policeAll was relatively quietly on the Scarsdale front this week, as many residents were on vacation.  Here is a short report of village happenings:  Arrests: Louis Werner, age 41 of Armonk was arrested by Mount Kisco police on Friday August 18th. She was wanted for driving without a license in Scarsdale in February, 2010. She was transported to Scarsdale Police Headquarters where she was processed and released to a friend on $300 bail.

A White Plains youth was arrested on a bench warrant on August 17th.  Charges stemmed from driving in a stolen car.

Thefts: A GPS device was stolen out of a 2002 Toyota Highlander parked on Wynmor Road during the night of August 15-16th. On August 18th, a Farragut Road resident also reported that her GPS device was stolen from her car overnight.

Underage Drinking: Police received an anonymous complaint about noise at the Fox Meadow School on Tuesday night 8/17 at 10:20 pm. They arrived to find a group of kids drinking from a bottle vodka. One of the boys, a 15 year-old visitor from out of town drank too much and passed out. The Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps was called and the boy had to be carried to the ambulance. He was transported to White Plains Hospital for treatment.

Noise: On Wednesday night 8/18, complaints about noise were received about parties on Gatehouse Road, Valley Road, Ewart Road, Brite Avenue and regarding a car at Chateaux Circle.

Disputes: On Wednesday night August 18th a fight broke out between two women at Search for Change, a residential home on Post Road. Police interviewed both women and the residential counselors on site and the women agreed to maintain their distance from each other in the future.

A Puritan Road man called police on the afternoon of 8/19 to report that his ex-wife was in violation of their custody arrangement when she was 16 minutes late dropping off their daughter.

A Court officer at Scarsdale Village Hall called police when a resident became unruly on the afternoon of 8/20. The young man had come to court to settle two tickets and when the officer explained the terms the man became irate and started to yell. The court officer gave him copies of his summons’ and asked him to leave.

Around noon on August 20th, an older man parked his black Lexus in the handicapped spot at Kids Base and started to curse and yell into his cell phone. His loud voice could be heard at the pool snack bar, so an employee of the concession stand went over to the fence and asked the man to quiet down. The man then closed the car window and continued to yell. When he was asked to quiet down again, he drove away but the employee wrote down the man’s license plate number. Police used the plate number to track down the Crane Road man and visited him at home. The man claimed that he was hard of hearing.

Found: A Citibank Mastercard was found in front of18 Chase Road on the afternoon of Thursday 8/19. A Good Samaritan turned it over to the police who contacted the card owner who came to retrieve it and police advised her to check for unauthorized charges.

Heathcote Road residents found a red and white Kona Mountain bicycle on their lawn and reported it on August 22nd.

The street sign for the intersection of Mamaroneck and Catherine Roads was turned into Scarsdale police on the night of August 19th. The sign had already been replaced so police kept the sign.

Damage: A Rock Creek man reported that minor damage was done to the hood of his 2004 Honda Accord when it was parked in the Freightway Garage on August 17th. Police asked the garage to examine their video surveillance to see if they could ascertain what happened.

Cohawney Road residents found beer cans on their property and on the windowsill on August 22nd. They also noticed that one of the cans was lying hear a broken dining room window.

Watering Violations: A Carthage Road man was issued a village code summons for violating the watering restrictions at 3 pm on 8/19.

A neighbor called to report that Heathcote Road residents were violating the watering restrictions at 8 pm on 8/17. Police stopped by the offenders’ home, informed them of the restrictions and they agreed to comply.

 

 

greeburghshieldTeen trouble: A dispute between two boys in Edgemont in the early hours of the morning of August 11 turned into a brutal fight. A boy from Clarendon Place, Scarsdale got into a fight with an unknown suspect in the parking lot of the Seeley Place School at 3:50 am. The suspect pinned the Edgemont boy to the ground and punched him repeatedly in the head and the neck. After someone broke up the fight, the two continued to feud and the suspect picked up a rock the size of a baseball and struck the boy in the center of his forehead and on the left side of the face with the rock. Friends finally stopped the fight, but the Scarsdale boy suffered severe pain and discomfort to his head, neck, face and jaw and has had headaches since the incident. He wishes to press charges against his assailant.

