Photo Credit Shelley GrafsteinStolen packages: A Heathcote Rd. resident reported she never received a package that she ordered; however, FedEx claimed it was a delivered and even signed for by a person at the residence. The resident requested a police report for insurance purposes.

On Sept. 4, a Forest Lane caller reported an unknown individual attempted to intercept her FedEx delivery. She described the individual as a black male, 5'10” tall, with facial hair and a white shirt – and possibly driving white Jeep. The individual was gone when police arrived. Further investigation revealed that the caller’s credit card information had also been compromised, and this information was used to make unauthorized purchases.

Attempted burglary
At 3:25 a.m., a Brookby Rd. resident reported that people were attempting to break into his house. Police confirmed the attempted burglary, and the resident reported that nothing of value had been taken.

Identity theft
On Sept. 3, a resident walked into headquarters to report that an unknown person utilized his learner’s permit without his permission while he was away at college from January 2024 to May 2024. He then received a suspension notice in the mail for unresolved traffic violations that he did not commit. He was advised to obtain a police report in order to rectify the incident.

Scam
A Fenimore Rd. resident reported that someone has been constantly calling her alleging that she owes a balance on something Sept. 3. She provided the caller with her driver’s license information but did not give out any other information.

Prank
On Sept. 3, a Clarence Rd. resident reported his vehicles were moved in his driveway and the rear door to his house is ajar. Upon arrival, patrol spoke with the calling party who advised his coffee pot was missing, and his cars were moved in his driveway. He stated it could have been a friend playing a prank on him, and he will review surveillance video assistance.

Harassment
On Sept. 6, a Brite Ave. resident reported receiving threatening messages. He stated he was exchanging messages with an unknown party on Twitter regarding an activist group he is a part of, and the same unknown party found his phone number and began texting him – calling him names. He blocked the phone number and wished to document this incident at this time. He was worried that people might find his address, and he requested extra ride-bys.

Death
An 88-year-old Oakwood Place man died at home Sept. 7.

Help
On Sept. 7, a Boniface Rd. store owner called police and asked for help in getting a person “who had not bought anything since the store opened” out. The person was described as female, wearing a black shirt, a black sweater with flowers, jeans. It was suspected that the person might be homeless. Upon patrol’s arrival, the person was outside the store. She and said she was heading to White Plains.

A Spencer Place store owner called police to report that a possibly homeless woman was pounding on the front door Sept. 7. Police told the woman to not enter the store.

Cans
A woman driving a blue van was observed driving on White Rd. and Boulevard and allegedly stopping at recycling bins and taking cans Sept. 7. Police went to the scene, but she was already gone.

Domestic matters
An Edgewood wife called police to report that her husband arrived home drunk Sept. 4. She alleged he drove his car in an intoxicated state. Police told her they would have to observe the husband actually committing the offense in order to act on it.

On Sept. 5, police mediated a dispute between a married Edgewood couple. The husband then left the house for the night.

Cars and roadways
On Sept. 2, following a traffic stop, police issued a 45-year-old Yonkers driver a summons for an uninspected motor vehicle and four additional violations.
On Sept. 2 and 3, police put an open and loose manhole cover back in place on Hampton Rd.
On Sept. 3, a car rolled back and hit the vehicle behind it on Post Rd. Police called the person whose car allegedly rolled back. That person said the vehicle behind her rearended her car at the redlight, and she left because she had to go to work. Police facilitated an information exchange in order to write a police report.
On Sept. 3, following a traffic stop, police issued a 42-year-old Mt. Vernon driver summonses for a suspended registration and an unlicensed driver. Police removed the license plates and impounded the car.
On Sept. 3, following a traffic stop, police issued a 43-year-old White Plains driver summonses for a suspended registration and speeding. Police removed the license plates and the driver had the car towed away.
A Murray Hill Rd. party host asked guests to move their cars. After waiting a period of time on Sept. 3, police gave out multiple summonses to guests who did not move their cars.
Police moved fallen wires out of the roadway on Cooper Rd. Sept. 3. Cablevision was notified.
On Sept. 5, police conducted a traffic stop of a car that was being driven with a suspended registration. The driver, who was not the owner of the car, was not aware of the problem. The car’s license plates were removed, and the driver arranged for it to be towed.
A tree fell on Brookline Rd., knocking down wires Sept. 7. Police notified Con Edison.
Police removed a fallen branch from Heathcote Rd. Sept. 7.
Four car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Open doors
A car door was left open in Freightway Garage Sept. 4. Police closed the door.
Police closed a door and windows that were accidentally left open at a Windmill Lane house Sept. 5.
On Sept. 6, the highway department was notified about a loose storm sewer drain on Heathcote Rd.

