Police Report: Footprints Lead to Snow Angels on Hutchinson Avenue and Police Cut Ring Stuck on Woman's Finger

Identity theft:On Dec. 18, a 44-year-old Corell Rd. man reported that his identity had been stolen and was used to open a fraudulent credit line.
Suspicious
A Brown Rd. resident saw, via a doorbell camera, that a man rang his doorbell and walked around to the back of his house Dec. 15. Police arrived to investigate. The man was an exterminator who had arrived to check termite traps.
Political concerns
On Dec. 20, a Bradley Rd. resident reported concerning messages that he received online while messaging another person on Instagram in regard to political activism. The other person wanted the resident to repost a political photo, to which he declined, which then angered the other person. The resident was told to block the other person on social media and cease contact with him.
Help
On Dec. 20, a Madison Rd. resident reported Caller reports that he is elderly, disabled, and his stairlift is dead due to a power outage. He requested assistance with rebooting utilities. Patrol arrived on scene. The resident stated that his power connection returned earlier today, but his stair lift was no longer functioning properly. Patrol attempted to correct the issue but was unable to do so. Patrol was able to make contact with the stair lift installer and schedule an appointment for them to come at their earliest convenience and repair the lift. Additionally, patrol was able to make contact with the resident’s son to advise him of the current conditions. The resident stated that he is fully capable of living on the first floor in the interim, indicating there is a bathroom and kitchen accessible. Patrol checked the fridge for food and found it to be full and the contents up to date.
Disputes
Police responded to Palmer Ave. to mediate a dispute between an Uber driver and a fare Dec. 15. Police called a taxi for the fare.
On Dec. 19, a Brewster Rd. man called 911 to report his wife was following him around the house and pushing him. He stated he got into an argument with his wife over a broken shower door. The argument intensified, and he began to walk away from the situation, but his wife kept following him, continued yelling and shoved him once. Both parties advised they are able to separate themselves in different parts of the house to avoid further arguing.
Footprints
On Dec. 18, a Hutchinson Ave. resident reported footprints in his yard that did not belong to his family. No further signs of criminal activity were observed. Patrol responded to the location and observed two separate sets of bare feet foot prints on the exterior of the residence. The foot prints lead to portions on the yard where "snow angels" had been created. The foot prints appeared to be smaller than a size seven. The resident stated they did not create these foot prints and they did not know where they came from. No signs of criminal activity were observed. Police recommended to invest in cameras.
Doorbells
Police scolded kids for ringing doorbells on Pinecrest Rd. and running away at 8 p.m., Dec. 19. The kids apologized and left for home.
Homeless man
On Dec. 19, a homeless man was reported to be smoking marijuana on the steps to the basement of a church near Village center. Patrol responded to the location and met with employees at the location who directed patrol to the location of the complaint. Patrol spoke with the individual at the stairwell and asked him to relocate. The individual left without incident.
Civil matter
On Dec. 15, a Huntington Ave. man reported having a dispute with an appliance repair person. He said his wife called for appliance repair on Dec. 1, at which time he gave the person a check for $822.96 for ordering parts which were supposed to be ready on Dec. 6. He then checked on the status and was told the parts would be in by Dec. 15. On Dec. 12, he called the repair person but could not get through. He thought the person kept sending him to voice mail and appeared to block his number. Upon calling from a different number, he related that both parties no longer wish to conduct business, and the appliance worker would be sending him his money back minus $150 for a fee. Patrol attempted to reach the repair person which yielded negative for results. Police related that this would be a civil incident. Later, upon speaking with the listed appliance worker, the worker related that he would send back the money for parts and would be removing his diagnostic fee, which he stated was $99.
Road rage
An electrical fire on East Hartsdale Avenue at Rockledge Road on Tuesday December 23, 2025 at 7:30 pm brought out the Fire Department, the Building Department and Con Edison.
On Dec. 17, a driver reported road rage. She advised that she and her husband were involved in a road rage incident earlier that day and the operator of the involved vehicle did not follow her. Patrol instructed her to contact police immediately in the future if involved in a road rage incident in the future and to not engage.
Pedestrian hit
On Dec. 20, a 40-year-old New York City pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Popham Rd. and East Parkway. She was conscious and alert, sitting on the sidewalk, when first responders arrived. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital for treatment by Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps. She reported pain in both knees and her head. The driver was a 49-year-old North Castle woman. She said she did not see the pedestrian in the roadway.