Also on the morning of 8/11 police were called to the Daytop School on Central Avenue to resolve a dispute between a staff member and a student. The student was argumentative and aggressive because he said the staff member “snitched on him” to his mother about an incident that had occurred a few days earlier.

A 17 year-old Scarsdale boy was stopped by the manager of Rite Aid on East Hartsdale Avenue when the boy placed a bottle of vitamins, valued at $28.99 in his book bag and attempted to leave the store without paying. The store did not press charges but banned the boy from returning to the store.

A 20 year-old Ardsley Road girl reported her purse missing after three unknown boys entered her house without her permission at 1 am on 8/11. The three boys claimed to be friends with the girl’s younger brother and refused to leave so she ended the party. She went to the Candlelight restaurant with friends and got a call from her dad to say that the house alarm had gone off. The next morning she realized that her purse, including her license, credit card and wallet was missing.

Two 17 year-old Edgemont youths were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol when they were spotted with an unopened bottle of vodka in the parking lot of Funcraft on Central Avenue on Thursday night 8/12.

Money trouble: On the morning of August 11, police were called to TD Bank on Central Avenue when a woman was attempting to withdraw cash from her account. Fraudulent checks had been deposited in her account and she was withdrawing the proceeds. Police stopped Shante Monique Watkins of Jamaica, NY outside the bank and found that she had $2,250 in fraudulent funds and a bag of a substance that appeared to be marijuana in her purse. The 24 year-old woman was taken to police headquarters and arrested for possession of marijuana. The envelope containing $2,250 was returned to TD Bank and police will investigate the source of the funds.

Car trouble: A red 1998 Ford Mustang was stolen from the Sunoco Station at 858 Central Avenue sometime between midnight and 6 am on 8/12. The car was parked there as it was for sale, and it was locked and the keys were inside the shop.

A stolen 1996 Toyota Paseo, belonging to a Cortlandt Manor woman was found at 6 am on Sunday morning 8/15 on North Central Avenue. The passenger side window was open and the keys were on the seat. Police ran a DMV check on the license plates and found that the car had been stolen on 8/12.

A Montrose Road woman reported that her GMC Envoy was damaged while parked at the Hartsdale train station on Friday August 13th. No one left a note.

Thefts: A cashier at Marshalls was arrested for stealing cash from the register on the evening of 8/12. The store’s Loss Prevention Manager reported the theft.

On Friday 8/13, an employee of Radio Shack saw a customer unlock a Boost mobile cell phone from the shelf and leave the store without paying for it. The employee chased the suspect and managed to grab the phone, but the suspect knocked the employee off his feet. The suspect then got into a green Toyota SUV and fled. Even though the employee recorded the license plate number, the store decided not to pursue the incident.

Lucio Rosas, age 45 of Ferris Avenue White Plains was arrested outside Best Buy on Sunday 8/15. He had removed the security device from a Dell Inspiron Laptop Computer, put the computer behind his back and left the store without paying. When he was taken to the police station he was also found to be drunk.

A Fishkill woman left her fanny pack at McDonald’s on Central Avenue on the evening of 8/13. When she realized, she returned to claim it, but McDonald’s was closed for the night. The next morning when she went back again, the fanny pack was gone. The store will check the videotape to see if they can find out what happened.

A Manhattan man left his fanny pack in addressing room in TJ Maxx on Central Avenue when he was trying on some clothes on the afternoon of 8/15. About an hour later he realized it was missing and returned to the store; but his pack that contained a digital camera, passports and $90 was gone.

 

 

Burglary Attempts: Shorty after 8 pm on 7/27 a Palmer Road man got a call from his alarm company to say that his home alarm had been activated. He returned home and found that the basement door had been forced open and the doorframe was broken. However, everything in the house was in order so police suspect that the sounding of the alarm scared off the vandals.

Minutes later, a 77 year-old Penn Road woman heard a loud sound in her home and went downstairs to investigate, where she saw two men on her porch trying to get into her house through the back door. She screamed and the men ran into a car that was parked and running on Penn Road. She was unable to provide a description of the men or the car but police canvassed the area to look for suspects.

