Scarsdale History is Getting a Fresh Voice—and a Few Juicy Twists

The Scarsdale Historical Society has launched ScarsTales, a new podcast that dives into the village’s lesser-known, unexpected, and sometimes scandalous past. The series promises to reveal the stories behind familiar streets, landmarks, and moments—adding new layers to the place residents think they already know.

Hosted by journalist and Scarsdale Historical Society trustee Lori Rothman, ScarsTales, features conversations with village historians Jordan Copeland and Leslie Chang, along with special guests. Together, they unpack how history is uncovered, preserved, and occasionally chased down—whether that means tracking descendants across generations or hacking through tangled vines along the Bronx River in search of long-forgotten clues.

“By bringing stories to listeners’ ears, the podcast allows the community to engage with local history in a way that is immediate, personal, and easy to enjoy anywhere,” said Randy Guggenheimer, president of the Scarsdale Historical Society. “It also creates countless opportunities to record oral histories and keep Scarsdale’s stories alive for future generations.”

The podcast is part of the Historical Society’s expanding digital push, which includes films, social media storytelling, online archives, and community programs. Together, these efforts reflect a broader effort to use modern tools to make local history accessible—and relevant—to today’s audiences.

New episodes of ScarsTales will be released monthly and will be available on major podcast platforms.