Cars and roadways
Highway workers responded to Black Birch Lane to repair a damaged water cap in the street Dec. 15.
On Dec. 15, police issued a 55-year-old Port Chester driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without insurance following a traffic stop on Post and Ferncliff roads.
Verizon was notified about a low-hanging wire over Mamaroneck Rd. Dec. 15.
On Dec. 17, police issued a 32-year-old White Plains driver summonses for operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, a permit violation and an unregistered motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Post and Murray Hill roads.
Tree debris was removed from Brewster Rd. Dec. 19.
Patrol taped up a low-hanging wire over Penn Rd. and notified the utility provider Dec. 19.
Con Edison was notified about a branch hanging on wires on Sherbrooke Rd. Dec. 19.
A tree fell on Heathcote Rd, with electrical wires involved Dec. 19. Police blocked the roadway and stood by until Con Edison arrived. A tree also fell on Penn Blvd. Highway workers were notified, and no wires were involved. Con Edison and/or highway workers were also notified about fallen trees on Madison Rd. and Griffin Ave.
On Dec. 20, a Heathcote Rd. man reported that an unknown car backed into his driveway earlier that day, and the driver got out of the car and went into the man’s backyard. There were no signs of criminal activity.
Police conducted traffic control while a disabled car was towed from Popham Rd. Dec. 20.
The highway department was advised about a tree leaning into Brewster Rd. Dec. 20.
On Dec. 20, the highway department advised that a tree they were taking down at Cohawney and Brewster roads fell on primary wires and was sparking. Con Edison was notified. Firefighters assisted.
Police cleared fallen branches from Lakin Rd. Dec. 21.
Two car accidents were officially reported in the Village this week.
Dogs
A 43-year-old Greenacres Ave. resident was bitten by a dog on Dec. 14 and reported the bite on Dec. 15. There were no visible signs of injury, and no pain was reported.
A dog was off leash on Roosevelt Place Dec. 20. Police explained to the owner that this was in violation of Village code.
Village code
An illegally posted sign was removed from Brewster Rd. Dec. 18.
On Dec. 18, a caller reported that a sign taped to the stop sign at the intersection Ogden and Fox Meadow roads made her feel uncomfortable. Police removed the illegally posted sign.
Lost and found
A driver reported losing a license plate somewhere in the Village Dec. 16.
A passerby found a wallet in the Village and brought it to police Dec. 16. Police contacted the owner’s friend for notification to the owner and pickup.
A Harvest Dr. resident reported losing his license plates while attempting to mail them back to the DMV Dec. 16.
On Dec. 20, a woman reported losing a bag near the train station. She related that while in Dunkin’ Donuts, she left multiple bags on the MTA train platform, and when she returned, they were missing. Patrol was able to assist her in finding some of her belongings, but due to her losing one bag MTA police were contacted.
A caller reported finding a black, cast-iron menorah, approximately 12 inches tall, on the side of the road near Oak Lane and Highland Way Dec. 20. She wished to document her findings and said she would hold onto the item until an owner comes forward.
Firefighters
Firefighters assisted at a car accident on Weaver Street, applying absorbent to spilled fluids Dec. 15.
On Dec. 15, firefighters assisted at Edgemont High School due to a boiler issue that spread carbon monoxide throughout the administration building and the outer building via an underground tunnel system. Crews performed primary searches of buildings. No CO or byproducts of combustion were found. Firefighters assisted with ventilation of the boiler room.
On Dec. 15, firefighters were called to a structure fire on Donellan Rd. There, they found a small extinguished fire on the exterior door jamb. The resident was melting ice and accidentally caught the exterior of the structure on fire. Firefighters finished extinguishing the fire, opened up the affected area, checked for extension. There was negative extension from the place of origin.
On Dec. 15, firefighters shut water to a leaking sink and dishwasher in a Madison Rd. house.
On Dec. 16, a Carstensen Rd. resident reported a gasoline odor coming from his BMW X7 at the end of his driveway. Firefighters checked visually and with a monitor, both inside and around the vehicle, and they found no evidence of a leak or odor. Firefighters also checked the garage where the vehicle was reported to be parked, and the results were also negative. Only a slight paint odor was observed, with no readings. Out of an abundance of caution, the resident was advised to not start or operate the vehicle. Instead, to leave it at end of the driveway away from all exposures and have it towed to the dealer to be inspected.
An employee of the gas station on Post Rd. accidentally locked herself out of her personal car Dec. 19. Firefighters opened the car for her, avoiding damage.
Firefighters opened windows in a Cushman Rd. house to assist with ventilation of floor refinishing products Dec. 20.
On Dec. 20, firefighters helped a Secor Rd. resident change batteries in a chirping smoke detector.
On Dec. 21, firefighters cut a ring off of a woman’s finger after she walked into headquarters for help. First, firefighters tried to remove the ring using a compression tool, but that method was unsuccessful.

