Look What's Opening in the Village

After a long wait, it appears that DeCicco and Sons will be opening a store in Scarsdale Village.
This branch of the DeCicco Family is not to be confused with the former operators of the store who shut the doors last summer.
The new proprietors are the family that operates the DeCicco’s in Eastchester, Ardsley and many locations in Westchester including a recently opened a new store in Sleepy Hollow.
However, for the first time, the store will have its own name. According to the renderings for the renovation presented to the Board of Architectural Review on July 7, 2025, the store will be called Piccolino by DeCicco and Sons. What does Piccolino mean in Italian? It is an endearing term for a young child or a little one, and that will be the vibe of this smaller, streamlined store in Scarsdale Village.
The new design features a copper-roofed cupola above the catty-cornered front door that faces Scarsdale Train Station and echoes the design of the clock at the center of the Village. On the sidewalk that extends out onto East Parkway and Spencer Place, the rendering shows outdoor tables with umbrellas and plantings, sure to be a popular gathering place in the center of the Village.
Another rendering shows signage for “bar piccolino” on the right side of the building on Spencer Place, with waiters serving drinks.
Though neither DeCicco’s nor Scarsdale Improvement Corp. who owns the site, returned our calls, a local real estate expert in the know said that the new store will be similar in scale to Balducci’s at the Five Corners and may offer a wine and beer bar and prepared foods to enjoy at the outside eating area.
The original plan was to have the store open in December, but we have not received a timeline.
At the July hearing the architectural plans were approved with conditions. We were told that the applicants were asked to reduce the size of the cupola.
More to come!

The Village of Scarsdale is pleased to launch a community-wide Food Drive for the month of July, in partnership with Feeding Westchester, a leading hunger-relief organization serving Westchester County. Summer presents unique challenges for food banks, as donations typically decline while the need remains high, particularly among families whose children rely on school meal programs during the academic year.
To help address this seasonal gap, the Village encourages residents to support neighbors in need by donating nutritious, non-perishable food items. High-priority items include brown rice, whole grain pasta, shelf-stable milk, canned meat and fish, peanut butter, whole grain cereals, oatmeal, canned vegetables, and canned or dried fruit. Glass containers will not be accepted. Donated items should be low in sodium and added sugars whenever possible.
Donations can be dropped off at any of the following locations—just look for the large white collection bins:
• Scarsdale Village Hall – 1001 Post Road
• Scarsdale Public Library – 54 Olmsted Road
• Scarsdale Department of Parks and Recreation – 244 Heathcote Road
• Scarsdale Municipal Pool Complex – 311 Mamaroneck Road
• Weinberg Nature Center – 455 Mamaroneck Road
* Scarsdale Public Safety Building - 50 Tompkins Road
• Starbucks – 51 East Parkway
• Lover’s Diamonds – 14 Garth Road
• Choice Pet Supply – 1 Palmer Avenue
• Ovder Scarsdale – 14 Palmer Avenue
Additionally, residents can shop directly from the Feeding Westchester Amazon Wishlist for convenient online giving. For more information, visit scarsdale.gov/fooddrive or FeedingWestchester.org. Donations will be accepted from July 1 to July 31, 2025.
