It opens a 6.5-mile stretch of the historic Bronx River Parkway to bicyclists, skaters, joggers, and walkers on a series of Sundays throughout the warmer weather months each year. Bicycle Sundays is one of Westchester’s longest-running and popular recreational programs.

May 4, 11 and 18 (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)
June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 (8 a.m. - noon)
July 13, 20, 27 (8 a.m. - noon)
Sept. 7, 14, 21 and 28 (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)
Oct. 5 (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)
Bicycle Sundays is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by Westchester Parks Foundation and its partners, through generous donations from co-presenting sponsors NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester and Con Edison, with Danny’s Cycles as the official Bicycle Sponsor.

During Bicycle Sundays, the parkway is open exclusively for bicyclists, in-line skaters, scooters, walkers and joggers from Exit 22 at the Westchester County Center to Exit 4 at Scarsdale Road in Yonkers. The round-trip distance is 13 miles. The road is closed to automobiles in that stretch of parkway. Admission is free and free parking will be available in the East Lot at the Westchester County Center.

Scarsdale's Barbara Josselsohn is a best-selling author of nine historical and contemporary novels. Her latest novel, Secret Orphanage, is a breathtaking, emotional historical novel based on an actual French village that refused to stay silent.

Barbara Josselsohn is a best-selling author of nine historical and contemporary novels. Her newest book is The Secret Orphanage, a sweeping, multigenerational story set in a small village in southern France at the epicenter of the French Resistance. Her articles and essays appear in a range of publications including The New York Times, New York Magazine, Writer’s Digest, Parents Magazine, and Westchester Magazine. Barbara teaches novel and essay writing at The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, Westport Writers Workshop, and Scarsdale Library. A member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, she helped found and now coordinates the Scarsdale Library Writers Center, which promotes and supports local writers. When not writing, she enjoys yoga, ballet (as both a spectator and a participant), and spending time with her family – her husband, her three adult children and their significant others, and her rescue pup, a schnauzer named Albie, who shows up occasionally in her books. On Wednesday September 24 at 7 pm, the Scarsdale Forum will present Thierry Chaunu, President of The American Society of Le Souvenir Français and author of Memories of France to discuss the presence of the French Army in Westchester during the American Revolution and its contribution in the war to win our independence. 

This event is co-sponsored by Alliance Française du Westchester, Le Souvenir Français and the Scarsdale Forum. The program  will be held in the Scott Room of the Scarsdale Pbulic Library and is open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

We will hear from Scarsdale Village leadership, including Mayor Justin Arest, Deputy Mayor Dara Gruenberg, Trustee Jason Kofman and Village Manager Alex Marshall, about upcoming Village projects and priority initiatives. The event will be moderated by LWVS Board Member Diksha Mudbhary.
