Police Report: Stolen Car, Parking Dispute and Road Rage

Stolen car: A 2021 Audi Q7 was stolen from an Ogden Rd. driveway overnight Oct. 7 into Oct. 8.
Stolen bike
On Oct. 8, a bicycle was reported to have been stolen from Chase and Harcourt roads.
Harassment
On Oct. 10, a man who works in the Village reported he has been receiving numerous unwanted calls from a new acquaintance with whom he recently broke off contact. He reported that he met the acquaintance about 2.5 weeks ago and that he ceased contact with her 1.5 weeks ago. He advised that he communicated that he wanted no further contact with her, but she continues to call from blocked or various numbers. He is a White Plains resident and has talked to WPPD regarding the incident. He said he works in the Village, and the acquaintance called his job three times that day. He said that he does not want to pursue any formal charges, but he requested an officer to speak with the acquaintance to advise her to cease calling his job as he only has 20 days left on his work contract. Police called the acquaintance and requested that she cease contacting the man on his personal cell and work numbers. She agreed and added that she did not want the man to contact her either.
Disputes
Two Brambach Rd. neighbors were having an ongoing argument about parking on the street in front of each other’s houses. They told police they could not come up with a solution and they felt uncomfortable. Police advised that street parking was legal, and there were no assigned spaces on a public street. The neighbors were advised to be respectful and to not block each other in.
A driver on Popham Rd. reported a dispute with another driver Oct. 12. Police advised the driver to stay inside the car and lock the door. Police spoke with both drivers and advised them to no longer engage in road rage.
Concerns
On Oct. 6, a Walworth Ave. caller reported that a man sits outside on the street on a bicycle and screams at passing motorists. The caller alleged that it happens frequently. The man was described as a black man with dreadlocks. The caller requested police ridebys.
A caller reported seeing what could be either Halloween decorations or a person in need of assistance on Heathcote Road Oct. 9. The caller described a blonde male with a striped shirt laying on the ground. No other decorations were observed around the scene. Patrol observed a scarecrow on a front lawn. All was in good order.
On Oct. 11, a Kensington Rd. caller reported that a man came to the door and asked to look around because he claimed he lived there in the past. The man was about 50 years old. The health aid working at the property told him to leave, as the homeowner allegedly owned the house for longer than the man claimed to have there. He stayed on the yard for a few minutes before leaving.
Cameras
A Brook Lane woman reported that she had recently discovered various spy cameras around her household as well as a GPS tracker hidden in her vehicle. She suspected the items were installed by her husband, from whom she is currently separated, but they are still living together.
Help
Police helped a person in a wheelchair cross Popham Rd. around 1 a.m., Oct. 8, after arriving at the Scarsdale train station. He was afraid cars would not see him in his wheelchair at that late hour.
Cars and roadways
On Oct. 6, a woman parked in a parking lot behind Moscato’s restaurant on Overhill Rd. She called police when an attendant told her she needed to pay $1 to leave the lot. Police arrived and explained she was parked in a private parking lot. The conditions of the lot were explained to her, and she was allowed to leave free of charge, as a courtesy.
Patrol issued summonses to drivers illegally parked in handicap designated spots on Post Rd. Oct. 6.
Police removed a fallen branch from Oak Lane Oct. 8.
Patrol instructed a Post Rd. construction crew to cease work until proper protocols involving flagmen could be set up Oct. 10.
Patrol called a tow for a disabled car on Butler Rd. Oct. 11.
Police removed a fallen branch from Brewster Rd. Oct. 12.
Tree debris was blocking part of Post Rd. Oct. 13. The highway department was advised for removal.
Police removed a fallen branch from Sycamore Rd. Oct. 13.
Four car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.
Village code
Police removed illegally posted signs from Mamaroneck Rd. and Griffen Ave. Oct. 7 and from Kent Rd. and Hillview Rd. Oct. 11. Summonses were issued as appropriate.
Police dispersed youth from Freightway Rd. after dark Oct. 12.
Dogs
On Oct. 7, a dog was off leash on Aspen Rd. Police advised the owner of Village code.
Neighbors complained of a barking dog on Black Walnut Rd. Oct. 7. The dog had been let out to relieve itself. The owner brought it back in the house when police advised of the complaint.
Police found a loose dog on Ridgecrest East and returned it to its owner. The owner was issued a summons.
Lost and found
On Oct. 6, keys were found on Montrose Rd. Police returned them to their owner.
On Oct. 6, a traveler was visiting his friend and believed he lost his South African passport near a “golf course” near Secor Rd. It occurred about two days prior, he said.
On Oct. 8, a Bradford Rd. resident reported losing a NY Unified Court System identification card.
On Oct. 10, a Broadmoor Rd. man reported losing license plates to a leased vehicle.
Firefighters
On Oct. 6, firefighters assisted with a car accident involving a box truck that hit a bridge on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
On Oct. 8, firefighters assisted with a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
On Oct. 9, firefighters assisted with a car accident on Boulevard.
On Oct. 9, firefighters assisted with two car accidents on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
On Oct. 11, firefighters were dispatched to Nelson Rd. for a reported fire. Upon arrival, they detected a light smoke haze in the basement. They entered the basement and shut down the main electrical breaker. Investigation revealed a light haze and strong electrical odor throughout the basement. Heating systems, sump pump, and utilities were evaluated, with no signs of fire or malfunction. No breakers were found tripped on the electrical panel. While checking the electrical receptacles, crews located a partially melted outlet behind stacked cardboard boxes. Cardboard showed scorch marks with no sustained combustion. A second outlet on the same circuit was found with burn damage. Power was restored via the main breaker. Hot wires to affected outlets remained energized. Firefighters shut the breaker controlling the involved circuit to isolate power. The resident was advised to keep the breaker off. Firefighters recommended evaluation by a certified electrician.
On Oct. 12 firefighters assisted with a car fire on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