Theft and burglaries: On Dec. 8, a Mamaroneck Rd. man reported that wire was stolen from his residence sometime within the last three days.
On Dec. 13, a 2026 BMW X5 was reported stolen from Carstensen Rd.
Homeless
A maintenance worker from a Popham Rd. building reported that a homeless person had been sleeping in the building’s garbage room located on Depot Place Dec. 9. The worker asked that the person be told to move along.
On Dec. 10, a doorman from Christie Place observed a person enter his building’s garbage room and did not see them leave. The person was described as a male wearing a hoodie, converse sneakers, jeans, a scarf and wired head phones. Patrol was able to make contact with the person and advised that he was on private property and could not hang out at the location. The man left without incident.
Identity theft
On Dec. 11, a Taunton Rd. man reported that he was the victim of identity theft. He advised police that he learned that a person attempted to open an account in his name on Dec. 4 and that the account was subsequently frozen.
On Dec. 13, a Park Rd. woman reported that a check she wrote and mailed had been stolen and washed.
Help
An Overhill Rd. caller told police he ws injured while in Punta Cana and asked police to help notify his parents that he was on his way to the hospital Dec. 12. Police went to his parents’ house at 4: 45 a.m. and notified them. They advised that they would get in contact with their son right away.
Disruption
On Dec. 14, an employee of 7-Eleven reported that a 17 or 18-year-old white male customer, driving a red car, was causing a problem and was no longer welcome in the store.
Cars and roadways
Police assisted a driver with a disabled car on Scarsdale Ave. Dec. 9.
Water was leaking from a Walworth Ave. house onto the street Dec. 9. Police assisted in turning it off.
A deer was struck by a car on Secor Rd. Dec. 9. Police assisted.
Police found a parked car with an open door on Lincoln Rd. Dec. 10. Police helped secure the car after the owner reported that nothing had been stolen.
Patrol cut a low-hanging wire on Ogden Rd. and notified Verizon Dec. 10.
A car was disabled at Palmer Ave. and Heathcote Rd. Dec.10. Police stood by until a tow company arrived to tow the car from the scene.
On Dec. 13, a car accident resulted in damage to a hedge, a bench and a parking meter on Boniface Circle.