Village code
On Sept. 2, a code enforcement officer requested help from police in handling an incident on Hampton Rd. in which a person refused to provide police with a form of ID. Patrol spoke with the person who then provided the ID without incident.
On Sept. 3, police removed improperly posted signs on Brewster Rd. and Hutchinson Ave. and issued summonses, as appropriate.
On Sept. 5, police removed improperly posted signs on Mamaroneck Rd. and issued summonses, as appropriate.
Police dispersed noisy youths attending a back-to-school gathering at a Beechwood Lane house Sept. 5.

Lost and found
A Huntington Ave. woman reported losing an ID in the Village Sept. 2.
On Sept. 5, a Heathcote Rd. woman reported she lost her diamond bracelet while walking her dog in the neighborhood.
A medical insurance card was found on Mamaroneck Rd. Sept. 6.

Firefighters
On Sept. 1, a minor leak in a gas-fired appliance was corrected by firefighters and Con Edison at a Tunstall Rd. house.
On Sept. 4, firefighters assisted Hastings-on-Hudson firefighters with a nitric acid spill in their jurisdiction.
A propane tank was stuck in the “on” position, causing an odor and a leak on Hutchinson Ave. Sept. 5. Firefighters disconnected the tank and removed it from the immediate area.
Firefighters assisted at unrelated car accidents on the Hutchinson River Parkway Sept. 5 and 7.
Firefighters shut gas to a malfunctioning appliance in a Spier Rd. house Sept. 7.

Pizza delivery scam: A Weaver St. resident reported receiving multiple food deliveries for food that was not actually ordered by anyone at her address. The ordered pizzas were from a local pizzeria. They advised that similar incidents have happened at least three times in the past. Police advised the pizzeria manager to refrain from taking orders set to be delivered to that address.

Lottery ticket
On Aug. 31, a 7-Eleven employee called police because a customer was acting disorderly. The customer allegedly demanded a refund for a lottery ticket since the ticket was not successful, and the customer did not win thew Powerball. The employee explained that there were no refunds on lottery tickets. The customer began acting up but left before police arrived.

Cat
An Olmsted Rd. resident reported that she adopted a cat in 2019 in order to help with her granddaughter’s therapy and took responsibility for paying for the cat’s food and vet care. In 2022, the resident’s daughter took the cat, and the cat has been living with her since, although the resident still pays for the cat’s food and vet bills. The resident wanted the cat bac, but the daughter allegedly refused to return the cat. Police spoke with the daughter who said she is emotionally attached to the cat and does not want to return the cat. She acknowledged that her parents still assist with paying for some of the cat’s expenses. Police advised them it was a civil matter.

Bicycle
A light green LIV bicycle was left at the end of a Bradley Rd. driveway by the girl who rode it to her friend’s house Aug. 28. It disappeared while the girl was visiting her friend. Since it was left at the curb, it is logical that someone picked it up, mistaking it for trash. The owner hope it might be returned.

Domestic matter
A Stratton Rd. mother reported her adult son was using profanity and having an outburst with her Aug. 27. She told police she was dissatisfied with her son’s current lifestyle. Police advised both mother and son about how to seek assistance in dealing with their issues.

On Aug. 28, police recommended counseling resources to a Brown Rd. mother and son after they reported a verbal dispute that caused frustration.

Harassment
A Valley Rd. resident reported a man whom she has blocked by phone has been sending her unwanted emails and letters Aug. 28. She requested extra ridebys.

Civil matters
On Aug. 26, a Murray Hill Rd. medical doctor reported having a dispute with her billing company. The billing company, as a result, blocked her access to important information related to her patients’ medical care. Police advised her it was a civil matter. She said she would try to resolve it directly with the billing company.

On Aug. 27, a Madison Rd. landlord reported that her tenants vacated her rental property and then returned to retrieve items, and she wanted to document the incident. She said the tenants were breaking their lease, and she was responsible to throw out all items left behind. Then, the tenants returned to pick up couches that they had left behind. They arrived unannounced. She asked police to document the incident.

On Aug. 31, police conducted a welfare check of an 89-year-old man, at the request of his daughters who could not get in touch with him. He was OK and had just slept in, he said.

Using a spare key, police helped an Edgewood Lane resident get into her house after coming home from the hospital after midnight Sept. 1.