Pedestrians Hit:
A Scarsdale woman backed her car into a pedestrian at the De Cicco’s parking lot on the afternoon of 7/30. The victim was a New Rochelle man who initially felt no pain and did not want to report the incident to the police. However, at 6 pm he went to Sound Shore Hospital in New Rochelle as he felt pain in his left hip and back. When he got home he reported the incident to the police who called in the driver to complete an accident report.

A pedestrian, rushing to make a train in Scarsdale, ran into a car on Popham Road on 7/29. She entered the Popham Road crosswalk when the “do not walk” signal was on. The passenger side window of the car was damaged but the pedestrian refused medical attention.

At 8 pm on 7/26 Scarsdale Police received a report from Mamaroneck Police of a possible auto accident involving a pedestrian on Weaver Street in front of the Quaker Ridge School. The alleged victim was an elderly man who was jogging on Weaver Street when he was struck in the arm by a black SUV. Police searched the area and the Hutch, and called area hospitals, but were unable to find the victim or a car that matched the description.

Bikers Hit: An Austin man, driving north on Post Road at 9 pm on Monday 7/26 hit two bicyclists who were also riding north on the Post Road. The driver hit both bikes from behind and the car’s windshield and bumper were damaged. The cyclists were taken to White Plains hospital by SVAC and their condition was not reported.

Threats: A Fox Meadow man reported the receipt of text messages from a White Plains man from whom he has an order of protection. In one of the messages, the texter asked to meet the Fox Meadow man at an apartment in White Plains and said that he knew “where to find him and his family” if he did not show up. The White Plains man has a history of assault and there are pending charges against him. The Scarsdale man also reported that he had an altercation with the White Plains man a few days earlier but he did not wish to press charges. He did ask for extra patrol around his house.

Out of Control: Alicia Boyce of Lindenhurst came to Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday morning to answer charges of driving under the influence of drugs. She became irate and refused to give Judge Galloway her new address. He decided that she would need to post bail of $250.00. However, when she was unable to come up with the money, she was sent to Westchester County Jail.

Horse on the Loose
: A horse got out of Boulder Brook Stables and was seen running down Mamaroneck Road toward Mamaroneck on Saturday morning 7/31. By the time police arrived, the horse had been caught and put back in the stable.

A stray cat was found in the alley behind Zachys on East Parkway on 7/31. When police were unable to catch it, they called the New Rochelle Humane Society and their representative was able to get the cat into an animal trap. The cat was transported to the New Rochelle Humane Society.

Theft: A Coralyn Road woman reported that her car had been entered and several items were stolen including her GPS device, money, a season’s parking pass to the Bronx Zoo and her iPhone charger. She was not sure when the theft occurred but reported the incident on 7/30.

Fraud: A New Rochelle man went to Wilson Jewelers on 7/31 to return a pearl necklace that he had purchased on July 13th. The man had purchased a Mikimoto pearl necklace for $2,469. However when Mr. Wilson looked at the necklace he realized that this was not the same pearl necklace the man had bought and Wilson refused to take it back. The customer insisted that a salesperson had swapped the necklaces but Mr. Wilson denied it. The customer then left the store.

Damage: Graffiti was painted on three park benches at the Greenacres School. Words were written in both French and Spanish and the damage was discovered on 7/29.

The wooden viewing stand and press box attached to the bleachers at Scarsdale High School was reported to be damaged sometime between 7/23-7/26. A school employee found displaced wood and broken beer bottles on the scene on the night of 7/26.

Penn Boulevard homeowner noticed that the glass panel on their side storm door was broken on Thursday July 29th. Police determined that there had been no attempted burglary and the cause of the damage is not known.

Help: A 104 year-old woman called police and told them that her son was holding her in the house against her will. Police went to the house and spoke to the woman who said her son would not allow her to call her friends. The son told police that the woman hallucinates and police observed that he was doing a good job taking care of his Mom. Police also advised social services of the situation.

Police were called on the night of 7/27 to help a man with his 50 year-old son, who needed “crisis intervention.” The son had a history of mental illness and was taken to the White Pains Hospital Emergency Room for care.