Valuable Trading Card in Stolen Package and Woman Demands Free Ice Cream

Photo Credit: Jim RoseTheft and burglaries: On Dec. 1, a Corell Rd. resident reported that a trading card was stolen while in transit following authentication from Ebay. The man said he received a package from Ebay, but it was damaged and empty when he opened it. The card is valued at $9,800.
On Dec. 2, an Aspen Rd. house was reported to have been burglarized. The homeowner said he returned home and found at least seven items missing.
A package received by a concierge at a Popham Rd. building on Dec. 4 was stolen before the owner could pick it up Dec. 5.
A 15-year-old Catherine Rd. resident reported on Dec. 7 that a wallet and two credit cards were stolen from her house the day before. She believed the credit cards were used at a Scarsdale business. She believed that three people, who had been invited to her house the day before, stole the cards and wallet. Police are following up.
Identity theft
On Dec. 3, a Kent Rd. resident reported that an unknown person attempted to open multiple fraudulent credit cards in his name. The cards were delivered to his address and were subsequently cancelled. The resident also reported that the unknown person also attempted to have mail forwarded to another address.
Help
Patrol delivered pamphlets from adult protective services to an Edgewood resident, due to the fact that adult protective services was investigating an alleged case of elder abuse Dec. 1.
A Fox Meadow Rd. resident reported that her nanny and children were accidentally locked out of their house Dec. 1. Firefighters were dispatched to make entry into the house and unlock the door from the inside.
An employee at an ice cream shop stated that a woman was refusing to pay for ice cream and would not leave the store Dec. 5. At this same time. A man approached patrol and reported he could not find his wife who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. The man accompanied police to the ice cream shop, where the man paid for the ice cream. The husband and wife left the store together.
Police turned off a water flow valve at a Cooper Rd. house after a burst pipe was spraying water Dec. 6.
Suspicious
On Dec. 1, a Seneca Rd. man showed police a video documenting a suspicious incident. It showed an unknown female wearing a black coat stepping onto his front stoop and looking through his mailbox. The man stated nothing was taken, and he only wished to have the incident documented.
An Elm Rd. resident reported a solicitor on her property Dec. 3. The alleged solicitor was actually a land surveyor, on official business.
On Dec. 7, a Valley Rd. resident reported that a red four-door sedan, possibly a Volkswagen, driven by a male with a hat was following her from White Plains. She stated the vehicle was driving in reverse the wrong way in the area of Post and Farley Roads and followed her to a pizzeria in White Plains, and possibly followed her back home. She stated the unknown driver did not say anything to her. She requested an officer drive by her residence. Police canvassed the area and did not find any cars matching the description given.

This week, the highway department was notified about a large leaf piles in streets for removal.
On Dec. 2, police assisted a tractor trailer driver back his vehicle out of the driveway at Heathcote School.
On Dec. 3, police conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle on Post Rd. A computer check of the license plate revealed that the car was being operated with a suspended registration, without a valid inspection and with broken glass. Police issued the 40-year-old Elmsford driver three summonses and removed the license plates from the car.
Verizon was notified about a fallen wire on Cornell St. Dec. 4.
On Dec. 7, a 75-year-old Bronx man was issued three summonses for speeding, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver following a traffic stop on Post Rd. The driver said he was unaware that his license had been suspended.

Bronx Driver Arrested and Man Found Lying Down on River Road

Arrested: On Nov. 28, police arrested Mario S. Fernandes, 62, of the Bronx, on charges of using a leased or rented car without an interlock device, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operation of a motor vehicle without insurance and operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver. Police arrested Fernandes after his car passed a police car, and police noticed the car was missing its license plates on Post Rd. Fernandes was released on his own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket for Village Justice court

On Nov. 30, a caller reported finding an elderly black male laying on the ground on River Rd. The male got up and stated he got off at the wrong station and is looking for White Plains, but the caller stated the male is disoriented. The male was described as wearing black sweats, a Tampa Bay hat and a white beard. Police called Central Taxi to transport the man.

On Nov. 25, A woman at Starbucks complained about the cost of a drink and caused disruption to the business. The manger called police. The woman left the store without permission.
On Nov. 28, a Larch Lane man reported he had an altercation with his brother. Police advised them to stay away from each other and cool down.
Pedestrian hit
On Nov. 24, a pedestrian was struck by a car at Palmer Ave. and Mamaroneck Rd.
A person on East Parkway reported that her foot was run over by a car Nov. 25. She was experiencing pain and swelling.

A Hickory Lane resident reported that an Amazon truck struck their house and left the scene Nov. 28.

On Nov. 24, a Crossway resident reported losing a license plate somewhere in the Village.
On Nov. 28, two men reported losing a phone at Freightway Garage because the phone slid between a stairwell and a window. The phone fell into an electrical room, which was locked.