On Sept. 1, a man wearing a hospital gown, with a bandage on his head, was seen walking on Fenimore Rd. He asked for directions to the train station but declined further assistance.

Photos
An Asian woman in her 50s wearing a suit jacket was observed to be photographing houses on Garden Rd. Aug. 27. A resident complained. Police questioned the woman who said she was walking and photographing beautiful houses and flowers. Police advised her to stay off people’s property while taking pictures.

Doorbell
At 10:30 p.m., Aug. 27, someone got out of a white car, rang a resident’s doorbell and left. When the resident answered the door, the person got out of the white car and screamed. There was no sensible reason for the behavior.

Air quality
Parkfield Rd. residents complained of air pollution caused by construction work on the street Aug. 30. Police spoke with a construction crew that said they would be more careful going forward while cutting concrete.

Pedestrian struck
On Aug. 26, a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Heathcote Rd. and Morris Lane.

Cars and roadways
On Aug. 25, police informed the highway department about a loose storm drain, which was promptly repaired.
On Aug. 26, a Porsche would not start at Spencer Place and East Parkway. Police helped the driver contact AAA for assistance.
Police put a dislodged manhole cover back in place on Gatehouse Ln. Aug. 27.
Following a traffic stop on Aug. 29, police issued a summons to a 23-year-old Ossining driver for unlicensed driving and a suspended registration.

Gas leaks in a Murray Hill Rd. boiler room caused firefighters to shut down the boiler. They stood by for Con Edison Aug. 26.

On Aug. 27, firefighters assisted at a car accident at Post and Crane roads.

An oil-fired boiler malfunctioned on Saxon Woods Rd., and black smoke spewed from the chimney Aug. 27. Firefighters shut down the system and ventilated the space to eliminated some accumulated carbon monoxide. They advised the resident to repair the system.
On Aug. 30, firefighters assisted at a car accident at Post and Crane roads.

Death of Nanny
On Aug. 21, a Chesterfield Rd. homeowner reported her 71-year-old nanny, from Woodside, NY, was locked inside her bedroom, and she was not responding to the homeowner’s attempts to make contact. Police went to the scene, and firefighters assisted in forcing open the door. They found the nanny dead inside the en suite bathroom. Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps pronounced the woman dead, and police notified her next of kin.

Stolen Earbuds
Around 3 a.m., Aug. 25, a Scarsdale Ave. store clerk advised that two male parties entered the store and stole wireless earbuds. The clerk approached the men and advised them to pay for the merchandise, as he attempted to secure the front door to prevent them from leaving, one of the men struck the store clerk in the left hand and fled the scene. The clerk advised that three additional males were waiting in a black Toyota sedan. They fled in an unknown direction. One man was described as being in his early 20s, approximately 5'8” and Spanish speaking. The clerk advised that he would like to have the incident documented only at this time and will speak with his supervisor to determine if additional action will be taken.

Stolen
On Aug. 24, a Murray Hill Rd. woman reported her son’s Mac laptop was stolen from his backpack while traveling in Chile.

A caller reported items were stolen from his car parked on Brewster Rd. Aug. 24, At least five items were reported stolen.

Identity theft
On Aug. 18, a Corell Rd. resident reported that someone added a fraudulent address and phone number to one of his financial accounts with Trans Union. He did not yet suffer any financial losses.

Screams
A Mamaroneck Rd. family reported hearing a single female scream multiple times in the course of the week Aug. 21. Police investigated but could not determine the source of the alleged screams.

Suspicious
On Aug. 22, a Lincoln Rd. woman reported that she had a strange encounter with an older white male. She said the encounter occurred that morning while on a walk in the neighborhood. The unknown male pulled up next to her in a blue sedan her and began asking her questions about herself. When the conversation ended, he asked her to reach into his vehicle for a handshake, which she declined. She then stated he left the area. He was described him as a white man in his 60s or 70s, with grey hair. He stated his name was "Jerry".

Help
A person accidentally got locked inside a bathroom at the Wayside Lane tennis courts Aug. 19. Police and firefighters went to the structure and were able to open the door to release the person unharmed. They removed the faulty hardware.

Police called a taxi to help a Brooklyn man, who was walking on Palmer Ave. because he exited the train too early, at 5:45 a.m., Aug. 23. The taxi was going to take the man to a family member’s house in the Bronx.

A homeless man was charging his phone on Popham Rd. Aug. 23. Police asked him to move along and not to use a Village establishment for such a purpose.