A Greenacres woman called police at 3 am on 8/1 because there was a man lying in the road in front of her house. Police found a drunk local teen in the street who did not say where he had been drinking. They took the boy home and turned him over to his mother.

A River Road woman found trash bags on her lawn on 7/27. Police assisted the elderly woman and moved the bags to an area where they would be picked up by Scarsdale sanitation.

Lost: A 20 year-old Heathcote girl misplaced her wallet at Starbucks in Scarsdale around 4 pm on August 1st. Later that night she realized her wallet was missing and called her credit card companies to cancel her accounts. By then one of the cards had already been used to purchase gas.

Guilia Flynn of Thornwood lost her Gucci wallet somewhere around DeCicco’s in Scarsdale on 7/29. Cash, a driver’s license, an Italian passport, a green card a debit card and an insurance card were all in the wallet. She was advised to cancel her credit cards and contact the Italian consulate in New York.

Identity Theft: A Secor Road woman found that someone had opened credit cards in her name at both Macy’s and J.C. Penney’s. In late May, $927.77 was charged on the Macy’s card in North Carolina and in June, $1,051.67 was charged to the Penney’s car, also in N.C.

A Bradford Road found that four checks, valued at almost $10,000 had been cashed from her Chase Bank Checking account. The checks were signed in her name with a false signature. She was not aware how anyone had gotten access to her checks.

A Black Birch Road man found that someone had used his Chase Checking account and a false id to deposit and withdraw funds from his account on July 26th at a branch in Florham Park, New Jersey.

Police removed a sign for “Junkluggers” that was posted on Post Road. A summons was issued to the company for violating Village code.

A cab owned by Central Taxi was left with both the driver’s side and passenger side doors open in the parking lot across from the Scarsdale Congregational Church on Sunday night. Police contacted Central Taxi who said that the driver remembered leaving the doors open and asked the police to close the car doors.

The Highway Department removed a bike rack from East Parkway in Scarsdale and turned three bikes they found there over to the police. If your bike was locked on the rack, get in touch with the police to claim your wheels.

scarsdale-police-car200An Edgewood woman reported that her exhusband had gained access to her computer files. Though she changed her password, the man changed it back to the original one. He gained access to her legal documents and she wished to press charges against him for unauthorized use.

In the latest round of a continuing dispute between the owner of the Citgo station on Scarsdale Avenue and an ex-employee, the station owner reported receiving a threatening phone call. The ex-employee said, “I haven’t forgotten about the money. I’m going to take care of it and take care of you, so you better watch out.” Police intervened and asked the ex-employee to stop threatening the station owner and pursue the matter through legal channels.

Cyclist Hit: A cyclist was hit on the afternoon of August 6th as he made a left turn from Olmstead Road onto the Post Road.  A car turning from Post Road onto Olmstead clipped the biker's wheel, causing him to fall off the bike.  The biker had cuts on both knees but refused medical attention.

Noise: Police dispersed a crowd of youths from the Edgewood School parking lot at 11 pm on August 2nd, after they received a report from a man who resides near the school. At 11 pm on August 6th police were called about noisy kids at Greenacres School. Police found kids in a parked car and asked them to leave the area. The following night, around 10:30 pm, about 40 kids were asked to leave the area around the Greenacres School.

Bradford Road residents were asked to turn down the music at a party they were having on August 7 at 10:30. Minutes later police received a similar call about a party on Sheldrake Road and asked the homeowner and DG to turn down the volume.

Confusion: On August 3rd a Palmer Road woman reported that a disheveled looking man came to her door and claimed he was from Con Edison and that he needed to turn off her gas. She called Con Edison who told her that no service was scheduled for her gas line. However on the morning of August 5th, police observed the same man working on Palmer Avenue. Turns out that he was a subcontractor, hired by Con Edison, to replace the gas line on Palmer Avenue.

In a similar incident on August 6, a Tompkins Road man said that two men who claimed to be from UPS were at his door. The men were working as subcontractors for UPS to clean up an antifreeze leak reported by UPS. The spill was found in front of a neighboring home and the contractors cleaned it up.