Queens Village Man Arrested on Charges of Criminal Impersonation of a Police Officer and Grand Larceny and Deer Hit on Heathcote Road

Arrested: On Nov. 19, a man – Fardin Talha, 23, of Queens Village – presented himself at headquarters with his attorney to satisfy a warrant for his arrest, related to a past incident that occurred in September. He was charged with two felonies – criminal impersonation of a police officer and grand larceny involving a theft of at least $17,500 from a Birchall Dr. resident. He was released on his own recognizance.
Aggravated harassment
On Nov. 17, a Popham Rd. resident called police and stated he answered a call made to his landline by a restricted number, and an unknown party stated they had nothing left live for, would come to the house and cause harm to the residents. The resident said that calls continued to be made by the restricted number in rapid succession. The resident stated he called his father to make him aware of the threat, and his father stated a call was made to his office by possibly the same caller, who asked for contact information for one of his clients. The caller became irate since this info could not be shared and continued to call numerous times. While police were on scene, calls were made by an unknown caller to the resident’s cell phone. When answered, the caller sounded irate, but made no coherent statement or threat. Police noted they would make extra ridebys of the residence.
On Nov. 19, a Sycamore Rd. contractor working on a house reported that someone posted derogatory print-outs about him on utility poles near the house. He suspected the signs were posted by someone with whom he is in the middle of a civil dispute. He said he would install security cameras around the property.
Missing person
Staff at a Post Rd. institution reported a 33-year-old missing person from the location Nov. 18. She had reportedly been missing for several days. She was later reported as being found.
Homeless
On Nov. 18, police found a pair of shoes and rolled up blankets on Wayside Lane, suggesting that a homeless person might be hanging out in that area.
On Nov. 18, police told a homeless person carrying a sleeping bag on Depot Place that he was on private property and that he would have to leave.
Safety
On Nov. 19, the Athletic Director at the high school advised of an elderly woman who was walking the track during the school's track team practice, causing a hazardous condition both to herself and the athletes. She was allegedly walking from lane to lane without looking, causing a potential hazard to the track team members who are running full speed down the track lanes. The Athletic Director asked patrol to speak with her to advise her of better track etiquette that would not create a hazard for all parties using the track. Patrol met with the elderly woman and instructed her of better, more appropriate ways to walk the track that don't involve sudden lane changes. The elderly woman decided to walk on the grass on the border of the track. She was advised in the future to be more receptive to the coaches’ suggestions regarding safe and fair use of the track.
Prank
Youths were ringing doorbells and running away on Hampton Rd. Nov. 21. Police spoke with the youths, who were extremely apologetic, and advised them to refrain from such pranks in the future.
Welfare check
On Nov. 20, police conducted a welfare check of a Mamaroneck Rd. resident.
Domestic matter
An Edgewood wife called police because she was disturbed by the amount of noise her husband was making Nov. 21. Police advised them to stay away from each other in their separate areas of the house.
Suspicious
On Nov. 23, an Obry Rd. resident reported that someone walking on the street took photos of his security camera as well as the front of his house – all captured on surveillance video.
Pedestrian struck
On Nov. 18, a pedestrian was struck by a car at the intersection of Popham Rd. and East Parkway. The driver said she did not see the pedestrian due to sun glare. The pedestrian was taken to White Plains Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Cars and roadways
On Nov. 18, a student’s car was illegally parked on Overlook Rd. Police spoke with school officials who said they would get the student to move the car.
Two cars hit a deer on Heathcote Rd. Nov. 20. The cars were damaged, requiring a tow. The deer was killed by the accident and removed by the Highway Department.

Lost and found
On Nov. 21, a passerby found a purse at Montrose and Gorham Roads. Police contacted the owner and returned the purse.
On Nov. 21, a Fox Meadow Rd. resident called police to report that unknown parties were at her front door stating their lost air pods were located in her residence. She stated that no air pods were in her residence, and she told the parties to leave. They were argumentative, but they finally left prior to patrol's arrival. The parties then went to police headquarters, where they were advised that they could not demand to enter a residence to look for air pods, and they were advised to not return to the caller's property.
A driver’s license and credit card found on Garden Rd. were returned to their owner by police Nov. 22.

Police warned a resident with a dog off leash on Drake Rd. to put the dog back on leash, as per Village code.
Police advised a youth fishing at the Audry Hochberg Pond that fishing was not allowed in Village ponds Nov. 21.