Cars and roadways
On Aug. 19, a driver got two flat tires on Post Rd. He reported the flat tires, alleging that they could have been caused by a “drainage grate.” Police checked the road but found nothing to be out of order.
The highway department was informed about a dead raccoon on Post Rd. Aug. 19.
On Aug. 20, police informed Verizon about a low hanging wire on Crossway.
Police called a tow for a disabled car on Scarsdale Ave. Aug. 21.
Police discarded yellow cargo bags from Jefferson Rd. Aug. 21 because the bags were identified as garbage.
A tree fell at Montrose and Kingston roads, knocking down multiple wires Aug. 21.
On Aug. 22, a Weaver Street employee reported a car was “doing donuts” in a Weaver Street field.
Highway department workers applied quick patch filler to a marked pothole on Harvest Dr. Aug. 22.
Police notified Verizon and Con Edison about fallen wires on Brewster Rd. Aug. 23.
A passing truck making a delivery on Dickel Rd. took down wires Aug. 23. Police notified Verizon and Con Edison.
Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.

Animals
A fox was reported on Mamaroneck Rd. Aug. 19. Police observed the fox to be healthy and displaying normal behavior for the species.

A water department employee reported a possibly rabid fox on Murray Hill Rd. Aug. 21. It was gone when police arrived.

Village code
On Aug. 18, police removed illegally posted signs on Brewster Rd. On Aug. 19, police removed illegally posted signs on Madison and Drake roads. On Aug. 20, police removed illegally posted signs on Weaver St. and Hamilton and Wynmor roads. On Aug. 22, police removed illegally posted signs on Mamaroneck Rd. Summonses were issued as appropriate.

After neighbors complained of a “loud movie” heard from a Franklin Rd. house on Aug. 23, police spoke with a person who had been listening to an audio book while working out, with the windows open. The person said he would lower the volume and close the windows.

On Aug. 24, power tools were being used for at least a second time outside of Village allotted times. Police issued a summons.

Lost and found
On Aug. 18, a resident reported losing her Overseas Citizen of India identity card somewhere in the Village.

On Aug. 20, a caller reported losing her MZ Wallace handbag containing her wallet, driver’s license and credit cards in the Village on Aug. 6.

A car key was found on a Brewster Rd. sidewalk Aug. 23.

A passerby found a cell phone and turned it in to the management of a Spencer Place store Aug. 24. Management gave it to police.

Firefighters
On Aug. 18, smoke was reported in a Heathcote Rd. house. A general contractor was on scene reporting light smoke coming from a first-floor corner. The house was under full renovation, so the floor was pulled up in the area where smoke was observed. No source of ignition was found, and whatever was burning was extinguished. Firefighters shut the main breaker to the house to eliminate any electrical problems. Firefighters checked all levels and the exterior, but no cause was discovered. Workers potentially had caused the condition, and it was not reported, as per firefighters.

A neighbor watching dogs on Johnson Rd accidentally got locked out of the house Aug. 20. Firefighters gained entry through a rear patio door.

Firefighters assisted at a Post Rd. car accident Aug. 20.

Firefighters placed a Christie Place elevator out of service due to elevator malfunction Aug. 20.

A wedding ring got stuck on a man’s finger Aug. 23. Firefighters first used a compression tool in an attempt to create enough space for the ring to slide off, but that attempt did not work. Firefighters then made two cuts through the ring, and the pieces of the ring fell off from the finger.

Firefighters ventilated a Cooper Rd. kitchen to disperse accumulated gas vapors caused by a day of cooking without using the exhaust vent hood Aug. 24.

Photo Credit: Shelley GrafsteinStolen: On Aug. 11, a Lincoln Rd. resident reported that he received a call from a Scarsdale pool employee advising that someone turned in his wallet to them. The resident advised that the wallet was found near the pool area, which was suspicious because he had not been to the pool or in the area. The resident stated that he had been home all day, but that he had a pest control service and refrigerator repairman at his house.

The resident stated that he thinks one of those parties may have taken the wallet from his residence and that approximately $200 was also taken.

A bicycle was stolen from the rack on Depot Place Aug. 12.

Car break-ins
An unlocked car parked on Boulevard was entered in the early morning hours of Aug. 14, and several items were stolen. These items included a wallet containing $400, a passport, driver’s license and a spare car key. The suspect exited from a white BMW and approached the car, according to video footage.

Identity theft and scams
On Aug. 11, a Murray Hill Rd. woman reported that she was the victim of a scam.