A Wildwood Road man called police at 5:30 on 8/8 when he saw two kids with guns at the Quaker Ridge School. He believed they were playing with BB guns. Police investigated and found the guns and the boys. The guns turned out to be toys and police asked the boys to stay on their own property as not to scare anyone.

An Edgewood woman called police when she believed her nephew was being attacked on August 5th. She heard loud voices on a voicemail had had left her. However, when police got in touch with the nephew it turned out that he was just hanging out with some loud friends.

Lost: A Cross River dad contacted Scarsdale Police to look for his daughter who was late returning home. The man thought his daughter might be with a friend who lives on Brite Avenue and asked police to locate her. Police found the girl at her friend’s house, where she had fallen asleep and forgotten to call home.

A Black Birch Road woman came to headquarters to report that her Tiffany wedding ring, valued at $4,500 was missing from her home. She had last seen it on July 8th and does not suspect anyone of stealing it.

Found: Police found a small glassine bag of a substance that appeared to be marijuana on Garth Road on the evening of August 6th. In addition, a Briarcliff woman found a wallet containing money, a debit card, a driver’s license, a student id, metro card, and an insurance card on Garth Road around noon on August 4th. She turned it over to police who were able to locate the wallet’s owner.

A black Prada wallet was found on a Metro North train at 10 pm on August 4th. The wallet was turned over to Scarsdale police, who located the wallet’s owner in Bronxville.

Animals: A Mamaroneck Road resident called police when she found an aggressive raccoon near her home. Police investigated and found an entire nest of raccoons and told the woman to contact a trapper.

Another raccoon was found underneath a car parked at the Shell Station on Scarsdale Avenue. The animal would not move or walk so police advised the station manager to call a trapper.

A smoking transformer brought police, the fire department and Con Edison to 16 Paddington Road on the morning of August 4th.

Damage: a school bus owned by All County Bus of Yonkers damaged stonework at a Franklin Road home on 8/6. The driver left the scene without reporting the incident.

A neighbor reported that a rear window of a Franklin Road home was broken and that the homeowners were away. Police found a second floor window with a large hole in the middle and broken glass in the yard beneath the window. There was no evidence that the house had been entered and police were not able to figure out what broke the window.

Theft: A Brite Avenue woman reported that her Garmin Nuvi navigation system had been stolen from her car on May 1, when the car was parked near the train station in the Village of Scarsdale.

A Saxon Woods Road man requested that his wife and mother-in-law return personal documents that they had removed from his home. The women have an order of protection against the man so he asked police to contact them in regards to the paperwork.

Help: A Hillview Road woman fell out of her wheelchair and called police for assistance on the afternoon of August 5th. SVAC arrived and helped her up.

Caught Red Handed: A suspect behind the car break-ins in Greenacres and Fox Meadow is in the custody of the White Plains Police, nabbed by a Scarsdale patrolman. Scarsdale Police, on the lookout for the vandal spotted a man with a black backpack walking in the area of Farley and Brewster Roads in Greenacres at 11:30 pm on Monday night July 19th. When the man saw the police car he tried to flee, but the officer stopped him. The suspect admitted that he was carrying a knife in his pack and upon further questioning admitted to entering several cars in White Plains earlier that night.

Further investigation revealed that he had driven a stolen 2003 GMC Yukon to the area, which he had stolen in Mamaroneck several days prior. Since it did not appear that he had committed a crime in Scarsdale that night, Scarsdale Police called White Plains police who arrested the man for larceny. According to Scarsdale Lieutenant Bryant Clark, the suspect, who was identified as 19 year-old Yoan Cuateco, is a strong suspect in the rash of car break-ins that has plagued Greenacres and Fox Meadow in the past few months.

Death on Shawnee Road: A visitor to a Scarsdale caretaker on Shawnee Road died there on the morning of July 26. Johanna V. Haizel, of New Rock, New Jersey had come to town to visit a friend who cares for a woman on Shawnee Road. In the early hours of the morning Ms. Haizel complained that she was having difficulty breathing and was overheated and decided to take a shower. Shortly thereafter she was found lying face up in the tub with the water still running. Police removed the shower door, and lifted the woman from the tub. CPR was performed but Ms. Haizel could not be revived and she was pronounced dead at 6:24 am on 7/26.

