Police Report: Footprints Lead to Snow Angels on Hutchinson Avenue and Police Cut Ring Stuck on Woman's Finger

Identity theft:On Dec. 18, a 44-year-old Corell Rd. man reported that his identity had been stolen and was used to open a fraudulent credit line.
Suspicious
A Brown Rd. resident saw, via a doorbell camera, that a man rang his doorbell and walked around to the back of his house Dec. 15. Police arrived to investigate. The man was an exterminator who had arrived to check termite traps.
Political concerns
On Dec. 20, a Bradley Rd. resident reported concerning messages that he received online while messaging another person on Instagram in regard to political activism. The other person wanted the resident to repost a political photo, to which he declined, which then angered the other person. The resident was told to block the other person on social media and cease contact with him.
Help
On Dec. 20, a Madison Rd. resident reported Caller reports that he is elderly, disabled, and his stairlift is dead due to a power outage. He requested assistance with rebooting utilities. Patrol arrived on scene. The resident stated that his power connection returned earlier today, but his stair lift was no longer functioning properly. Patrol attempted to correct the issue but was unable to do so. Patrol was able to make contact with the stair lift installer and schedule an appointment for them to come at their earliest convenience and repair the lift. Additionally, patrol was able to make contact with the resident’s son to advise him of the current conditions. The resident stated that he is fully capable of living on the first floor in the interim, indicating there is a bathroom and kitchen accessible. Patrol checked the fridge for food and found it to be full and the contents up to date.
Disputes
Police responded to Palmer Ave. to mediate a dispute between an Uber driver and a fare Dec. 15. Police called a taxi for the fare.
On Dec. 19, a Brewster Rd. man called 911 to report his wife was following him around the house and pushing him. He stated he got into an argument with his wife over a broken shower door. The argument intensified, and he began to walk away from the situation, but his wife kept following him, continued yelling and shoved him once. Both parties advised they are able to separate themselves in different parts of the house to avoid further arguing.
Footprints
On Dec. 18, a Hutchinson Ave. resident reported footprints in his yard that did not belong to his family. No further signs of criminal activity were observed. Patrol responded to the location and observed two separate sets of bare feet foot prints on the exterior of the residence. The foot prints lead to portions on the yard where "snow angels" had been created. The foot prints appeared to be smaller than a size seven. The resident stated they did not create these foot prints and they did not know where they came from. No signs of criminal activity were observed. Police recommended to invest in cameras.
Doorbells
Police scolded kids for ringing doorbells on Pinecrest Rd. and running away at 8 p.m., Dec. 19. The kids apologized and left for home.
Homeless man
On Dec. 19, a homeless man was reported to be smoking marijuana on the steps to the basement of a church near Village center. Patrol responded to the location and met with employees at the location who directed patrol to the location of the complaint. Patrol spoke with the individual at the stairwell and asked him to relocate. The individual left without incident.
Civil matter
On Dec. 15, a Huntington Ave. man reported having a dispute with an appliance repair person. He said his wife called for appliance repair on Dec. 1, at which time he gave the person a check for $822.96 for ordering parts which were supposed to be ready on Dec. 6. He then checked on the status and was told the parts would be in by Dec. 15. On Dec. 12, he called the repair person but could not get through. He thought the person kept sending him to voice mail and appeared to block his number. Upon calling from a different number, he related that both parties no longer wish to conduct business, and the appliance worker would be sending him his money back minus $150 for a fee. Patrol attempted to reach the repair person which yielded negative for results. Police related that this would be a civil incident. Later, upon speaking with the listed appliance worker, the worker related that he would send back the money for parts and would be removing his diagnostic fee, which he stated was $99.
Road rage
An electrical fire on East Hartsdale Avenue at Rockledge Road on Tuesday December 23, 2025 at 7:30 pm brought out the Fire Department, the Building Department and Con Edison.
On Dec. 17, a driver reported road rage. She advised that she and her husband were involved in a road rage incident earlier that day and the operator of the involved vehicle did not follow her. Patrol instructed her to contact police immediately in the future if involved in a road rage incident in the future and to not engage.
Pedestrian hit
On Dec. 20, a 40-year-old New York City pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Popham Rd. and East Parkway. She was conscious and alert, sitting on the sidewalk, when first responders arrived. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment by Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She reported pain in both knees and her head. The driver was a 49-year-old North Castle woman. She said she did not see the pedestrian in the roadway.
Cars and roadways
Highway workers responded to Black Birch Lane to repair a damaged water cap in the street Dec. 15.
On Dec. 15, police issued a 55-year-old Port Chester driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop on Post and Ferncliff roads.