On Aug. 14, a Highland Way woman reported that she accidentally wired money to an unknown person after her contractor’s business was hacked and she received a fraudulent email. Her bank is investigating the wire transfer.

Domestic matters
A caller requested help because she said she can’t deal with personal conflicts with her mother Aug. 13. The mother said the daughter is having trouble with medical issues. The father said the daughter is currently speaking with a psychologist regarding her dilemma. No further police action was requested.

On Aug. 14, a Woods Lane boy walked into headquarters to report that his mother took away his gaming device. Police called the mother. She stated her son had been misbehaving at home; so she took it as a form of discipline. She further advised she will be returning it that evening.

Tampering
An Overhill Rd. parking meter’s coin bank appeared to have been tampered with, but it was still intact with coins inside Aug. 15.

Concerns
On Aug. 11, a caller reported a Franklin Rd. young man might be suicidal. Police went to the young man’s house and spoke to the man. He stated he was trying to get hold of customer service in regard to being locked out of an account. He said he was he not able to get in direct communication with the company. In a customer service chat, he did state he would harm himself if they did not respond. He said he did not really mean it and does not plan on harming himself; rather, he was just trying to get a response. Patrol spoke with his parents who stated he has no history of mental health conditions and he is not capable harming himself.

On Aug. 17, an elderly woman was screaming about things that seemed delusional at the intersection of Garth and Popham roads. Patrol spoke with the woman who stated she believed people were speaking about her sister on the train station platform. She advised she has sent “emails regarding a network she heard about.” She stated she was heading to Central Ave and left the location prior to police departure.

Underage party
Police dispersed approximately 30 youths from an underage party on Old Lyme Road, with visible containers of alcohol beverages and red cups littering the yard, on Aug. 14. The homeowners were present.

Fall
A 79-year old resident reported falling in Chase Park Aug. 14. She declined medical attention.

Suspicious
On Aug. 11, a caller reported a small box was left by the USPS collection box on Depot Place. It had a label with postage already paid. Police took it to the post office and dropped it off.

Death
An 89-year-old male Chateaux Circle resident died at home Aug. 14.

Garbage truck fire
On Aug. 16, police received numerous calls about a garbage truck fire on Secor Rd. Multiple patrol units along with firefighters responded to the location. Upon arrival, the fire was observed to be out. Workers had removed the contents of the truck to mediate any damage. Firefighters applied water to the back of the truck to ensure the fire would not reignite. No damage was observed to the vehicle, and the cause of the small fire appeared to be a battery that ignited in a small appliance.

Lost and found
On Aug. 13, a Meadow Rd. Resident reported losing the front license plate of his car.
Keys were found on Boulevard Aug. 14. Police vouchered them at headquarters.
A person reported losing his wallet in the Village Aug. 15.
On Aug. 15, a purse was found on an East Parkway bench. Police returned it to its owner.

Firefighters
On Aug. 11, firefighters assisted with a car accident on Mamaroneck Rd.

On Aug. 12, firefighters assisted with a car lock-out on East Parkway.

Firefighters shut gas to a Popham Rd. stove burner after a gas odor was detected inside the same apartment Aug. 11. They ventilated and stood by for Con Edison.

On Aug. 13, firefighters assisted with a reported inside odor of smoke in a Murray Hill Rd. house. The resident reported that there was an odor of burning inside the primary bedroom and that the bedroom lights were not working. Firefighters found a tripped electrical breaker servicing the bedroom lighting circuit and advised the resident to contact a licensed electrician to evaluate the circuit. Firefighters left the breaker in the "off" position.

Firefighters were dispatched to the Hutchinson River Parkway for a reported vehicle fire. They encountered one vehicle stopped in the left lane of travel, not actively on fire, with all occupants out of the vehicle. A witness reported that while the vehicle was travelling, the underside of the car erupted into flames. The driver of the vehicle reported a mechanical failure at generally the same time. Firefighters found that the rear differential housing failed, released oil, and the fluid ignited when it contacted the exhaust system. The fire did not spread to any other parts of the vehicle. Firefighters moved the vehicle off of the highway at the request of Westchester County police. Firefighters spread absorbent on spilled fluids in the roadway.

Firefighters stood by for Con Edison at the site of burning wires on Brewster Rd. Aug. 14.

Cushman Rd. residents reported a haze in their house Aug. 15. Firefighters traced the source of the haze to leaking refrigerant coming from an attic HVAC air handler that was leaking. They metered all levels of the house with no readings. The haze dissipated.

On Aug. 17, firefighters assisted with a car accident on Mamaroneck Rd.