Drunk Driver: This just in from the Journal News: An Eastchester mom was arrested for drunk driving at the White Plains Hospital on Sunday night 7/25. The woman cut her finger and drove herself and her son to the hospital emergency room around 10 pm. A physician’s assistant smelled alcohol on her breath and called White Plains Police. When she failed a sobriety test the woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated and her son was released to her husband.

Missing: A 17 year-old Black Birch Lane girl returned home on 7/19, after she was missing for two weeks. Due to the girl’s past history she was wanted by the NYS Family Court in Westchester as a Person in Need of Supervision (PINS). Scarsdale Police arrested her, transported her to headquarters, searched her and brought her to Family Court in Westchester. Subsequently she was turned over to her mother.

Fraud: A hacker gained access to a Circle Road resident’s email account on 7/24 and changed the password. The hacker then sent out “Help Letters” to all the names in the account email address book requesting that money be sent to an account with a different email address.

A Fayette Road man reported that someone tried to open a fraudulent State Farm auto insurance policy for a 2008 Audi A6 in his name on 7/19. He never contacted State Farm and does not drive an Audi.

The daughter of Walworth Road residents was the victim of a fraudulent check scheme on Craig’s List. The daughter had advertised for a roommate in Chicago and a girl named Karen responded and sent a check for $2,850.00. Karen asked that the rent be deducted and the balance of $2,172.00 be returned to her by Western Union. The Walworth Road resident refused to wire the money but did send a personal check for $2,172.00 to the given address. The check for $2,172 was cashed, but it turned out that the original check for $2,850.00 was a fraudulent check and the Scarsdale residents are now out $2,172.00.

The mother of a 15 year-old girl reported that she was receiving sexually explicit text messages on her phone. She had ignored similar messages when she received them in June, but they resumed on 7/20. She does not know if the messages were directed to her or sent to the wrong phone number.

Theft: A Rolex watch, valued at $10,000 was reported missing from a Church Lane man’s nightstand on 7/23. The man reported that numerous people had been in the house during the time period that the watch disappeared.

Wildlife: A Wheelock Road woman found a raccoon with a jar of peanut butter on its head on her patio on the morning of 7/20. She summoned police but they were unable to capture the animal that fled into the shrubbery.

Shortly thereafter, a coyote was spotted at the intersection of the Post Road and Oxford Road but police were unable to find it.

At 9 a.m. Black Birch Road residents found the body of an unknown animal in their yard. Police were unable to identify the type of animal but placed it in a sanitation bag for pick-up.

Another coyote was spotted on Brookby Road on the evening of July 21. Police searched the area but were unable to locate it.

On the night of July 22nd Brittany Close residents reported a coyote in their backyard but police were unable to find it.

An injured fox was reported to be behind the garage of a Lee Road home. Police arrived and the animal ran off and police concluded that it was healthy.

Dog Attack: A Rock Creek Lane woman was out walking her dog on July 22nd when one of her neighbor’s dogs broke free from the leash and went after her dog. The woman picked up her dog to protect him and the attacking dog jumped on the woman and scratched her arm and ankle. In addition, her dog was bitten several times. The neighbor agreed to cover the cost of any veterinarian bills and vowed that this would not occur again. However, the dogs that attacked were the same ones involved in an incident in mid-June, reported on Scarsdale10583.

The owner of a sick dog asked police for help on the afternoon of July 21. Police picked up the dog in front of Scarsdale High School and transported it to the Scarsdale Animal Hospital.
Dispute: The owner of a Scarsdale Avenue service station hired a Port Chester man to paint the garage and paid him $1,350 by check in advance of the work. However, when the check bounced, the man refused to paint. They called police on July 22nd to settle the dispute and police advised them that this was a civil matter. Later that same day, the owner of the service station reported receiving a threatening text message from the ex-employee. The message said, “I also live in Port Chester and I know people there watch out.”