Verizon was notified about a low-hanging wire over Mamaroneck Rd. Dec. 15.
On Dec. 17, police issued a 32-year-old White Plains driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, a permit violation and an unregistered motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Post and Murray Hill roads.
Tree debris was removed from Brewster Rd. Dec. 19.
Patrol taped up a low-hanging wire over Penn Rd. and notified the utility provider Dec. 19.
Con Edison was notified about a branch hanging on wires on Sherbrooke Rd. Dec. 19.
A tree fell on Heathcote Rd, with electrical wires involved Dec. 19. Police blocked the roadway and stood by until Con Edison arrived. A tree also fell on Penn Blvd. Highway workers were notified, and no wires were involved. Con Edison and/or highway workers were also notified about fallen trees on Madison Rd. and Griffin Ave.
On Dec. 20, a Heathcote Rd. man reported that an unknown car backed into his driveway earlier that day, and the driver got out of the car and went into the man’s backyard. There were no signs of criminal activity.
Police conducted traffic control while a disabled car was towed from Popham Rd. Dec. 20.
The highway department was advised about a tree leaning into Brewster Rd. Dec. 20.
On Dec. 20, the highway department advised that a tree they were taking down at Cohawney and Brewster roads fell on primary wires and was sparking. Con Edison was notified. Firefighters assisted.
Police cleared fallen branches from Lakin Rd. Dec. 21.
Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.
Dogs
A 43-year-old Greenacres Ave. resident was bitten by a dog on Dec. 14 and reported the bite on Dec. 15. There were no visible signs of injury, and no pain was reported.
A dog was off leash on Roosevelt Place Dec. 20. Police explained to the owner that this was in violation of Village code.
Village code
An illegally posted sign was removed from Brewster Rd. Dec. 18.
On Dec. 18, a caller reported that a sign taped to the stop sign at the intersection Ogden and Fox Meadow roads made her feel uncomfortable. Police removed the illegally posted sign.
Lost and found
A driver reported losing a license plate somewhere in the Village Dec. 16.
A passerby found a wallet in the Village and brought it to police Dec. 16. Police contacted the owner’s friend for notification to the owner and pickup.
A Harvest Dr. resident reported losing his license plates while attempting to mail them back to the DMV Dec. 16.
On Dec. 20, a woman reported losing a bag near the train station. She related that while in Dunkin’ Donuts, she left multiple bags on the MTA train platform, and when she returned, they were missing. Patrol was able to assist her in finding some of her belongings, but due to her losing one bag MTA police were contacted.
A caller reported finding a black, cast-iron menorah, approximately 12 inches tall, on the side of the road near Oak Lane and Highland Way Dec. 20. She wished to document her findings and said she would hold onto the item until an owner comes forward.
Firefighters
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Weaver Street, applying absorbent to spilled fluids Dec. 15.
On Dec. 15, firefighters assisted at Edgemont High School due to a boiler issue that spread carbon monoxide throughout the administration building and the outer building via an underground tunnel system. Crews performed primary searches of buildings. No CO or byproducts of combustion were found. Firefighters assisted with ventilation of the boiler room.
On Dec. 15, firefighters were called to a structure fire on Donellan Rd. There, they found a small extinguished fire on the exterior door jamb. The resident was melting ice and accidentally caught the exterior of the structure on fire. Firefighters finished extinguishing the fire, opened up the affected area, checked for extension. There was negative extension from the place of origin.
On Dec. 15, firefighters shut water to a leaking sink and dishwasher in a Madison Rd. house.
On Dec. 16, a Carstensen Rd. resident reported a gasoline odor coming from his BMW X7 at the end of his driveway. Firefighters checked visually and with a monitor, both inside and around the vehicle, and they found no evidence of a leak or odor. Firefighters also checked the garage where the vehicle was reported to be parked, and the results were also negative. Only a slight paint odor was observed, with no readings. Out of an abundance of caution, the resident was advised to not start or operate the vehicle. Instead, to leave it at end of the driveway away from all exposures and have it towed to the dealer to be inspected.
An employee of the gas station on Post Rd. accidentally locked herself out of her personal car Dec. 19. Firefighters opened the car for her, avoiding damage.
Firefighters opened windows in a Cushman Rd. house to assist with ventilation of floor refinishing products Dec. 20.
On Dec. 20, firefighters helped a Secor Rd. resident change batteries in a chirping smoke detector.
On Dec. 21, firefighters cut a ring off of a woman’s finger after she walked into headquarters for help. First, firefighters tried to remove the ring using a compression tool, but that method was unsuccessful.
