he turned himself in to White Plains police for violating an order of protection. He was remanded to Westchester County Jail.
Stolen purse
A woman reported her purse was stolen from her car while she was parked at the Scarsdale track Dec. 2. The perpetrator smashed a car window to steal the purse from the car, which was locked.
Package theft
On Nov. 28, a Gatehouse Road resident reported that two Amazon packages were stolen from his front porch two days ago.
ID theft
A Park Road resident reported being the victim of identity theft Nov. 30. He received an email alleging to be from a representative of a company that sells office supplies. He supplied banking information via the email and authorized a down payment. Afterward, he realized $20,000 was stolen from his account.
On Dec. 1, a Lyons Road man walked into headquarters and reported someone used his personal information to attempt to open a line of credit at Bank of America.
Mischief
A Lyons Road woman reported that someone cut outside wires to her holiday lights outside her house Nov. 28. Police examined the wire and noticed a section was cut out in two places. Police canvassed the neighborhood for any surveillance cameras to aid in their investigation.
Help
A Scarsdale Avenue employee asked police to walk her to her car after she locked up for the night, due to concerns about a person who called repeatedly during the day for no legitimate reason Nov. 29.
Politics
Police were called to mediate a dispute between two men arguing about “Russian politics” on Madison Road. They were gone when police arrived.
Domestic matters
Police intervened in a domestic encounter in Edgewood after a wife called to report that her husband came home and started slamming things around and causing a ruckus Nov 30. Later the wife called back to report her husband was calling her names and threatening to videotape her. When police arrived, the wife said she was trying to sleep and her husband was making to much noise. He was eating dinner in the kitchen. He said he would take the dog out for a walk while his wife tried to sleep. On Dec. 1, police came to the house again when the husband called to report his wife was out of control. They said there had been a verbal argument, but they were under control when police arrived.
On Dec. 5, at 1 a.m., a Greenburgh police requested a welfare check of a girl staying at a Greenacres Avenue house. The girl allegedly left her house during a domestic incident and Greenburgh police wanted to make sure she was ok. She was fine and said she preferred to spend the night at the Greenacres Avenue house.
Noise
Possible gunshot noise on Secor Road was determined to be noisemakers used to deter geese from gathering in the area Dec. 2.
Neighbors
On Dec. 4, a Wynmor Road resident reported having a problem with a neighbor. The resident reported that her cat went into the neighbor’s yard and she entered the yard to retrieve the cat. The neighbor was upset about this and shooed that cat into the street, which the resident wasn’t happy about.
Cars and roadways
On Nov. 28, police helped a driver push a disabled car off of Mamaroneck and Garden roads so the driver could safely wait for a tow.
A sanitation vehicle and a water delivery truck got into an accident on Berkeley Road Nov. 28.
Police checked on the safety of a site where tree workers on East Parkway were using flaggers to direct traffic Nov. 29. They determined the site was safe.
Police notified the highway department about a fallen branch on Birchall Drive Nov. 30.
A large branch and dangling wire were reported on Kensington Road private property Nov. 30. Police notified the Verizon and the homeowner.
Police re-secured a fallen street sign at Forest and Woods lanes Nov. 30.
Verizon was notified about fallen wires at Stratton Road and Mamaroneck Road and the Hutchinson River Parkway Nov. 30 and Tompkins Road Dec. 1.
Police removed an errant trashcan from the side of Madison Road Nov. 30.
An optimum worker was blocking traffic on Mamaroneck Road, with no flaggers present, Dec. 2. Police advised the worker to rectify the unsafe working and traffic condition.
Police corrected a traffic jam at Cornell Street and Weaver Street due to Con Edison work Dec. 2.
On Dec. 3, police threw away an empty gold box with a red ribbon found on Crane Road.

Firefighters removed a malfunctioning space heater from a Heathcote Road house Dec. 3.
Firefighters shut down a boiler and ventilated a Kent Road house due to elevated levels of carbon monoxide Dec. 3. They stood by for Con Edison.
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Tompkins Road Dec. 3.
On Dec. 3, firefighters were called to extinguish a dryer fire in a Brittany Close house. Hartsdale firefighters assisted. One resident was assessed by SVAC, and one dog was removed from the structure. Con-Ed gas and electric were dispatched to the scene to isolate the electrical and gas connections affected by the fire. The Scarsdale FD Cause and Origin team responded and performed an investigation. The cause of the fire was deemed unintentional, as a semi-rigid duct located at the area of origin showed the heaviest level of involvement and displayed charred remains of lint.
A car that backed into a Fayette Road garage with its engine running showed elevated levels of carbon monoxide Dec. 4. Firefighters ventilated the space.