Noise:
A caller complained that people were playing basketball at the Greenacres School after 10 pm on July 22nd. Police asked them to leave the area and they complied. On July 23rd, youths were reported at Fox Meadow School at 10 pm. When police arrived, they left. Police asked Hampton Road residents to turn down the music on the night of 7/24 after they received a complaint from a neighbor.

A River Road man called police at 11 pm on July 24 when he saw two people flee out of their car after an accident on the Bronx River Parkway. Police checked the Greenacres area for the occupants of the car, but were not able to find them.

A biker complained that kids in blue compact car on Heathcote Road sprayed him with liquid at 10 pm on July 22nd. Police were not able to locate the culprits.

A Ridgecrest East resident noticed black fluid leaking from a Con Edison utility pole in front of his home on July 19th. Police reported the leak to Con Ed and the Scarsdale Fire Department who arrived and confirmed a leaking transformer. Con Ed bagged the transformer to halt the leak.

The Manager of the Scarsdale Pool found evidence of trespassers on the grounds of the pool when she arrived on the morning of 7/24. During the previous night, someone had left beer cans and cigarette butts on the pool grounds.

A Fenimore Road woman reported that she tripped on downed tree branches on Cohawney Road when she was walking her dog at 11:30 on the night of July 25th. The woman fractured her nose and bruised her eye in the fall.

Lost and Found: Passersby found a three year-old child in the middle of Mamaroneck Road at 8 pm on July 24th. Drivers stopped to see if the child needed help and he ran to the door of his house. The parents claim that the boy got close to the road but never went into the street.

Larchmont resident Evelyn Berry left her purse at Balducci's on July 19 and reported it to the police. Ultimately, her purse was returned to her with all of the contacts intact.

A wallet belonging to a Garth Road woman was found at Village Court on the afternoon of 7/21. Police contacted the woman and she came to Village Hall to retrieve her wallet.

Police spotted a car with a license plate that had previously been reported as stolen while driving on Mamaroneck Road. They used the license plate number to locate the address to which the car was registered. It turns out, that though the resident had reported her plates stolen to the police, she was reissued new plates with the original numbers. Police advised the woman to surrender her plates and ask for new ones.

From the Greenburgh Police

Theft: At 6:30 am on July 20th two men were seen loading restaurant shelving into their truck at El Dorado restaurant at 784 South Central Avenue. They loaded the shelving into their 1991 Ford Econoline Van but were warned that these were not garbage and not up for grabs. Despite the warning, the two men drove off with the shelving, which is valued at $5,000.00.

A cashier at Panera Break Company on Central Avenue was caught stealing money from the register. Stephanie Gulliver, age 18 of Yonkers had been issuing false refunds to herself and keeping the cash from the register. When confronted on 7/20 she admitted to stealing the money out of the register and signed a confession. She was terminated from her job and agreed to reimburse the store $883.97 or face prosecution. Her parents were supposed to bring in the stolen funds, but when they failed to do so, the company called police to press charges against her.

Police were called on 7/21 when a dental office at 1075 South Central Avenue was robbed. The thief stole purses, handbags wallets, credit cards and personal papers. Employees at the office were unable to give an accurate description of the suspect.

Damage:
Richard Daniels, a loss prevention officer at Marshalls came to headquarters on July 20th to report that his car was scratched while he was parked at the store. He suspects that a man he caught shoplifting on July 16th may have done the damage. According to Daniels, he had run into the shoplifter on the 19th in the Bronx and felt threatened by him.

A drunk mom got into a fight with her son at the Hartsdale Garden Apartments at 27 North Central Avenue at 11:30pm on 7/23. During the altercation, Vere Anwar Smith of the Bronx punched and broke a window. The Building Super wanted to press charges for the damage and Smith was handcuffed and taken to police headquarters where he was arrested for Criminal Mischief.

Caught: Police were called on 7/22 when Lookman Adedamola Kinoshi and Allan A Camphoo, both age 26 of Brooklyn, were acting strangely in Best Buy on Central Avenue. When the men left the store, a detective followed their car and pulled them over for changing lanes without signaling. The men both presented fraudulent i.d. and licenses and were booked for possession of forged instruments. Their Toyota Camry was impounded.
