dogsincarMeet the Ferree family's dogs, Mackey and Bailey. Mackey is a 12 year old Mini Goldendoodle and Bailey is a 6 year old Westie! Mackey and Bailey are best friends and love to cuddle! They both love their walks around Edgewood and especially love long car rides. Their favorite vacation spots are Hilton Head Island and the Outer Banks where they can run free on the beach.

Even though Mackey is a bit older, he is a puppy at heart! Unfortunately, he still enjoys eating socks and toilet paper! When he isn’t allowed to come on a car ride, he will take everyone's slippers and hide them! Bailey loves to chase squirrels and is always up for a good snuggle. She is definitely a lap dog!

Mackey and Bailey bring so much joy and laughter to the Ferree family! They love them dearly.

chocolate1Angus and Sarah Bell's dog NalaThis week’s featured pet is Angus, Gwendolyn Horn’s five year old chocolate Labrador. Angus loves to take walks around his Quaker Ridge neighborhood and greet all his great dog friends, including poodles Jesse and Sky from Carthage Lane and golden doodles Lulu and Peanut from Heathcote Road.

Angus is usually on the lookout for his crush, Sarah Bell’s golden retriever named Nala. Nala and Angus frequently play together and helped bring both families joy during Covid when all seemed lost!

Angus dreams of the day when Scarsdale has its own dog park so he can enrich his friend group with dogs from all the various Scarsdale neighborhoods!

Pepper1Church Lane resident Janice Starr found an unexpected visitor at her house on Tuesday. Starr’s housekeeper Betty spotted the critter first and described it as “cute and white,” and thought it looked like a pet but wasn’t sure what it was. At first, it was frightened by the Starr’s two standard poodles and hid under a bush but soon after ran into the Starr’s garage. Janice closed the door to the garage to keep the pet inside and quickly sent an eblast out to the Fox Meadow Neighborhood Association, where Starr serves as President. She also posted notices on Facebook.

The owner, Yuki Brenner of Wayside Lane, saw the posts and email and contacted Starr immediately. She hadn’t realized her ferret was missing but says the ferret hides a lot in her designated room!

According to Brenner, “We think she somehow got out of the room where her cage is and then she must have slipped out the back door when my husband was driving one of our kids to school. But it meant she was outside for a while and had to walk through a number of lawns to get to the Starr’s house. I am still amazed by this!”

Another neighbor saw the ferret in her garage and thought it was a (wild) possum.

Brenner provided a few photos of her naughty and overly curious ferret Pepper.

Reuniting pets with their owners is just one of the many services The Fox Meadow Neighborhood Association (FMNA) provides to the community. It was founded in 1928 and serves residents by updating them on issues affecting Fox Meadow and by fostering neighborhood spirit through a variety of social events and activities. wrigleyWrigleyMeet the Mawhinney family's pups, Wrigley and Wilma.

Wrigley is a six-year-old Shar Pei who loves belly rubs, zooming around on sand, eating peanut butter, and flopping on other people’s lawns during walks. He enjoys being the center of attention on walks and loves to be stopped for pats.

Wilma is around three years old and is possibly a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She was adopted two years ago through Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue, which brought her from Texas to New York. She is full of energy and loves playing ball, running around the yard, going on walks, and laying in the sun. Wilma loves people and, despite her size, is very gentle around children. You may see her out on walks, during which she is working on her leash manners around other dogs.

While Wrigley was initially displeased when an 85 pound playful pup came to live with him, Wrigley and Wilma are now best friends!

Katama1This week’s featured pet is a sweet and calm Pit Bull named Katama.

Katama was adopted five years ago by the Weston family. She was about four years old when the family fostered her. They had never encountered such a mellow dog before! She was the perfect calm to a busy house with two young daughters at the time.

Katama is a wonderful ambassador for her breed, proving that not all Pit Bulls are aggressive and dangerous. In fact, Katama is very lazy! Her worst trait is bed hogging and snoring!

Katama lives with her big sisters Delaney and Finley, mom Emily and dad Jamie. Look out for Katama near the Scarsdale Village. She is often out running around near Popham Road with her mom.
